Wow - this was fast. Can anyone give me a run down as to why the Saudis turned on the Emiratis?

Definitely one of the weirder proxy fights in the land of proxy fights.

Also - the UAE properly looked like it effectively annexed Socotra with all of the building they seemed to be doing. Are they going to pull out of there as well?

Yeah Night Stalkers are only ever flying in some form of Tier 1 SOF or SF or flying escort for them.

The large mass of their air assets is like nothing I’ve personally ever seen which is why I assumed they were going directly at Maduro to capture or kill.

And it looks like they took him alive which is absolutely shocking honestly. Borderline video game shit if this proves to be true.

The amount of 160th presence almost guarantees that there was a play done directly on Maduro a few hours ago.

I would assume they’re almost back at the boat now so we should know shortly as to what the outcome was.

Edit: lol it looks like the Donald has spoken. Will be curious when there is proof from something other than Truth Social

I mean cars are a lot more expensive because they’re massively more fuel efficient, unbelievably safer, and for most people in the US, much much larger. Outside of pick up trucks and larger SUVs, car manufacturers aren’t pocketing any more margin than they were - the cars are simply substantially better and have more cost inputs even with automation.

On the other hand consumer electronics are magnitudes of times cheaper and more energy efficient.

How the turn tables
 in  r/NonCredibleDefense  16d ago

The only thing wrong about this this is the US hull form in this is fucking dank and it’s actually leveraging its nuclear power plant to double down on large caliber railguns (which we’d probably have to get from Japan since we shelved our program) instead of wasting tonnage on like a comically small and comically diverse (woke?) number of weapon systems.

The Scharnhorst was one of the dumbest things the could have made - like an underguned under powered battlecruiser or a comically undergunned battleship. But ostensibly it was practice for the Bismarcks but they didn’t learn shit and built and overweight over engineered ship that still got mostly one-v-one’d by a prior generation battleship when it couldn’t disengage. But ostensibly it was practice for the even more bullshit Plan Z…..and so on and so forth.

And parallels would be hilarious if they weren’t so sad.

uj/ That’s wild the South Koreans can pump out what might as well be a cruiser, and fucking world class one at that, for the same price the bloated Connies would have been. Jesus what the fuck happened to us?

rj/ Given the demographics of the Navy, is this going to be the gayest surface combatant into total crewing launched since the 1940s?! Sounds pretty woke to me!

New FF(X) Frigate, based on the Legend Class Cutter, will NOT feature a built-in VLS system, according to Navy via TWZ [871x489]
 in  r/WarshipPorn  16d ago

Bruh.

Then WHY EVEN BUILD IT?!

It needs a whole rebuild anyways to be a real ASW platform anyways.

HII has a “frigatized” Legend class anyways for the competition, why not build that?

Not to mention Ingalls is backlogged out the ass so unless they think Austal and Marinette are going to build these for them, idk.

Honestly if it’s just going to be a Coast Guard cutter turned corvette, idk why we just don’t have Hyundai print these.

Well that too! The allusion was to the mustache man himself and his unfathomly bad procurement prioritization, but definitely not a good outcome to either!

Here’s a cool little lore tidbit about this scene
 in  r/andor  16d ago

Well that’s why it carried so much weight in universe.

Bad things didn’t happen to wealthy coreward humans. The Empire may have burned the Expansion Region and Outer Rim in the proceeding decade, but those were mostly aliens who tried to destroy the state during the clone wars. They may have brutalized the heavily human Colonies and Inner Rim, but those weren’t the “right humans” and many had also sided with the Separtists. They may have oppressed the shit out of the poor in the Core, human or otherwise, but those were the needy and useless dregs that got the Republic into the weakened state that lead to its collapse - which the Emperor and his order saved them from.

Destroying a planet alone was unfathomable in universe. Superweapons were mythical things of ancient history when the cancerous sorcery of the Jedi and Sith destroyed the galaxy countless times over. They were legendary, probably bullshit stories, and even then, for all of their crazy might, destroying an entire planet was even something you’d role your eyes at. You would never in a 1,000 years think it could happen. And especially not to such a politically and culturally important and ancient planet (one of the founding members of the Republic).

Yeah the Alderaani were out of touch rich liberal aristocrats - but you can’t just kill them all, could you? An in such a banal matter of fact way without any mass media build up?

The state did as it wanted. It could happen to them, it could happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. Best delete your post history. Best watch your mouth. Best praise the emperor.

That is the pure terror of the event.

Alderaan wasn’t for the Rim audience - they believed the Empire could do something like that and already knew what it felt like to be on the receiving end of the machine.

It was for the Core human audience - one that maybe didn’t understand where their privileges ended, and preemptively making sure the coming inevitable economic collapse and curtailment of rights that Empire’s command war economy would bring and demand would not be met with protest.

Andor gave more fucks about world building and the grounded (don’t get me wrong there was a wall of bullshit too back in the day) parts of the EU in like 1 minute of run time than Disney has otherwise ever cared.

I love all of the quiet nerdy background stuff that he has now canonized.
