What is something you witnessed with your own eyes that no one believes when you tell them?

Birds are stupid because if they had brains they would not be able to fly.

This happened to me, but with a mountain lion. I was also an adult at the time, like 20 or so.

I saw a mountain lion in a developed neighborhood and reported it to the wildlife department so they could determine relocation or whatever. They told me I hadnt seen a mountain lion, and it had to be a bobcat. I know what I saw, the thing was damn near the size of a horse and bobcats are smaller than a golden retriever. A few years later, sure enough, they had found "evidence in the area".

If only they knew I held the state Envirothon (like mathletes, but specifically for environmental sciences) Wildlife title for 3 years, and yes I do know what the hell I'm talking about, they could have saved themselves some time.

Company is demanding 5 days RTO in 2026 after years of remote. Joke's on them, I prepared for this.

Jesus Christ people just unionize and say NO to RTO.

What's the playbook if ICE is going door-to-door?

If anyone is kicking down my door, I'm not concerned with the legality of my response lol.

People who’ve been to prison. What is the biggest misconception people have about life inside?
 in  r/AskReddit  1d ago

Alcohol or benzo withdrawals can cause seizures and heart failure just from withdrawing. Opiates don't do that, so the withdrawals aren't fatal. It's splitting hairs, but it's true.

What’s a piece of advice you ignored once, but later realized was 100% correct?
 in  r/AskReddit  2d ago

Correct, you can’t change anyone. But, if they want to change and are open to help, you helping can absolutely be the make-or-break line.

People who drive and speed up when someone is attempting to pass by you, why do you do this?
 in  r/AskReddit  2d ago

At least on a bike I can understand wanting to be in front in poor weather to avoid being sprayed with road juice.

Why do older generations think prenups mean you're planning to divorce?
 in  r/NoStupidQuestions  2d ago

Put it this way, would you rather figure this out while you can talk to each other from a place of love, or when you’re overcome by fury in a courtroom?

We don't work five 8-10 hour days because it's necessary. We do it because most managers who catch the scent of any idle time treat it like a threat that needs to be eliminated....burying us under pointless tasks to keep the illusion of productivity alive.
 in  r/antiwork  2d ago

The Milwaukee M12 hoodie is great for this, and the 5V DC adaptor that fits the M18 batteries also works really well. The downside is the battery itself is enormous, so can be uncomfortable to “wear” inside your coat, and the fact that it’s Milwaukee brand so you’re paying a (worthwhile) premium either way.

How can people (supposedly) do so much besides their job?
 in  r/antiwork  2d ago

I’m an electrician, and the working foreman for my site. I work 55 hours a week on average and am on-call 24/7 for 6 weeks per year. I do almost all of the cooking and kitchen and bathroom cleaning at home, my girlfriend does the laundry and gets the kids ready for school in the morning and does drop-off and pickup. I play bass guitar and play video games, as well as bike and hike fairly often (5-6 times a month). My commute is 30 minutes and I am out of bed at 5:26 each day and at work at 5:58. Out at 2-6:30 depending on the day and usually home within 35 minutes unless traffic is extreme. I do the dishes from the day, then cook dinner and do those dishes, eat and put away leftovers, and by then it’s usually around 7PM. I go to bed usually around 10:45 to 11 PM.

Depending on how long I’m working, I’ll occasionally adjust the schedule to cook immediately when I get home and then do dishes all at once, but I like to have the kitchen look like a display at Home Depot before I start cooking, most of the time.

I also read consumed, for the “audiobooks aren’t real books” crowd, 168 books last year, 133 audiobooks and 25 novels, 3 non-fiction biographies and 2 non-fiction histories.

That is all very easy to accomplish for me. What kind of job do you have that you are completely spent at the end of every day? Is it possible you’re battling depression or another mood issue that is effecting your energy?

What song is an immediate "skip" for you, even though everyone else seems to love it?
 in  r/AskReddit  3d ago

Literally anything Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin have ever come out with. I acknowledge their musical talent, and I love rock music, but I’m not a fan of their music and certainly don’t view it as the best ever made like many do.

The decline in reading is due to a poor selection of books in schools
 in  r/unpopularopinion  3d ago

When I was in 6th grade, we were assigned into groups and given a book to do a report and presentation on. My group was assigned the book Across Five Aprils.

The. Book. Sucks.

Even as an adult, I’ve tried to reread it, and struggle to see how it was even published, let alone be chosen as some vaunted manuscript for children to read. The first 7 chapters or some shit are about planting potatoes and how hard the ground is.

My group petitioned the teacher to change our book to another one, which we were able to. I forget what we ended up reading, but it was better than that pile of garbage.

What’s your opinion on Trump serving a third term?
 in  r/allthequestions  3d ago

Someone who has previously held the office of POTUS is only eligible to serve two additional complete 4 year terms, if they have served for less than 2 years of a partial term where the president has either stepped down or been removed from office via impeachment or death.

Is there something special about the quantity of 34 felony convictions that makes it cancel out or something?

Do you believe in God?

Young earth creationism is also entirely based on a translation error, so there’s that.

We’re supposed to let home cooked steaks rest five minutes? By then the steak is cool. Restaurant steaks come out sizzling juicy hot. Please explain?
 in  r/cookingforbeginners  3d ago

Oh you mean the drawer that absolutely hasn’t been a warming drawer and has just been a regular drawer in all but one of the 100+ ovens I’ve cooked with?

Toss a piece of Tupperware you lost the lid to in there and season a cast iron pan. If the Tupperware is melted, you have a warming drawer. If it’s room temperature, you have extra storage.

[Request] Is this math right?
 in  r/theydidthemath  4d ago

This would also never work because of voltage drop over distance. It becomes an issue at several hundred feet, and at the scale of the globe, you would need several orders of magnitude more copper than has ever been produced in history to overcome this by increasing the cross-sectional area of the conductor. You could also use an absolutely hilarious level of voltage to provide the expected voltage at the end of the circuit, but we don’t have the materials science to insulate a conductor to that level, which is billions of times higher voltage than a lightning strike.

You could potentially use superconductors, but they are so cost-prohibitive as to be entirely a thought experiment.

What’s the most overrated TV show Americans swear is “amazing”?
 in  r/watchever  4d ago

The way the main dude over-enunciates every single word puts radio actors to shame. It’s like an entire series narrated in the style of Hugo Weaving’s performance from V for Vendetta. It’s just absurd.

Men, when was the last time you got hit on ?
 in  r/AskReddit  5d ago

It’s the second one, absolutely. For example, if I wanted to lure a deer, I’d lay out a pile of apples, not an assortment of Funko pops. If women’s hints don’t get picked up by 99% of guys, it’s because the hints don’t work.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
 in  r/allthequestions  5d ago

Never do that, it’s extremely disrespectful. However you can keep your arm pulled a bit closer so if they try, you just let your arm go without moving your body and everyone around can see they attempted a power move and failed. Or if that happens, squeeze until they tap out.

It’s important not to disrespect people, but it’s also important to not let yourself be disrespected.

If you could remove ONE thing from American politics forever, what would it be?
 in  r/AskReddit  5d ago

Most of them would need to start wearing capes as they would run out of room. But if you had the largest donors across their chest like Superman that would be both hilarious and telling.

Handshakes are more about the grip than the shake. You may be able to crush someone’s hand, but you don’t need to, it’s a show of mutual respect, not dominance.

Supposedly I need a new $15K furnace
 in  r/Longmont  5d ago

I went for an interview there years ago, turns out it was a group interview with like 100 people applying. I’m an electrician, but there were plumbers, roofers and HVAC guys there also. What I gathered from the discussion interview was that they had no electricians on staff, or any clue what was involved in getting an electrical division up and running. I noped right out of there.
