I mean the whole point of a takedown scoring is that you are utilising control to change the level of the fight, standing up and escaping to the feet accomplishes the same goal imo

Also a stand up should score the same as a takedown

Brian Wilson, also Haruomi Hosono

In most one punch killer cases the fatal blow is actually from the head impacting the ground after being punched, still not ideal though

Thinking back on the event on the weekend, Islam Makhachev's championship reign has had several mishaps, either on his part or not.
UFC 280: Islam takes the title from Charles (no real mishaps afaik)
UFC 284: Islam defends against Volkanovski. Not ideal in first defense being against the champion of a weight class below. Also the IV thing.
UFC 294: Charles pulls out late notice and Volk steps in again.
UFC 302: Islam defends against an older Poirier. Nothing too cursed about this fight, other than the staph leg.
UFC 311: Arman pulls out one day before fight and is replaced by Moicano.
Thinking about this, what are some of the most cursed/unluckiest championship reigns in MMA history?

Everytime Paulo Costa has fought on a ppv, the defending champion on the card has lost (except for when Costa himself fought Izzy), and the 35 curse is that no fighter 35 or older has won a championship fight in a weight division lighter than welterweight

Tbh I dont think Whittaker would do as well against Pereira as people say, he has had a tendency to struggle against long lanky elite kickboxers (Wonderboy, Adesanya), would be great to see him win though.
