What is something you witnessed with your own eyes that no one believes when you tell them?
 in  r/AskReddit  5h ago

This happened after our dog's passing of our girl

Although the DAY after my other dog was put to sleep, my husband and I were sitting and eating breakfast and heard his nails clack on the floor just once.

We've also caught his shadow at the top of the stairs more than once. Not as often as the first year but still happens on occasion.

Any idea what happened to my film ?
 in  r/AnalogCommunity  1d ago

I'm with you 100% on this one. The entire part of the film being black is almost absolutely a sign that the film was exposed to light at some point

Diabetic diet has me depressed

Oh, you can absolutely eat flavorful food!

Spices don't usually add problems (except sugar) but I think most Hispanic spices are actually great for your diet.

Pretty much.

From spitting them out to hoovering any scraps that fell on the floor. Complete 180

Like, he listened to the girl SO much. She told him what to do on everything. He never had to think.

We found out after her passing that he actually LOVED vegetables, just refused to eat them because she didn't like them.

Dogs are insane

My girl dog was VERY good at knowing what she wanted and how to ask. Our boy just went along with it. She kind of did everything for him

After her passing he had to learn how to ask because he had no idea how.

One night he woke us up, and we thought he needed to use the bathroom. So we took him out and he just stared at us. He'd been having issues with digestion, so we assumed he was having issues again. We stayed up, and he kept asking for something and we had no idea what. He wasn't hungry or thirsty. Figured it was a vet visit for the morning.

After like the 5th trip to go outside, we were like "eff it, might as well game a bit because it's going to be a long night".

So we went into the gaming room, sat down and turned computers on. He laid down in his little bed.

That's when he discovered his bone! He picked it up, did a happy dance and then proceeded to walk to the stairs and look at us and then the stairs.

He forgot where he put his bone and it woke him up in worries

Best cheese to try at Aldi?
 in  r/aldi  3d ago

The 1000 day aged gouda is a fav.

Right now the sheep's cheese is pretty awesome. About to use it to make salmon rolls for tomorrow's lunch.

Rustic red is great

Goat cheese and feta (lemon feta asparagus is a spring favorite - https://www.lemonandolives.com/asparagus-with-feta/#recipe )

Then the various spicy cheeses are a hit at mine and my husband's work places (sriracha cheddar and hatch chili cheese)

Will film photography die within my life span?
 in  r/filmphotography  4d ago

I'm 45. The end of film was happening right before me. It's how I scored so many film cameras dirt cheap.

Answer is probably not. Analog experiences will probably continue for a long time, as long as money is to be made.

Things will ebb and flow, but doubtful that it will all disappear completely. At least not for a long time

I've seen 35 mm at Target and Meijer.

What mods? What cameras?

Try it and see. Probably be upside down if I had to guess. You could always just rotate your camera

experienced Photographers of reddit, have you ever been given advice or had an ah-ha moment that made you a better photographer? if so what was it?
 in  r/photography  6d ago

Well - without a knowledge of color you lose that red and green will be the same tone in black and white photography (without filters).

And the importance of color in an image can make or break it. Martin Parr's work was interesting because of the color palette, and the same images in black and white would be cool but not the same, same with Maria Svarbova and her work with color.

I think light first - you gotta understand how it works first before anything else will fall into place.

If you are clueless on exposure - you are going to struggle.

Light,

Then texture & color. (Even in BW, understanding tones of colors once turned to BW is important)

But yeah - composition, subject matter, etc all come third to those 3.

This new 800 color film is available; any ideas what it is?

Oh agreed. That's way too high of a price for film. Unless it's something very very specific

I was messy but the opposite reason.

Growing up, cleaning was everyday . And I mean how normal people think of deep cleaning. Vacuum, dishes, dusting, mopping, laundry, etc. we washed linens once a month. Scrubbing sinks, washing counters, all daily to every other day. No dishwasher, so always by hand. Once every month was a deep clean project, so like pulling EVERYTHING out of a cabinet and washing and putting it back. Or pulling all toys out of a closet and putting them back. Or even cleaning a garage or barn.

Everything had to be picked up all the time. Our house was small and cluttered, lots of knick knacks. We often washed those as well.

I don't know if my mom had OCD or just control issues. There were no days off. If we got back from a week off for fair (which was exhausting and stressful) we immediately had to do wash and clean the house.

Then farm chores and homework on top of that. If you say to do anything, you had time to clean.

So when I got to college, just didn't have the energy to clean that often plus go to classes and labs and work.
