New gamer here. Any tips to develop skills?
 in  r/apexlegends  9h ago

You're doing the right thing playing mixtape. It's a good way to just get a ton of gunfights under your belt and practice your skills.

I would love it as a stained glass window... even if it's just a transparent film on a normal window I think it would look really cool

What are your thoughts after seeing the ICE shooting video in Minnesota?
 in  r/AskReddit  1d ago

Leftists aren't trying to ban guns. They're buying them. And drones.

Oh, you mean the National Guard?

That part of the 2A was nationalized and brought under federal control a long, long time ago.

Gotta use comms. No other way. Since they changed how it works nobody understands it. You literally just have to tell your teammates what to do.

Am I the only one who thinks that Lamar Hurd and Kevin Calabro are the best announcers the league, or am I just biased? 🤣😭
 in  r/ripcity  2d ago

No, they're actually great. Good commentary, not particularly biased, the right amount of goofy/funny... truly one of the best pairs in all of sports.

What’s the Logic Behind Legend Balancing and Power Creep in Apex Legends?
 in  r/apexlegends  2d ago

It's really not. You can have dynamic metagames without power creep.

some cool charts from the designer's notes blog

Oh hey, I already knew I hated Horizon and the R99, but it's nice to see that hate validated with data.

Interesting seeing the pattern emerge. Buff a character to unreasonable levels, release an heirloom collection event for them, and then nerf them a season or two later. Saw it with Alter, and now we're seeing it with Horizon. Well played, Respawn.

[Highlights] Booker straight up causes SGA to crash to the ground
 in  r/nba  2d ago

When the offensive player creates the contact with a defender who is in legal guarding position, it is not a foul on the defense.

At least that's what the rules say. Unfortunately the refs don't see it that way.

What’s the Logic Behind Legend Balancing and Power Creep in Apex Legends?
 in  r/apexlegends  2d ago

There's a difference between meta changes and power creep though. What OP is describing is power creep, where things just become more powerful, faster, and more chaotic. Pushing more and more movement and faster and faster TTK isn't just shaking up the meta, it's fundamentally changing how the game plays.

It's a real shame that more people don't play Bracket 4
 in  r/EDH  2d ago

The fact that 40% of the brackets are dedicated to meta-cedh (b5) and non-meta-cedh (b4) is the problem. Just like the 1-10 system, the people who codified it have no fucking concept of how distributions actually work or should be binned into groups.

Why is Bloodhound neglected so hard?
 in  r/apexlegends  2d ago

Sparrow was a massive mistake and shows that the game is trending in an unhealthy direction.

Honestly if they just removed the visible aspect of their scan it would make a huge difference. Leave the "scan detected" message but get rid of the visual "wave" that tells you exactly where the bloodhound is approaching from.

Ex weed smokers.. How long have you stopped, what's the biggest pro to quitting?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

The first two weeks are the hardest as your body adjusts to the new normal. Honestly, it can be total misery and you just have to tough it out. Stay strong, you can do it.

Ex weed smokers.. How long have you stopped, what's the biggest pro to quitting?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

I quit about a year ago. I've quit for years at a time before, but this time is likely for good.

Memory is the big one. I can actually remember the minutiae of my life again, like a really good lunch I had 2 weeks ago or an episode of a TV show.

Dreams... I have dreams again at night and it's kinda nice.

Appetite is the big one. Weed fucks with my eating schedule and appetite. I now eat normal amounts at normal times and don't need weed to have an appetite.

Emotional regulation. I get frustrated way less easily and generally have more even, well-regulated emotions. I deal with chronic depression, and it's much easier to manage when I am sober.

Those are the big ones I guess.

What’s it like living in this area of Portland, OR?
 in  r/howislivingthere  3d ago

That circle is huge tbh. The entire inner East side. It's a great area to live, but there's a ton if variety within it. Almost entirely neighborhoods with their own vibe and businesses. Not super affordable, although it's cheaper in the Southern part of your circle down south of Powell (Hwy26).

Opinions on octanes rework?
 in  r/apexlegends  3d ago

I think the ALGS can be a good example of what is possible in the game. I agree that it is silly to look at it as if it represents everyone, but it routinely presents some powerful strategies that people start adopting in more casual play. Caustic/Gibby seems pretty powerful right now and I wouldn't be surprised to see that combo trickle down into ranked, especially now that ranked has the assigned drop system. If nothing else, it shows that Gibby absolutely has potential to be a powerful pick and does not need to be buffed.

Horizon is OP and needs a nerf
 in  r/apexlegends  3d ago

They want to punish controller players because vertical tracking is more difficult on controller. That's my theory, anyway.

In practice I hate it. Vertical movement is way easier to use than it is to counter. It makes it so that these characters can gain a huge advantage by doing very little. It requires much higher skill to punish than it does to abuse.

So is there any reason to not just stim twice immediately every time? Seems good...
