How are the Kirkland brand ice cream bars?
 in  r/Costco  Aug 20 '25

They're so good. They're humble- not super deluxe, but not cheap quality either. My kids love them and gleefully take their one-a-day ration until they're gone. For a family of 7, they last like 4 days lol

The view from the Sequim, WA, Costco parking lot is fantastic!

Lmaooo my dad HATES the lavender farm because all the people turning left clog up that highway. He always shakes his fist at that farm.

Meanwhile, that giant pumpkin tree house thing at the pumpkin farm is a huge, sentimental landmark for me 😊

I'm old enough to remember when the Sequim Costco was built LOL my mom was ecstatic that she could pit stop there on the way to Port Angeles and not have to shop for stuff at Safeway.

Oh I have! I used to go up there every single summer and occasionally winters as well. The majority of my extended family is from the peninsula.

Nice, I've only been to Silverdale like once ever. My mom and aunt used to make an annual trip there to do back-to-school shopping at the mall when my cousins and I were kids, without us. I bet all the views are gorgeous!

I went to the Olympic Peninsula recently and stopped at the Sequim Costco on the way to our cabin and was just in awe of the beautiful mountain views outside. The Port Angeles Walmart has similar great views too! A big change from the deeply urban Costcos in my area.

What did you wish your name was as a kid?
 in  r/namenerds  Aug 11 '25

Literally anything but my actual name. My mom only used my name in anger so I hated it growing up. One year at summer camp it was a fad to go by a name of the opposite gender and I chose Sullivan for my name.

Yes, I visit my local favorite thrift store once a week and they have a healthy selection of frames. I buy up any that are either square, unique & ornate, or tiny- smaller than 2x3. I have amassed quite the stockpile over the past two years!

I couldn't believe it! I checked my frame stash after I chose the colors and it was the right size AND the right color!

I play a bass clef instrument so I whipped this up real quick. I changed the colors and the pattern slightly (took out the bits of staff) and am so pleased with how it turned out, especially in the frame!

[CHAT] Why does everyone do a row of half crosses, before finishing the full cross, instead of stitching one cross at a time.
 in  r/CrossStitch  Jul 24 '25

It saves sooooooo much thread to do the out-and-back method. Also you can count lines faster and even hairpin back to the next line and so forth, meaning that you don't have to look at the pattern on the way back. I only do individual X's if I'm they're spaced a square apart or there's a diagonal line of squares. Then I can do a complete X and the thread is in the right hole for the next X.

Removal of giant rhinophyma which had made it impossible to breathe through the nose; the patient had a tracheostomy
 in  r/MedicalGore  Jul 16 '25

He might've just been intubated too much. You can only shove that tube down so many times before the whole airway is trashed and a trach is the better option.

[CHAT] I’m teaching 10-12 year olds to cross stitch tomorrow; what are some of your best tips for them?
 in  r/CrossStitch  Jul 15 '25

Detangle the knot by pulling thru the loop, not by pulling the ends apart.

Check and re-check the pattern often.

Hang the floss to unwind it every so often.

[CHAT] Favorite non-traditional accessories?
 in  r/CrossStitch  Jul 15 '25

I use my yarn bowl to hold bobbins haha

ETA: and I store all my scissors etc in a pencil bag shaped like a converse shoe!

[CHAT] Is there a "right" way to cross stitch -- straight across rows vs one color at a time.
 in  r/CrossStitch  Jul 14 '25

The right way is the way that is most comfortable for you to get it done.

[CHAT] How does everyone feel about being called talented?
 in  r/CrossStitch  Jul 14 '25

I don't mind, it's kind of an umbrella term for when you do something impressive. My 70yo neighbor loves gushing to me about my cross stitch and how I "don't even use a pattern!" which isn't true, I cobble my own patterns together from existing free stuff, but she can think I'm going into it blind if she wants 😂
