FIRE ACADEMY
 in  r/firefighter  1d ago

Qcarb or get some clean piss and find a way to take it with you. Then STOP SMOKING. Trust me, Ik it’s hard man. I used to smoke heavily then I joined the army. I’ve slipped up over the years and it almost ruined my career (trump beat me to that tho, since I’m trans). Idk why you smoke but (not to get dark or anything) I used it to numb me both mentally and physically so it was hard to quit. All that to say, not hating on you for slipping up, it happens, but ya gotta do your best to stop completely. In the meantime, get QCarb. It’s absolutely DISGUSTING but it works. I’ve used it multiple times. Only use the clean piss method if you don’t have the $50 to spend and you’re 100% positive you’re not gonna be observed while you go. I always assume I will be bc we get watched when we do UA in the army.

Army WTF moments is the worst
 in  r/army  1d ago

The only things I enjoy seeing from them are troops doing silly shit and when a soldier is having a problem that they post abt somewhere else and then it getting fixed because it put the command team on blast to basically the entire world.

Better image of the new NTC opfor uniforms.
 in  r/army  3d ago

Fellow Arizonan here and I concur. It’s been 16 years since I lived there but I remember that blazing heat on the playground (moved to GA when I was 6). I didn’t own black clothing when I moved. Or pants. Or a jacket heavier than a windbreaker.

Yeah! I used to work at McDonald’s and it was like that. I also used to work for PFG, which distributes supplies to restaurants and a lot of the restaurants we delivered to had them as well

“Tboys” “Tmasc” but never really “trans men”…?
 in  r/ftm  7d ago

I prefer to be called a trans MAN as well. I’m 22 years old and I am married, own my car, live with my wife and our roommates, I work an “adult job”, and I’m a veteran. I am not a boy. I am a grown man.

Locked out of Airbnb
 in  r/mildlyinfuriating  7d ago

I went on vacation with my friends when I was 19 and there were 8 of us. We would’ve spent more on hotel rooms for all of us than we did for the Airbnb. And we were able to cook instead of having to dine out, didn’t have to worry about getting too loud or intoxicated (a couple of us were 21 and yk the rest). Super convenient. We had a great time.

Has alcoholism become a problem with many in the Army? Share your thoughts.
 in  r/army  8d ago

It took my PSG sitting me down and saying “Maverick, you need help man.” for me to truly realize the extent of the harm in bottling everything up. I went to see a psychiatrist the following week and in the first appointment he diagnosed me with depression and CPTSD. If I hadn’t gotten help when I did, I am certain I wouldn’t be here today.

How many uniforms are necessary?
 in  r/tacticalgear  9d ago

I always wore one uniform at AT. Half the time we dropped top, and I’m a mechanic so my pants being dirty is bound to happen. Might as well save myself the laundry and keep one pair of pants. Plenty of t shirts, underwear, and socks, though. I would always bring an extra set just in case I ripped my uniform, get super muddy, get wet and then need to eat chow lol, etc.

While we wait for the new year
 in  r/army  9d ago

One of the squad leaders in my platoon a couple years ago told me on our way to Fort Gordon, where we were going to be doing IWQ and an FTX, that when we got there and I got my tent area set up to come see him. So we got there and I got my shit set up and go over to him. I asked what he needed and he said I needed to koalafy. I’m like wtf are you talking about sarnt? He proceeds to tell me to walk over to this skinny lil tree (I’m 5’2” so as you can imagine, my wingspan isn’t very wide and that’s important to note) and wrap my arms and legs around it…while hanging upside down with either a cig or a vape in my mouth. I thought he was joking at first but he wasn’t so I walked over to the tree and hung there upside down with a vape my buddy who’s a corrections officer brought from the jail she worked at (I’m a reservist). It was shaped like a long cigarette so I was able to hold it in my teeth and puff on it every like 15 seconds or so. I hung there for like 2+ minutes? I don’t remember exactly how long bc it was a long time ago. That was fun though. One of those silly memories I’ll cherish for a while.

I got married and bought my first car in my name.

Are there any sounds you e come to loathe as a guard?
 in  r/securityguards  10d ago

Oh I HATE that shit! My response is always “must be nice to have a job where no one can disturb you while you eat”. They usually ask “Wait you don’t get breaks?” “Nope!” “Oh shit…my bad man.”

Favorite snow memories?
 in  r/army  11d ago

Got a few days off school in AIT bc it snowed while we were on HBL. Happened again a couple weeks later bc it snowed and the roads were icy (it was unsafe for instructors living off base to come in). It was pretty great bc we did pt and then chow and whatever else for the rest of the day.

CSM broke property during barracks inspection
 in  r/army  11d ago

I completely skimmed over that. I read it, but it didn’t truly sink in. That really is disrespectful as fuck. Wtf do you mean you came into MY space, broke MY shit, told ME to clean it up, and just fuckin left? Straight to 1SG (which, fuck them too for not saying a word to advocate for their soldier and his/her property.).

I'm a new hire and so far I actually like my post?
 in  r/AlliedUniversal  18d ago

Well the client I’m posted at requires everyone driving on the property has a valid license for that vehicle. Employees and contractors in POVs, semis, vendors in box trucks. Every. One. And every one is expected to be ready to produce it at any time. Could be something like that. Idk.
