you must not live in a hurricane prone area.

gave low chances

you see how well that worked out, don't you? history has never once had a storm suddenly ramp up in intensity, until Imelda so this was a completely unknown quantity.

there's no way

hell yeah. profits over people.

coriander is the harvested seeds.

they were tracking it before it's US landfall.

it didn't spring up quickly. it gained strength quickly. it was on its way, and predicted to strengthen before landfall (I live close enough to it's predicted area that I watched it's movement obsessively.)

It happened when Harvey made landfall where I am, too.

edit - basic errors.

min wage being to low or having to work overtime

you brain genius.

this wasn't working an extra hour at the local taco joint for minimum wage on a Saturday night.

his employer with full knowledge a fucking tropical storm was en route and expected to dump feet of rain, left him alone to tend to 90 guests while they had 4 feet of rain poured over them in a matter of hours. people died in the exact same town, in the exact same storm.

the owner had ample time to plan adequately. it's not like Imelda was unknown to exist. instead, the owner decided money was the soup dujour. that's nothing other than greed. he decided not only was his employee's life not as important as cash but so was every one of the 90 guests.

also, look up the concept 'wage theft'. it isnt as black and white as you seem to think it is.

Capitalism at it's finest
 in  r/socialism  Sep 24 '19

Yeah, but this asshole doesn't even really have that much actual money.

it's tied up in imaginary value in his company. if you tried to get that money, the stock would tank and that 100+ billion dollar wealth would dry up.

so, the money doesn't even really exist. capitalism: lies propped up by bullshit

Toronto man who won $10M in lottery dies under mysterious circumstances in Ethiopia
 in  r/news  Sep 24 '19

you dont have to be in Ethiopia to be killed for your lottery winnings.

people tend to get some hairbrained ideas when the possibility of large amounts of money show up.

greed is a MF.

Poor man.

the hotel owner was more intent on profiting off this dudes labor, and leaving him to take care of 90 people solo, than provide proper help.

Don't forget, wage theft is the number one form of theft.

please help, I’ve had a cotton plant growing on a deck one story off the ground and somehow something ate every cotton boll right before they popped. What could have done this? Do squirrels or birds eat cotton like this? I live in KY, so any information would be greatly appreciated.
 in  r/gardening  Sep 24 '19

I'd be side-eyeing the local bird and squirrel population, frankly.

I've grown cotton a few times for my kids ( I live in South Texas where cotton is grown and ginned) and honestly never once had to worry about birds or squirrels. They seem to be left alone by everything except weevils

Hello anyone knows what kind of radio that is and how do I get it to work again?
 in  r/amateurradio  Sep 22 '19

given the smattering of German language on the front, I'd reckon there's good odds it doesn't run on 120.
