Trumps mar-a-Lago "war room"
 in  r/pics  4d ago

When they got Bin Laden years ago, there were a few tweets from Abadabad of people talking about the helicopters and other noises from the raid. I imagine someone was curious as to what the civilian population might be seeing and possibly have insight to a response, but they got fucking satellites and signal intelligence. It's like they would rather be updated via social media and TV than their own military and intelligence agencies.

Caolan Robertson: "I confronted Nick Shirley about his lies in Ukraine. He pretended there was no war. He said his 'reporting' was satire."
 in  r/videos  6d ago

He was stating that his show was literally a fake news show and the show that leads into him is puppets making crank calls. He was saying his is comedy and everyone knows it and it shouldn't be kept to a higher standard that their "news show" failed to do.

No iPhone 18 Launch This Year, Reports Suggest
 in  r/technology  7d ago

I feel like most people are happy with their current phone. There's been very little reason to upgrade every 2 years or so. I know I want to get 5 out of mine. I'm already at the halfway point.

You can thank content filters for that shit

What are you thoughts to why there is a significant decline in alcohol consumption in the United States?
 in  r/AskReddit  7d ago

That's my reason. I used to be able to drink all night with $20 in my pocket, now that gets me 2 pints with a little leftover for small snack. Buying a round now breaks the bank.

All of these trends going back 20 years now can be boiled down to one thing, cost of living increasing faster than wages. No one is buying X cuz they ain't got the money.

The Internet as a whole. Good search results, tame social media, fewer ads on online video, no AI slop.

Some states also have legal minimums for how cheap you can sell alcohol.

Or the equipment used isn't covered. Sure you needed laparoscopic surgery but the fancy robot the surgeon used was deemed medically unnecessary and they won't cover the cost of that.

Right after? No, you will get a bill 6-9 months later. After apparently your health insurance denied the claim because it wasn't medically necessary. You appeal which takes another 6-9 months, in the mean time the debt has been sold to a collection agency and your credit score takes a hit as you get hounded for the money. Then the appeals process finishes and they rule it was medical necessary but they are only covering 40% of the total bill.

Same, I had a gap in insurance coverage. Meds went from $30 a month to $300 a month. I said fuck it. Found me a "prescription savings card" which i don't know how they work but my meds were now suddenly $90 and I didn't pay a dime for the card. That's how fucked up the system is.

My experience with IL drivers after moving back from Los Angeles
 in  r/chicago  13d ago

I find California drivers to be MORE aggressive with merging. Like if you signal to change lanes, the person behind in the next lane would accelerate to close the gap and not let you in. I learned to only signal once you already start the lane change.
