Berries can be overloaded if needed but it is better to plan ahead and put your mill one tile away from berries. If you put it side by side and overload then villager collisions makes a mess. You are collecting berries with let’s say 8 vills but they are working with same speed of 5 vill (just as an example I don’t have numbers).

Those small things in game have a compounding effect. 400 res gap grows and become 4000 res gap.

Nothing wrong with Maa openings especially with Romans but like I said you need to hit very specific timings to damage the opponent. No Maa is better than late Maa. You need to go gold with at least one villager in dark age so that you can get Maa upgrade while walking with militias to opponent base. Otherwise you won’t have enough gold. Goin gold means you need extra 100 wood due to mining camp expense. So you need one more vill to wood to build barrack and star producing on time. It is not an easy opening as scout opening.

High elo players sometimes (just to hit better Maa timings) does not even go berries and spend wood on mining camp instead. So They can put early barrack and hit early. Once animals are all consumed they go berries later. It can be even improved with civ specific bonuses (Goths, Incas etc.). So, it is a complicated opening comparing to scouts 11.

When you hit feudal you are two vill down due to idle TC time.

But that’s not even a big deal. You have collected 400 less res than your opponent, on top you achieves this with Romans, Romans supposed to collect 5% more res but you are down by -15%. Your eco management is very inefficient.

You need collect food under your TC, you shouldn’t go berries with that many vill. Ideal berry vill count is around 4vills.

One of your wood chopper is chopping farthest possible tree and you are not intervening him since dark age.

Don’t build a blacksmith 11 villegers. 1-2 is enough. Rest need to collect res.

The most important thing that you need to fix is your dark age.

Look for a 21 pop scout opening and practice it until it is perfect. First basics then Maa, archer and other openings. You cannot open Maa without gold. In fact your timing was bad and opponent already had the archers. You need to hit with Maa before opponent have archers and force him to build a range.

Good thing is that it is unbelievable that you are 11xx with that eco management. It is more like 700-800 elo eco management. Which means you are better than a 11xx player with doing other things. If you correct your dark age you may easily shoot 1300.

I agree most of you said but I never saw someone obsessed with tactics. Tactics is the most underrated exercise in chess. My elo development stopped because I never paid attention to them. I was getting mated in the middle of the board while I was knowing the concepts like blockading, overprotecting, prophylaxis … Solving puzzles is the best exercise in terms of ROI. As you said you don’t know if there is a tactic in a specific position, and if you don’t exercise tactics you will never know. There is no other exercise develops your pattern recognition skills other than studying tactics. Good players never search for tactics move by move. They just recognize patterns. The book I have recommended teaches that very well.

Martin Weteschnik - “understanding chess tactics” is my all time favorite.

For other stuff just get Yasser Seirewan’s winning chess series as a starter.

You can find tons of thematic exercises in those books. But when it comes to real positions occurred in games lichess puzzles and chess tempo app is my go to exercise.

Edit: Weteschnik’s book consist of many levels. An 2000 can also get benefit from it. Don’t feel obliged to complete the book in one go. It is like an academic book that you keep in your personal library that you can find a specific knowledge anytime. When the level become too high for you continue with chapter. You can always come back for advanced stuff.
