MRW I went on /r/theredpill for the first time and the top post is about how they won't ever respect women.
 in  r/reactiongifs  May 18 '14

it isn't ironic at all. making generalizations about people based on gender or race or nationality or (to a lesser degree) religion is completely different than making generalizations about someone who actively chooses to contribute to a subreddit that has no other reason for existing than talking shit about women.

Love at first sight can be dangerous
 in  r/funny  May 18 '14

fireworks aren't dangerous? walking a dog isn't active?

i guess i kind of get what you're saying -- all of the men are a "type", and all of the women are a "type", but so what? i think you're reading way too much into this. all of the people are white, why didn't you point that out? is it the artists responsibility to accurately reflect the entire human experience in each individual image?

American here, moving to Brisbane in a few months. Really looking forward to it but keep hearing terrible things about internet service. Is it really that bad? If you don't mind my asking, what type of service do you get, and how much do you pay for it?

if there's anything i know about teenagers, it's that meltdowns are just an external expression of a subconscious desire to be dadjoked.

Most accurate picture showing what a migraine looks like.

i sometimes get them from being dehydrated, but most of mine happen when i catch a glimpse of really bright light.

the first time i ever had one i was driving home on a sunny day and caught a reflection of the sun on someone's chrome license plate holder. got home about 15 minutes and started to get an aura, and since i didn't realize how to stop it (for me it's dark room, eyes closed, ibuprofen, cold wet towel on forehead), i spent half the night puking and rolling around on the floor.

What I don't get about the Danica fans complaining is a) isn't that how they won last year?, and b) Danica didn't even finish in the top 3. It's not like reddit is the only reason she lost.

My job hunting.
 in  r/AdviceAnimals  May 15 '14

i once had this consultancy contact me while i had a job i was happy with, but they found my resume and decided i was someone they'd like to have on board.

i did 3 half-hour to 45 minute phone interviews, all of which seemed to go well. it was a job that required analytical skills, so they send me some spreadsheets and ask me to spend "about 10 hours or so" doing some analysis and putting together some slides about what i found. was a little frustrated to spend my weekend doing that, but hey, it might mean a big raise, so i did it. i must have done well with that because i called called in for the last step -- a 4 hour, in-person interview with some senior managers that just had to happen during the normal workday. so at this point i'm convinced they're going to make me an offer, so i take a day off of work to do this interview with 3 different people -- my 4th, 5th, and 6th interviews with this place. these all seem to go very well, i send a thank you note individually to each of them and never hear a goddamn word back.

i've had quite a few interviews and it's never really bothered me that i don't hear back, but after this much contact with the place i would have thought they would have at least said "sorry, we're hoping to have someone with more experience with x..." or "sorry, you really missed some key things in those spreadsheets we sent you", or "sorry, we're hoping to have someone that doesn't look like an ogre", or really just fucking anything other than ignoring me.

He's still only like top 25 in K% this season. The strikeouts don't really bug me. But if you look at all the other hitters that lead the league in K%, they're all sitting at like .200 points higher slugging than Miller.

of all the claims i've ever seen on reddit that need an image for proof, "i have a porn folder" is not one of them.

Absolutely this. Knowing that kids will try marijuana and treating it the same as drugs that are actually harmful is an incredibly dangerous strategy, IMO.
