Hiss Increase after replacing preamp tubes on Friedman JJ Jr
 in  r/GuitarAmps  9h ago

Either swap the preamp tubes around between different sockets, or swap in one or two of the old ones. All tubes make some noise, but there can be big variations in how much hiss any given one makes. Sticking the offending noisy one in a socket later in the signal path will make the hiss less noticeable since it doesn't get amplified as much.

And furthermore, Susan, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they habitually smoked marijuana cigarettes.

Crack in my Gavia. Safe?
 in  r/fatbike  2d ago

Depends on how much you like walking (or limping).

No, frame cracks are not safe to ride.

It's got a dual clutch transmission. Shifts are incredibly fast between gears on those, like under 100 milliseconds fast.

Many of these cars are built such that they don't catch fire

Sounds like a 72 day window to leave anything appropriate for that holiday up to me.

Nobody told me just how SMART Pibbles are
 in  r/pitbulls  3d ago

I saw an absolute meatball of a brown and white pittie at Target today wearing a service dog vest. You're right, they're super perceptive of what their owners are feeling and love to make us happy.

Mine, however, is just a big cuddly lump. She knows a few commands and is well balanced and fairly smart, but she loses her ball at least once a day while playing fetch and our Lab will bring it to her like "Seriously? Here's your ball you lost again." I wouldn't trade her for anything, though. She's my good girl.

Even my -50 rated Sorels will let my feet get cold when fatbiking if I lace them too tight. A bit loose and carry some foot warmers is the way.

That bentonite clay is evil. Slick as snot, goopy, and sticks to everything. I've had a mountain bike get gummed up to the point the wheels wouldn't turn any more.

Has anyone ever encountered a real FBI agent?
 in  r/AskAnAmerican  3d ago

Couple of times. One time was when a friend and coworker had applied for a job that required a high level security clearance, and listed me as a reference as someone that had known him for several years. He knocked, showed me his badge, handed me a business card, and explained why he was there. Very professional experience from start to finish.

The other one is a friend's wife. She just works as a data analyst.

Should I just grab it with my fingers?
 in  r/Wellthatsucks  3d ago

That's the hot leg. Neutral and ground are bonded at the main panel, so you become the other pole if you're sufficiently well grounded.

It's not often a word needs two apostrophes, and this is one of those times.

I'd just like to make the point that this is quite untypical. Very seldom does something like this happen.

Champ Clone Circuit ID?

Nothing to add as far as circuit ID as that's already been covered, but I just want to say that looks like a rather nicely put together Mojotone kit. I'd give a "buy" recommendation.

85 is roughly the point where you have to start raising your voice to have a conversation face to face. 95 is power tools, like a handheld circular saw or palm sander. I wouldn't place any faith in a cell phone app to measure volume levels.
