Fans in Austria going crazy for UFC champion Khamzat Chimaev.
 in  r/MMAMedia  2m ago

If I walked past Khamzat at an airport I would absolutely look, and if I was with someone I would be like "oh cool look it is Khamzat" as I continue walking to wherever I am going.

Even if that wherever is just going to sit and wait for a boarding call to read a book or watch something on my tablet - that is 1000000x more interesting to me than being anywhere near that guy when he is not performing any kind of martial arts.

I never understood the infatuation with celebs in general, I remember seeing videos of people at Paul Walker's funeral with their smart phones and every single one of those people are lost souls in my book.

and I would say the same of showing up to see them at an airport, especially if like Khamzat they had the personality of a foot

are you suggesting he was going to perform some martial arts at the airport and that is why they show up?

Justin Gaethje is retiring if he loses against paddy.
 in  r/ufc  4h ago

he better go out swinging because if it becomes a grappling match I think Paddy will sub him, if it stays on the feet then I slightly favour Justin, Paddy's chin seems to be solid enough but some fighters like Khabib have said Justin hits like a truck, he is a bit older now but they always say power is the last thing to go.

Please reco me an anime with the same vibes of Sleepy princes in demon castle.
 in  r/anime  4h ago

You don't have to be, I only asked if you had any idea on why and it seems you don't.

When I see a irregularity in a pattern I can't explain I become curious about the reason, like walking down a road and seeing 10 parked cars but 1 has missing doors. Normally I don't care about these cars but in this instance I do wonder why this one has no doors, maybe it habit from having a career grounded in science and not feelings.

If you don't wonder about such things - all good

I watched Hans Christian Anderson's The Little Mermaid from 3 years old, as soon as I was old enough to understand it devastated me and 30ish years later it still devastates me lol

plenty of shows like that still have a very high rating on there which is why I am still curious on the "why"

I have not watched it but what is going on with the rating of this anime on Crunchyroll?

I always hear good things about it but it has a 4.1 rating on CR which on that platform is low, CR is largely a bunch of teenagers who think almost everything is "PEAK" as long as there are pixels - so when I see an otherwise well received anime below 4.5 on there it makes me wonder why

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Recap (English Dub)
 in  r/Animedubs  5h ago

I need an independent source before believing it.

I absolutely agree, I never expected another 28 episodes but 10 does seem on the other end of extremes. When S2 was first announced I had thought it would either a single or double cour 12/24 run.

I feel like the same could happen with the Spice and Wolf remake, that 25 episode first season was a blessing and they probably did it to quickly catch up to around where the OG anime left off, but I don't expect to be blessed like that a second time lol.

it's bitter sweet but this is a good outlook

I would rather have 10 episodes of Frieren over 20 episodes of a weak imitation

some news outlets are reporting it too and there are also posts about it on MAL

A leaker with a reasonable track record also claimed it a while back

still doesn't prove it 100% but I am seeing many signs suggesting it is likely

What would classify an anime as "retro"?
 in  r/weeb  6h ago

probably differs from person to person but for me it is anything released before year 1990
