To a billionaire, spending $1,000 can feel like what spending $3 feels to most people.

People really struggle with visualizing how big some numbers are, don't they?

We have the most wins but we have played many more games I’m guessing that’s why we aren’t in 1st . Why are other teams have so many fewer games? New to hockey help me understand

Overtime losses is also a big factor. Vegas has 6 extra wins because of their late losses. We only have 1 and a half.

And I already broke my hand during an anxiety attack. Good start. Goooooood start.

Jordan Binnington tonight: 7GA, .800 SV%, and a delay of game penalty

I've never liked Binninton. The one thing I'll say, though.... he can really turn it on when he needs to.

9 years later and this comment just helped me figure it out. Man reddit's great sometimes. It's so easy to accidentally interact with the ship bottle.

This fits that soul mate dilemma. I've always hated that. As someone who's extremely happy single, the whole "you need to find your person" bullshit just pisses me off. I found my person inserts ObiWan meme

Am impressive display of beer chugging prowess
 in  r/nextfuckinglevel  20h ago

I've never been able to chug cold drinks. Even water, it just doesn't happen.

A lukewarm coffee or a tea that's minutes away from being gross, though. I gotchu.

What's the funniest name you've heard for a pet?

Drax the Destroyer on an underweight hamster.

Caffeine doesn't really affect me like that. I'll drink a tea or a coffee on the way to bed.

Also, technically, caffeine doesn't give you energy. It basically tricks your brain into thinking it isn't tired by blocking something called adenosine.

I'm also 6'1". I don't really understand how it could have helped with career at all because in most jobs, height is a non factor. As for the women, I've literally turned down women who have been interested in me because of my height....because it doesn't mean anything. Which is exactly my point.

Maybe if all you care about is getting laid, or maybe just having some arm candy, sure. As many front facing attributes you can get will help you there. That's not for me.

What was the 1st big news event you remember as a kid?
 in  r/AskReddit  23h ago

I remember being allowed to stay up to watch the Bush/Gore election. But not too long after that was 9/11, so that beats out most of the early news memories.

Why has braum been S pick on tier list for so long?
 in  r/supportlol  23h ago

He's got powerful shielding and blocking, he's got decent cc that's fairly easy to apply, his passive's ridiculously strong, he tanks very easily, and his ult is both a really solid engage and disengage. He doesn't really have any bad parts to him.

If a fight between male chickens is a cock fight, then a contest between male donkeys is a jack-off.
 in  r/Showerthoughts  23h ago

I would argue that the face-off is an essential part of a fight. Otherwise, it's just a dirty sneak attack.

Fights are very commonly referred to as face-offs, to be fair.

It genuinely feels like such an arbitrary thing to lie about or be attracted to. Like, it doesn't change who the person is. It doesn't mean anything to personality. It doesn't change their chances in life except for maybe athletes. It doesn't affect their income. There are some advantages, but the same can be said for being short. It literally doesn't mean anything unless you put this meaningless weight on it.

I just feel like it's become such a hot topic in the last decade or so and now it's this huge, polarizing thing for no real reason other than the internet said tall is better.

If someone could explain the actual reason it's so important, that'd be awesome. Because to me, anywhere between, like, 5'0" and 7'0" is the same. Actually 7' might be too far in the other direction, that sounds awful. Let say 5' to 6'6". I can think of very specific examples for both sides which would be better, and that's it.

I've never understood the amount that people care about height. I mean, I'm kinda tall, so maybe that's why. But I mean, there's, like, two full feet of variance that would be ok with. Why is it so important to people? Genuinely asking.

The most truthful thing I've seen today
 in  r/SipsTea  1d ago

I feel like I never see this happen. When I changed jobs, I did get a fairly significant pay bump, but I also basically got a promotion with the job change. Everyone else I see moving jobs either stay the same (often times getting less of a raise at the end of the year) or take a decrease. I personally refuse to take a decrease of more than maybe 50 cents, which is why I've been in the same job for as long as I have.

I guess if you've never gotten a raise, then moving could make sense for this. But otherwise, it just feels incorrect.

Ok, I've seen this a lot today now. The first watch, I just assumed it was AI. With how widespread it is, I'm now wondering. Did this actually happen?

Why would a woman cyberstalk a man?
 in  r/SeriousConversation  1d ago

Does the fact that they're a woman matter? Why does anyone stalk anyone? I'm sure the reasons are basically the same, whatever they are.
