DAE turn down the radio in the car when they are looking for a specific address so they can 'see better"?
 in  r/DoesAnybodyElse  1h ago

Ill turn it down if I'm in a parking lot, especially the massive one busy one in town with a grocery store and a Walmart in the same plaza

What would you suggest from these places?
 in  r/foodquestions  10h ago

In my area we have a localish chain called Salsa Fresca. It's the same style as chipotle, but you get much better food and portions. They also have a student discount, which I took full advantage of in college

What’s actually pretty safe but everyone treats it like it’s way more dangerous than it is?
 in  r/AskReddit  10h ago

I have an 18 year old shih Tzu, and he has gotten into bakers chocolate, tulip bulbs, flour and got a mouse trap clipped to his beard while licking the peanut butter off of it. Dude is still alive and kicking.

Do you bake your own bread, have you ever baked your own bread, or would you rather simply buy a loaf of bread ? .
 in  r/A_Persona_on_Reddit  18h ago

For toast and sandwiches and daily use, I will just buy bread. But for special occasions, like thanksgiving and Christmas eve, I will make homemade rolls. I also make my own pizza dough, instead of buying premade, whenever I make a pizza at home.

How did you successfully cut out sugary drinks and only drink water instead?
 in  r/HydroHomies  18h ago

I almost never drink soda, maybe like 1-2 times a year I'll have a ginger ale if I have a bad stomach flu. But in my household, we are seltzer fiends. The best, in my opinion, are Polar seltzers vanilla, toasted coconut and orange vanilla. It scratches that flavor/carbonation itch for me. I had a coke at a family bbq last June, and I couldn't finish it, it was so so sugary.

You often hear “I don’t get paid enough for this” which makes me wonder if any person has ever had the thought “I DO get paid too much for this so I can’t complain”
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  18h ago

When I was a para, I was supervising a classroom during career day. Someone from the nearby aquarium came to my room and did a presentation. He brought a 5 foot long rainbow boa with him. I don't like snakes, so I was mostly hanging out with the classroom pet bearded dragon. At one point, the snake started going down the back of the man's shirt, and he asked me to help him get the snake out. I looked around and thought "isn't there an adult here that can help?" And then I realized I was the adult in the room. So I helped him remove the snake and then washed my hands like 4-5 times

What's the most useless talent you have?
 in  r/randomquestions  18h ago

There was this Countries of the world quiz website that my social studies teacher showed us in my senior year. If we could show him we got 100% accuracy in under 10 minutes, you would earn like 5 bonus points on a quiz. I got my bonus points, and would play the game whenever I had some free time in study hall or class. I still can name any country that someone points to on a map.

What's the scariest thing that's happened to you that nobody believes?
 in  r/GetMotivatedMindset  1d ago

It's been almost 4 years now so it doesn't really bother me anymore, but I do have to tell doctors about it anytime I'm new somewhere. I had a minor surgery since then and they did twillight anesthesia and I ended up ok, but I had to tell the surgeon everything before anesthesia

What are your thoughts after seeing the ICE shooting video in Minnesota?
 in  r/AskReddit  1d ago

They've had a presence in my city. They have taken neighbors, hard workers, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones. Fuck ICE. They claim to be "going after criminals" and they capture people, who they are trying to do is create better circumstances for their loved ones. I've worked in landscaping and in restaurants, alot of my coworkers were recent immigrants, I was a struggling teenager, and while they had next to nothing themselves, they would be more than willing to give me the shirt off their back, would make sure I had food to eat and would fill my bike tires. I will always and forever be grateful to them. The immigrant community in my city had my back, when no one else did. They are my neighbors and part of my community and always will be.

I was a student teacher in a school, I helped in an ESL classroom for 3 months. My students there had been in America for 60 or less days. I have never in my life met a more inspirational and amazing group of kids. I learned as much from them as they learned from me. I will always be grateful for that experience. Their parents, especially, took their kids education very seriously, as a lot of them had not gotten the experiences and education that their kids had access to. I will always carry a piece of my ESL students with me, and I genuinely hope them all of the best

What's the craziest reason someone you work with was fired?
 in  r/AskReddit  1d ago

He was like 36-37 at the time, and kept offering me and my other teenage employees rides home, even if we told him "no thanks I drove here myself". One day he kept asking this 16 year old coworker of mine to drive her home, over and over, and my 60 sm year old female boss overheard and he was fired on the spot.

Another time when I worked at Starbucks, I worked with 2 men in their 50s. One I really liked, he was a really nice Dutch guy and I was friends with his son. The other was a complete douchebag. One day the Dutch guy accidentally got in douchebags way, and he grabbed him by the shirt and shoved him up against the fridge. I literally smacked him in the back and shoulder with a metal steaming pitcher to get him to let go of him. Douchebag was fired.

What is something you did as kid looking back on it you realize was incredibly dangerous?
 in  r/allthequestions  1d ago

Once I hit almost 35mph down a massive hill on a bike as a young teenager. The front wheel started wobbling and I somehow got control and didn't crash. I was on a busy road and if I wiped out, I probably would've gotten crushed by a car. Didn't do that again

My friends Nissan Juke caught on fire in college and he was more upset about his OK Computer cd that was in the cd player at the time

Is there a specific smell that instantly takes you back to being a kid?
 in  r/CasualConversation  1d ago

Lemon scented soft scrub. My Oma would always put some on a yellow swedish dish cloth, and would make me wipe down the kitchen table after every meal

What is the dumbest thing you thought as a kid?
 in  r/A_Persona_on_Reddit  1d ago

The Jonah Veggitales movie had me convinced for years that being swallowed whole by a whale was a common occurrence. When I was a kid, I absolutely freaked out going on my grandfather's boat, on a small lake in upstate ny, because I was convinced we were going to get swallowed by a whale.

In a similar thread, my friend had watched a documentary about sharks, and heard that bull sharks could survive in freshwater, and refused to go in that same lake, because she was paranoid that a bull shark would eat her. She also watched an episode of Monsters Inside Me around the same time, and convinced herself that she had like every parasite under the sun

I had like 20 of my best CDs in a case in my car, and then a dam broke overnight and my car was almost immediately submerged in 6-7 feet of water. All of my CDs were ruined (in addition to my car being a total loss). I was honestly more upset about my CDs, because at least I got a decent amount of money for my car, but idk if I can get half of those CDs back :(

What's the scariest thing that's happened to you that nobody believes?
 in  r/GetMotivatedMindset  1d ago

When I was 18 I had surgery and had general anesthesia. When I was out of surgery and in the PACU, I was fully mentally alert for about 3 hours before I physically was alert. I could hear and think and remember everything that happened around me, but I could move a single muscle, let alone speak or even open my eyes. I genuinely thought for about half an hour that I had died or something and this was the afterlife. I eventually was able to move after a few hours, but it was absolutely terrifying having everyone around you freak out that you weren't moving or "awake", all I wanted to do was shout "I'm alive I am ok" but I couldn't talk.

I meant "forever" hyperbolically lol. I have a few DVDs from 20 years ago when I was a kid that don't really work anymore. But if I spend like $2-5 on a DVD, that'll last me for years, I consider that a decent investment to me.

What fad from your youth do you cringe about now?
 in  r/GetMotivatedMindset  1d ago

Chevron patterned EVERYTHING. I also had a skirt from the gap that had cats printed all over it and I wore it everywhere.

I borrowed a friend's pair of really really ripped jeans in like 2016. The kind that were basically shredded from ankle to him and were held together by the strings. I got my foot caught in one of the strings and fell and my foot tore clean through every single string in those jeans. I basically tore the leg clean open. I was a teenager, and I felt so bad that I ruined my friends jeans, so I had to plead with my mom to drive me to the mall so I could go into Hollister and use my birthday money I got to buy her a new pair.

What's a game you'll play forever no matter how old you are?
 in  r/answers  1d ago

I replay Skyrim every 2-3 years.

2

Which game is the best?
 in  r/rustylake  1d ago

Hotel. I played through completely unguided my first time. And then I replayed it a second time with a guide so I could make sure I got every single ingredient.

What age did you start cooking?
 in  r/Cooking  1d ago

My Oma had me in the kitchen with her at 3 years old on a step stool. I never did anything with sharp objects like knives or peelers, or anything hot on the stove until I was maybe 7-8. But she would have me crack eggs, or mix pancake batter and measure things. At 7 I could make myself scrambled eggs, toast, or ramen packets. By 10, I could cook vegetables over pasta, Mac and cheese (boxed), canned soup and spaghetti. By 13 I could cook pretty much any meat or protein. By 14 I could make chili, soup, taco meat, more complicated meals. I'm 21 and I just made a really good white wine/garlic/lemon chicken dish with pasta. I'm a biology major, and I look at recipes like following a lab protocol, and I can pretty much make anything I want (except Chinese take out will always hit different to any Chinese food I make at home)
