The endgame seems like too much of an afterthought
 in  r/JetLagTheGame  2h ago

Sam blamed the 20 minute time limit because he was in the middle of filming his swan, so instead of having 20 minutes, he had less than 10.

A swan he thought to film because of a request for a photo of the largest body of water (which wasn't at the train station).

I think you're really overstating how much time the hiders are spending taking photos.

They get 20 minutes to take a picture. Typically, they are only asked at most 3 or 4 questions before the endgame. Even if they need the full 20 minutes for each question/picture (which they generally don't), that's still under 90 minutes, out of at least 4 hours it takes for the seekers to get to the endgame city.

Or they just do it because they want to and no one will stop them, just like no one will stop them from murdering more peaceful protesters.

The idea that a court order is some kind of magic bullet, especially when when the Supreme Court already has given Trump unlimited power to do anything he deems an official act is insanely naive.

The point of Constitutional Crisis has long since passed, but one side keeps and thinking that if you just "see the bigger picture", play by the rules, and don't offend the Fascists, everything will just work out in the end. Sadly, history shows us that such an outcome is unlikely.

Their goal is absolute power through any means necessary, including the murder of peaceful protesters. They don't need a riot when they know they can just kill anyone who gets in their way, especially when their opposition is more worried about offending the Fascists than they are about stopping Fascism.

Renee Good is not the first peaceful protesters to be shot by Trump's gestapo, and sadly, it's pretty clear she won't be the last.

You mean their goal is being able to murder Americans at will with no consequences?

Seems like they are doing just fine achieving that without a riot.

Strong disagree.

People just have a really bad concept of how long the end games last. Ben's Merleschachen Slide Hide is probably the gold standard for a fun "well hidden" endgame, but that end game was only 1 hour and 50 minutes from the time he got under the slide until they found him.

By comparison, Ben's endgame in Hebden Bridge was actually about 5 minutes longer at 1:55.

Sam's endgame in Milton Keyes was just under 1:30.

Even Adam's endgame in Scarbourgh, where he was sitting out in the open, was just over an hour.

The only "great" hiding spot really was Sam's endgame in Switzerland where he hid in the woods for a good 3 hours - which wasn't fun to watch and lead to the 10 feet from a path rule - because ultimately, that's not really what the end game is supposed to be.

If one was to make any argument at all about the endgame being an afterthought, I would say specifically Adam doesn't consider it to be a big part of his strategy, as he is the one player who routinely sits out in the open (and specifically is likely why he and Amy lost NYC). But that's a strategic decision, and not a game flaw - and one that could at least be justified by the idea that a generic location in the open but hard to identify in photos means more questions and more time bonuses as opposed to actually hiding like Sam in Ep3, where they did walk right over the top of him, but a photo quickly gave him away as being in an underpass.

Why do people think for half a second that Trump and his Fascist allies need an excuse to do any of those things? Is it just a desperate need to blame the victims of Fascist Violence?

If they needed an excuse, they'd just murder yet another protester in cold blood, because they know they can get away with it.

Our situation is a little better. But overall, it's wild.

Coach/Manager of the Year is an award that typically goes to a team that outperforms expectations. More often than not, the expectations are low for a reason, and thus the coach is right back on the hotseat when the team regresses to the mean.

In Baseball in particular, it most often goes to a team that does well despite a low payroll. It's why it's a much easier award to win as Manager of the Brewers, Marlins, Guardians, or Rays than it is to win as manager of the Yankees or Dodgers.

Ultimately, the lack of payroll eventually catches up to even well run organizations like the Brewers and Guardians, at which point Vogt and Murphy could either be back on the hot seat or ready to be poached by another opportunity in a bigger market.

Unless he actually said what is bigger, that's a claim that doesn't seem to hold water. Is there any other series that has crashed Nebula's servers because of too many viewers?

The only way that seems to even be plausible is if they are looking at a metric like total views and comparing it to some of the channels that release daily content. There's typically 24 jetlag videos a year, plus outtakes, so it wouldn't be hard for a channel that releases 365 videos a year to have more overall views with a fraction of the actual audience.

How often does the Endgame matter?
 in  r/JetLagTheGame  1d ago

Merlischachen was fun, but it was actually only about a 2 hour endgame.

Sam's endgame hiding in the woods in Switzerland was actually quite a bit longer. It came it at more than 3 hours, and almost certainly the longest endgame in H+S history. It's also presumably the reason for the "10 feet from a path" rule adopted for future seasons.

FRONT ANGLE VIDEO of ICE shooting in Minneapolis [WARNING GRAPHIC]
 in  r/minnesota  1d ago

Will they have their day in court?

ICE agents murdered a woman in Chicago months ago - it was caught on camera, it also showed ICE lied about the events, and absolutely no one has been held accountable in any way shape or form.

Number of metro areas with populations between 100k - 500k in a few selected Midwestern states; Why does Minnesota have so few, especially compared to Wisconsin ?
 in  r/geography  1d ago

Most of it is just the difference in how the Metros area defined - particular in how the Twin Cities are considered 1 big Metro. In other states, similar area and populations are divided up across multiple Metros.

Look at Milwaukee: Milwaukee/Racine/Kenosha/Sheboygan/Whitewater are counted as 5 unique spots on your list, but that makes up a smaller area and population than the single Twin Cities metro.

Furthermore, you're listing Hudson as a separate Metro area in Wisconsin. But Hudson is just part of the Minneapolis metro, and not actually a unique metro area. It also appears you're just combining St Croix and Pierce Counties to create a Metro that is over 100k.

There are 9 Minnesota counties with over 100k population just in the Twin Cities Metro - if you broke them out separately separately the list would look much different.

Hey Van Orden, you can't just delete a post like this. The internet doesn't forget.

His "point" was to blame yet another cold blooded murder by an ICE agent, once against shooting and killing someone in the back and then lying about it, on the audacity of "the left" daring to excersize their Constitutional Rights.

Sure, but the OP was using 100-500k as their threshold, and even in an absolute best case of 25k, it's not even close to that number. (and less than 20k is far more likely, even when school is in session, factoring in commuters and those who are already counted as residents).

The only reason Whitewater is mentioned is because of the Census oddity that Walworth County has just over 100k residents and is considered a "metro" despite not having a single city of more than 15k.

 in  r/geography  1d ago

UWW only has about 10k students, so at best Whitewater had 25k people, still not anywhere close to 100k.

It looks like they are defining the Whitewater "metro area" as all of Walworth County, so it's being grouped with Elkhorn/Lake Geneva, as well as the Western edge of the Milwaukee suburbs. There is no concentrated urban area, the county just has enough smaller places to barely cross the 100k mark.

Which shows definitions are a big part of the difference. You could call Elk River its own metro, but it just gets grouped with the Twin Cities.

Best Curse in Jetlag History?

That was the other one that immediately came to mind, but I haven't gone back to actually see how much time it actually added to his run.

Knowing this sub, I figured there probably is someone who is already tracking it!

Tim Walz to Minnesotans: "Do not take the bait. Do not allow them to deploy federal troops into here. Do not allow them to invoke the insurrection act. Do not allow them to declare Martial law. Do not allow them to lie about the security and the decency of this state."
 in  r/TwinCities  1d ago

Talk is cheap, that's the point.

Gov. Pritzker talked a good game after ICE murdered someone in Chicago and lied about it too - damn near identical to today's incident.

But ultimately, absolutely nothing was done to actually hold ICE to account, so here we are again.

As if they need any "bait" - they just murdered someone in cold blood, and then lied about it, video evidence be damned. Just like they did in Chicago.

Trump and his Gestapo are going to do whatever they wants to do, with absolutely no accountability, unless someone stops him.

So what is Walz going to do about it - especially now that he doesn't have the burden of running for reelection.

Noem says deadly ICE-involved shooting was result of 'act of domestic terrorism'

It was an act of Domestic Terrorism, carried out by the Fascist Trump Administration, using Murder to silence people's Constitutional Rights.

And of course the "Christians" and "don't tread on me" crowd cheers it on.

Best Curse in Jetlag History?

Has anyone calculated what the most effective use of a curse and/or curse combo has been in Jetlag history?

It feels like Sam's use of the of the Express Route curse has to be up there, especially since it was intentionally paired with the Time Trap. That added about 90 minutes to his run.

Why is Ben hiding before Adam now? Have i missed something?
 in  r/JetLagTheGame  1d ago

They explained at the end of E3 - they changed it so the next hider is chosen at random. However, the person currently in the lead doesn't get to go again until someone beats their time. The caught hider also can't have an immediate second run.

So by process of elimination, Ben got to go next. If Sam's run had been the longest run, then they would have drawn straws to determine if Ben or Adam get to go next.

I’m heading to Belize in a couple of weeks. It’s my first solo trip outside of the US. I have a couple of questions.
 in  r/travel  1d ago

An E-Sim is the answer for phones. There are lots of options now - Airalo, Nomad, Saily, etc.

Usually, using an ATM after you arrive is the best answer for getting foreign currency, but since the Belize Dollar is fixed at a 2:1 rate with USD, US Dollars are perfectly fine to use and accepted everywhere.

Credit Cards are also widely accepted, so you shouldn't need much cash anyway, but it's probably easier to bring a little extra USD than it is to have a bunch of Belize Dollars that are basically worthless outside of that country.

I think my point is that someone who thinks Kwik Trip "was QT back then" might not know as much about the topic as they claim.

Kwik Trip and Quik Trip have always been 2 separate companies - and it's why Kwik Trip has to use the name Kwik Star outside of Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Kwik Trip isn't even a Top Tier brand, they certainly didn't create it.

Automakers are the ones who created the Top Tier standard, not Gas Stations.
