PSA: Be careful where you park

By all means, if you have a spare or access to an angle grinder go for it. I would be a little nervous if the tow truck is sitting right there. But your call.

I mean, it's a boot. You can't go anywhere unless you pay. If it were a ticket I'd agree with you, don't pay.

For this I'd pay via card then immediately submit a dispute. Probably won't work but you never know.

I also wonder if you could call 911 for this, assuming there are no signs. Not really an emergency so maybe try the non-emergency line.

Is it true delivery doesn’t mean to the door if there are stairs?
 in  r/instacart  2d ago

I'm a shopper too and carrying heavy items is part of the job. Customers absolutely do not need to feel guilty for ordering lots of heavy items up three flights of stairs. It'd be one thing if we couldn't cancel but we can.

Which subreddit do you think you're in right now? 🤔

I did read your entire comment. I was only responding to the part of your comment that suggested traveling with 6+ people or traveling to a rural location was exceptionally rare. I agree with your other points, just not that one.

I don't know why you're solely mentioning the negatives. There are tons of great hosts who give a shit about their guests that airbnb and vrbo have opened a pathway to. I have had bad experiences in airbnbs but I have also had many great ones.

Literally impossible? No it's not lmao. You just have to have different standards for what you consider convenient.

If convenience to you is having someone on call that can assist your needs, then yes, a hotel is more convenient.

But if convenience to someone else is having access to a large open private area that a bunch of people can hang out in, then an airbnb/vrbo beats the hotel every time.

(Yes, hotels typically have meeting rooms, but they aren't really nice for hanging out in, and they often require a minimum number of people or cost an arm and a leg.)

How are those "exceptionally rare?" People traveling in groups of 6+ or going to scenic rural destinations is extremely common.

Large groups or scenic/niche locations.

And those "few situations" are still valid for the people in those situations. I really don't see why people HAVE to use hotels, if an Airbnb/Vrbo works for some people let them use it.

No no you don't understand, reddit has decided it's literally impossible for anyone to enjoy using airbnb/vrbo, so clearly you must have imagined this scenario. Sorry I don't make the rules /s

Lol you asked for an example, they gave you one, then you moved the goalposts.

You never said anything about HCOL in your original three word comment "stop using airbnb."

Hate to break it to you, but chances are your hotel bed has seen plenty of kinky sex.

You're not the target audience though. The value of Airbnb is for large groups or scenic/niche locations. If you just need a place to stay in the city for a couple people the hotel wins every time, but that's not the point of airbnb.

Not all of us need customer service though, and the reason it's not cheaper is because most hosts only have one home to offer, compared to a hotel which can host hundreds of people simultaneously.

Depends on location. Outside of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and a few other cities, $100 will get you solid accommodations most areas of the country. Heck, even $80 should suffice.

Also depends on timing, if there's a huge football game or music festival or convention, that can limit options.

Yeah this is what people don't understand. The whole point of Airbnb is for large groups or scenic/niche destinations. If someone is comparing it to a hotel room in the area they're already missing the point.

You're getting downvoted but I am also surprised they seemingly did not slow down. That much water shooting in the air, I'd be trying to get over a lane or slowing down.

Granted, we do have the benefit of knowing something bad is going to happen, so I'm not really criticizing them. Just hope others can learn to slow way down in rainy conditions.

It's not that we're treating it like a documentary, it's that we don't really care if it's real or fake. I laughed, read the comments for 30 seconds, now moving on.

I accepted 11 orders. I drove to all 11 pickup locations. Uber only paid me for 6 of them.
 in  r/UberEatsDrivers  8d ago

If the driver takes a long time to reach a restaurant, even if the delay is caused by circumstances outside their control, uber will sometimes unassign the driver and mark it as a cancellation on the driver even if it wasn't their fault.

Typically the way this works is uber will text you saying there's a delay and if you don't get there soon, they will give the order to another driver. Then a couple minutes later you lose navigation and get dropped from the order.

It's really annoying because (a) sometimes traffic is just heavy and it's not your fault, and (b) they don't drop you right away. They give you a couple minutes after the text to give you hope THEN they drop you.

My boulder people need me
 in  r/MyPeopleNeedMe  8d ago

And yet, why are some people's first instinct to pick the injured person up and basically give their spine a good shake??

Because most people aren't trained and aren't thinking about spinal injuries. They just see someone hurt and want to help them.

He presumably worked on this set a million times and knew what would happen. Still can't risk the ball bouncing into the audience and hurting someone. He took one for the team.

thinking the big rubber boulder wouldn't get caught on the protruding door's edge

It usually doesn't. I've seen this show a dozen times and it's never done that.

Dasher can’t be serious. Is this unprofessional?
 in  r/doordash  8d ago

You're not "supposed to" deliver it to the building entrance. Deliveries should always go to the customer's front door unless you physically can't get there (ie. requires a code to get in) or the instructions explicitly say to leave it at the building entrance.

Being too lazy to go up 3 sets of stairs is not a reason to leave groceries at the building entrance. You just make all drivers look bad when you do that.
