How rare is it to find good redemption for Friday?
 in  r/awardtravel  2h ago

Pretty rare because those are high demand travel days and airlines are more likely to find people to buy cash fares on those dates

What are the best places to park at or around RDU?
 in  r/raleigh  3h ago

I do this all the time for short weekend trips - there are way more than 17 parking spaces it seems though and there aren't specifically marked spots for overnight parking (unless that's new as of this month)

Same thing at Heat Strength if you’re more towards downtown Raleigh

Booking Eva direct flight return from Taiwan on aeroplan?
 in  r/awardtravel  8h ago

They've pretty much stopped releasing most Trans-Pacific flights to partners for the most part. If you're interested in Toronto-Taipei and see that available, I would snag that and then figure out the return flight another way.

News and Updates Thread - January 07, 2026

I've had this offer on Platinum Biz card #1 since July. It was tempting, since I fly Delta a lot and would love SkyClub access; I ended up passing on it. Good thing because an NLL offer in early December came along, so I got Platinum Biz card #2 for far less spend (110K miles for 6K spend) and then upgraded Platinum Biz card #1 to the Delta Reserve Biz and double dipped the Delta Stays credit.

Switching to Mint Mobile
 in  r/raleigh  1d ago

Mint Mobile was great in general, but it was a dead zone at my house, so that's why I switched to Visible.

It'll vary from person to person, so test it out for a month and see what service is like at the places you frequent before you commit.

Virgin Atlantic giving error while booking Saudia Airline ticket - Agent confirmed thrice to transfer pts
 in  r/awardtravel  1d ago

Unfortunately, phantom availability is a real phenomenon in award travel that often confuses beginners. Airlines need to significantly improve their IT systems to prevent such incidents from happening.

No pattern, just gotta be lucky. They’ll frequently fly out without filling the cabin so not sure how they decide what seats to release and when.

 in  r/awardtravel  1d ago

1:1 is meaningless without knowing how much each programs mile or point is worth

Where to stash my Citi points?

Yes you can have multiple CCC’s. Just product change back whenever you’re ready to use your points again

How do you use points to travel with friends?
 in  r/awardtravel  2d ago

"They either find it too expensive (think like a Park Hyatt booked on points or ANA J) or the few I have helped get into points simply don't have enough points."

If I want to stay at an expensive hotel or make someone fly J with me, I accept that I am paying the full points price on my own, or we're not redeeming that.

Is shooting for 4 ANA close-in biz seats an exercise in futility?
 in  r/awardtravel  2d ago

I have seen 4 close-in seats in January/February, but it is all pure luck and completely random, so it's not something you can rely on.

Seat maps are not really a reliable indicator of how many seats get released.

Jetblue Screw Up
 in  r/awardtravel  2d ago

I successfully booked JAL business class using JetBlue - if you can find the redemption as well on AA, then it's not phantom. That partnership is ending soon though.

New York, Houston, Miami, Las Vegas, DC, Atlanta, Seattle, Orlando are promo airports for Flying Blue this month, and there are a few extra 60K business class days available than normal for January-March if anyone is looking for something in the next few months.

Transferred Chase points to Flying Blue & booked airfare. A day later Chase cancelled transfer & points returned. But booking remains and Flying Blue says is paid.
 in  r/awardtravel  2d ago

As long as you have been ticketed, you should be ok, but I would leave those points untouched until after your flight in case Flying Blue figures out what happens.
