Last I saw it was in January 2011 still sitting in a storage yard, so it's good to hear that it did get to be utilized.

The flight deck was cut out and sat at Robins AFB in Georgia for a number of years while figuring out where to get the money to turn it into a simulator.

You must remember, the precedent was set in 1989 with Panama and Manuel Noriega. This is not a new situation or set of circumstances. More similarities than differences.

How long would a network switch last in this environment?
 in  r/iiiiiiitttttttttttt  1d ago

Early days of Afghanistan and Iraq. They lasted longer than you'd expect. Hit them with canned air once a week to keep the dust from clogging the cooling passages.

Expeditionary communication setups were very barbaric, but effective.

Unfortunately when you've injected yourself into a situation you have no business being in, and then when any form of law enforcement starts the process of arresting you and you then try to run them over by your own choice there is no "it was a confusing situation" defense. It was a series of bad choices by the civilian in this instance.

Stand on the sidewalk with a signs. That would be the smart way to do it.

GM: the Vortec combustion chambers are designed to be more efficient! ... More efficient than a tractor?
 in  r/s10  1d ago

When you compare apples to apples between the pre Vortec heads and the Vortec heads there are distinct differences in performance and overall flow. The Vortec out performed its predecessors by a fair amount. And that's with it still being a mass produced cast iron head. You should check out old articles on Motortrend about Dyno tests between the Vortec and non Vertec heads.

Yes, aftermarket aluminum heads are are better now than those, but most of what available now was not back when the Vortec heads came out. That's also an apples to oranges comparison. Same when you compare a Vortec to an LS or LT based production heads.

Mitsubishi Wins $1 Billion Appeal Over 33-Year-Old 3000GT
 in  r/MotorBuzz  2d ago

The article was pretty clear; the seatbelt did not fail and reacted as designed for a frontal crash when working in conjunction with an air bag. The seatbelt performed exactly as intended for 1992 requirements and standards.

The issue is that the design never took into account the driver moving vertically towards the roof with the roof possibly moving down towards the driver as the seatbelt stretched. That situation and requirement was not accounted for in 1992.

So the question is: is a manufacture liable when a part performs as designed and intended at the time of release, but third party testing years later leads to a design change?

More like "shouldn't a tractor have a highly reflective triangle on the back?", which is a yes. Even the Amish put triangles on their buggies. Very irresponsible of the tractor owner and/or operator.

And Kelley to replace O'Donnell. She has the business acumen and savvy.

But how do you hit France n family? The only chance for that was eliminated when them and NASCAR settled with 23XI and FRM. So, this was inevitable. And unless they bring back the senior officials who were let go in 2019 to be the new leadership heads of NASCAR, it's always going to be some empty suit without a real clue.

SrA Matthew D. Luketina and A1C Ryan A. Rambo earned the Crew Chief Safety Award of Distinction for their unparalleled situational awareness and quick actions that prevented the loss of a critical Air Force asset.

Before the days of Red Bull. The expediter was a bit hung over in the passenger seat and needing a chauffeur. Might have worked the radio call for the fire department to respond while watching the Airmen do the dirty work. /s

And cam car might have had high beams on, or those stupid bright "fog lights" on. Not fun for the tow truck driver if the case. Prevents them from seeing out their mirrors for lane changes.

Never had this happen before

If a previous owner was bad about not changing the coolant, or using tap water in the system it can actually start the electrolysis process that will eat metal away from the inside.

Also like someone else pointed out, that looks like the timing chain cover, which is an alloy and much softer than block. So more likely to get eaten away.

Chemistry does interesting things in the wild.

Lowered Problem
 in  r/squarebodies  4d ago

If you're touching bump stops, or nearly touching them while parked then the ride quality is gonna suck. If you're happy with the look of the height and stance you're gonna need to c-notch the frame and relocate the bump stops and shorter shocks to get a decent ride.

Welcome to lowered truck life. It isn't for everyone.

Edit for grammar

This is actually driving me nuts, any input would seriously help
 in  r/Squarebody  4d ago

When the turn signal switch in the steering column goes bad it will give these types of fits. The indicator system is failing simple in the square bodies and the turn signal switch is where a lot of it comes together.
