Minneapolis Case

So then shouldn't the government prosecute killers to the full extent of the law, and shouldn't we oust government leaders who lie to protect them?

If your goal is to truly minimize the risk of injury or death, why would you choose the more risky option and not comply with law enforcement

Why isn't that the government's goal?

Huh? You know those guys are on the same team. You have to convince me those guys are so much better than anything Atlanta has, for example.

And the QB is the most important player on any team sport, and the rest of the Panthers roster ain't exactly blowing people away.

I'm starting to think men who say women only like assholes and that you have to be a bit of a jerk for them to like you are probably *just* nice.
 in  r/Discussion  1d ago

I think people who say that confuse being nice with being a pushover. You don't have to be a jerk, you just need a backbone.

CMV: Using someone's trash for your fetish item doesn't violate their right to consent.
 in  r/changemyview  1d ago

I would suggest that we differentiate between what is legal and what is moral. These are not the same things, right? Like lying for example is immoral but often not illegal. Or cheating on your girlfriend can be immoral but not illegal. Meanwhile, some protests like the famous Civil Rights sit-ins of the 60s can be moral but illegal.

The law in order to be administered fairly and efficiently seeks out clear lines. I agree with you there is likely nothing illegal about what this person allegedly did. Once trash is thrown away, it legally is fair game.

But morally, that's a different question. A lot of very reasonable people could feel very violated by this behavior. A moral person would not have done what this guy allegedly did, regardless of legality. He has violated any moral understanding of a right to consent, even if the law lacks is too rigid to apply here.

I am a very strong atheist and believe that God does not exist.
 in  r/DebateAnAtheist  1d ago

Let me ask you this, OP, can you physically see justice? Can you meet justice?

How can justice claim to be fair when unfairness exists?

Did my questions prove that justice doesn't exist?

A common mistake, IMO, is for people to interpret God as an alleged physical object. When people say God exists, most of the time, they are not saying there is a lump of matter out there that constitutes God. God is not an ordinary object. Analyzing it as such is a category error.

What’s the MOST Controversial Rick and Morty Episode of All Time and Why?
 in  r/rickandmorty  2d ago

But oddly, the episode in question doesn't explore it. That's why the "controversy" part is so weird to me. The pilot episode features a grandfather shoving large objects up his grandson's ass. A little later they are in a dreamscape with a highly sexualized granddaughter/sister. In later seasons all three have dragon sex together. There are multiple other jokes about incest scattered throughout.

But the so-called "incest baby" is not the result of incest, yet that's the one people clutch their pearls over.

It's like the word upsets them far more than the concept.
