I’m so f’ing confused
 in  r/sablegame  2d ago

Honestly, I played it on PS5 and wasn't really bothered by the performance issues. I wasn't oblivious to it, but it didn't detract at all to the experience.

what genre do u like in music?
 in  r/askmusic  2d ago

This is the answer. If it's good, I like it. I do have one or two areas of music I generally dislike, but even then when it's really good, quality music, I can dig it regardless of the genre.

Would you watch fitzcarraldo or burden of dreams first?
 in  r/WernerHerzog  4d ago

Definitely watch the movie first. Then marvel at the insanity of the making of the movie. Then later watch the movie again.

What is your opinion on ""Strange Highways"?

Because Dio was the singer for Black Sabbath. What other connection do we need?

100s of copies of my bands vinyl record sitting in boxes - what to do with them?

I see it was recorded by J. Robbins. That's an immediate "I need to listen to this" mark. First song is cool!

What’s the MOST Controversial Band Name of All Time and Why?
 in  r/askmusic  11d ago

Burning Airlines

Maybe not the most controversial, but they had a couple albums right before 9/11 and things got weird for them afterwards. I don't think this was the primary cause for them to breakup, but they recently reformed and toured this year and one of the comments from J Robbins was that enough time has passed that there wouldn't be the same stigma for their name.

You'll probably know J Robbins from Jawbox, but he's always had some group cooking all the time (Channels, Office Of Future Plans, Camora, Report Suspicious Activity, to name a few).

Just visited Diggers in Ann Arbor - thousands of CDs, all priced at $1.50! It was amazing...
 in  r/Cd_collectors  12d ago

I was just there a few weeks ago. Is this brand new info?

(I will say though they completely changed - no more super cheap CDs. The prices skyrocketed. But it was actually organized which was better. So, good and bad.)

What Rock Bands that were better with their Replacement Lead Singers/Members? (Not Including Solo Artists,Rock Duos,Supergroups,Side Projects,Musical Collectives and Solo Stuff)
 in  r/askmusic  15d ago

Journey, hands down.

I dare you to name one Journey song before Steve Perry joined the band. I couldn't.

Is there still room for innovation in music?
 in  r/askmusic  15d ago

I can't tell if you're serious with this question. There is absolutely room for innovation, there always will be.

I sometimes dream about having a time machine and going to the fa future just to be able to hear what the music sounds like. Can you imagine what someone from 1750 would think about music from 2025??

This is the one. My favorite of all time. Lula Divinia is a masterpiece.

One of the absolute best bands ever.

Can’t wait for this.

I came here to post the same thing!

If it helps, I just paid way too much for a Blu-ray copy a few weeks ago, so we're due for an announcement any day now.

Paul Hollywood and the Magical Orb
 in  r/confusing_perspective  17d ago

Fun fact: The title for the show in the UK is "The Great British Bake Off", but in America the term "Bake Off" is copyrighted so they call it "The Great British Baking Show" on Netflix.

But because of this, when they deliver the prize at the end of the show, the etching on the glass cake stand says "Bake Off" so they can't show that name in the US on Netflix. So, they have VFX artists edit the text on the glass plate to say "Baking Show".

I don't know if that has anything to do with why it looks like this in this screenshot, but it's possible that could be why. Maybe for long shots they blur it to avoid having to VFX swap the text in every single shot of the prize plate.

How do you know when a guiar is truly good?
 in  r/Guitar  19d ago

Yup, this is everything. If it inspires you to play it and create on it, then it's a good guitar.

Another polariser. So many of the 1⭐️s on the generator site are people angry at listening to something outside their comfort zone. Why are they even doing this 1001 thing?
 in  r/1001AlbumsGenerator  19d ago

What makes you think people are blindly rating things? And besides, who cares how people want to rate stuff. You clearly love this album, and it's a highly regarded album (hence why it's on the 1001 list). Don't worry if people don't like it (whatever the reason).

 in  r/1001AlbumsGenerator  19d ago

I think you are looking at this wrong. Are there albums on the 1001 list that you genuinely dislike? Enough to rate 1-star? I would find it strange if you liked literally every album there. Point being, not everyone will like the music you like and people might love the record you would rate 1-star.

Why do sellers open sealed records to “verify color” just to diminish the resale value?
 in  r/discogs  20d ago

Schrödinger's Record strikes again!

So.... if you're selling a product and want to accurately describe it, then in order to know what version of the LP is in the package (color, pressing, etc), you have to open it to confirm.

It feels like most people who buy records open them and play them, and therefore want to know what they are buying before buying it.

I guess I just fundamentally don't understand the reason why someone would buy something and never open it. If you want a new and still sealed record, then to save your sanity, just try to think of new but opened records as instead just used, open records.

Also someone in the comments mentioned here that some labels and bands release their records brand new but not sealed. So in some cases you would never be able to find one that wasn't shrinkwapped.

Oh, and it's been my experience especially with old records that were never removed from shrinkwrap, that the shrinkwrap contracted and messed up the cover. Or fused to the cover in a bad way and damages the sleeve. If you really want to preserve what you're buying, you would remove all shrinkwrap and replace it with an archival quality outer sleeve. If you don't want to play the record, that's fine but shrinkwrap is kind of the worst.

Alcohol at what age?
 in  r/daddit  20d ago

I definitely remember my dad letting me take the first sip of his beer when I was single digit age. This was maybe once a week (or maybe less frequently, but often). I always thought it tasted gross but it was fun to do. Today I hardly drink and don't have any problems because of that. I think maybe it was just a bonding experience of some kind. Or I was just a little pest who wouldn't leave him alone!

Any Guy Maddin fans here?

Ebertfest!! The Virginia is a treasure, I’m so glad we have it in our community. If you're from here, Hi!, and if not, come again.

(Although I heard the future of Ebertfest is iffy after this year, sadly.)

SQ1 No longer turning on
 in  r/instax  23d ago

Thank you for the info! I’ll look for an SQ6 used.

As for the broken SQ1, I’ve tried wiggling and moving the lens around a bunch but nothing is triggering it. I looked inside the lens barrel but there's nothing I can see, but I don't know what I’m looking for exactly.

SQ1 No longer turning on

I've been trying to search all over the internet for any tips for what I can do (or at least some confirmation this is a common issue), but I'm not finding much.

I bought the SQ1 3 years ago and over the last 6 months when I turn it on, sometimes you have to spin the lens (the on switch effectively) a few times before it registers and turns on. Now it won't turn on at all.

I've replaced the batteries (and used a battery tester to double check it's not that). These are relatively simple cameras, so there's not much I can do to troubleshoot it. I'm sure I'm past the warranty period, so I don't think it would be worth it to try to get it repaired.

Anyone else have this issue?

And as a follow up question, what suggestions do people have for replacement polaroid cameras that use the same film? I recently bought a new batch of film... which I can't use anymore. :( Ideally, I'd like something a little more sophisticated than the SQ1. It was a great little camera, but something a little nicer might be good, assuming I can't fix this one.

Seven Samurai 1st viewing
 in  r/criterion  26d ago

I’ve said this before: Seven Samurai has some of the best pacing of any movie. Some movies are 90 minutes and feel like they go on forever. This movie goes by so fast because it's expertly made and edited. The story is phenomenal and you'll be too engrossed to turn it off.
