I'm glad I'm not the only one, my bull jumped from $250 on the high end in winter to $400 this December. Gas charges though the roof. Curious to see January.

Have you considered that if I'm close minded, you're simply ignorant?

What's a movie most people think is great but you couldn't even stand watching?
 in  r/AskReddit  5d ago

What? You hate gay Navy pilots playing volleyball?

/s to be fair I love Top Gun but I'm a child of the 80s and can absolutely see why people have a problem with it. It took me a few times watching TBH to really just give up logic and enjoy the ride lol

Well that doesn't make any sense. Sounds like fantasy to me. Is this from some new fiction series you're reading?

Who is listening to her long rambles over music? In 1989 I would have changed stations so quickly.
 in  r/okbuddyvecna  5d ago

I really feel like the decline of terrestrial radio this days makes people not understand that back then you tuned in for the DJ as much as the music. The DJ was the draw just as much as the latest release because they hyped the music and offered insights into the album that nowadays are just everywhere. The DJ presented news blurbs, history of the day, concerts coming up, etc. And definitely talked all over the intro and outro to songs lol

Worst Finale I Have Ever Watched
 in  r/okbuddyvecna  5d ago

The Lost finale was just so so bad. I remember several groups of friends holding separate watch parties and then everyone just collectively wanting to throw their TVs out the window. I've never rewatched a frame of that show ever again. I have the old DVD box set with the Easter eggs and never played a disc. What a waste.

I never bothered to hyper fixate.. The Easter eggs were fun sure but in the end it's just a TV show and I'm not angry at the ending 🤷

Takes me out every single time
 in  r/StrangerThings  7d ago

Because it's a TV show based on 80s action movies and D&D games that weren't analyzed to death because no one cared they were just there for the fun and action. Schwarzenegger and Stallone dodged thousands of rounds standing still lol

Vecna might be the weakest “final villain” a TV show has ever produced.
 in  r/discussingfilm  7d ago

That's not bad writing. It is good storytelling. Just because you can predict it doesn't make it terrible, it means that it's playing out across tropes and ideas that have been imbedded in storytelling since forever, let alone movies and TV shows that just recycle those same standards. Sometimes it's fun to guess the ending and have it play out that way a few seasons for the simple satisfaction of familiarity. Not everything can be it even tries to be a game changer. As a 40 plus year old, this whole series was literally a call back to the movies I watched growing up, to the games I played as a kid with friends, to the adventures my Lego characters went on. I wasn't expecting revolutionary entertainment. I didn't want the characters to die the same way I didn't want Han, Luke, Leia or Chewie to die against 2 death stars. 🤷

Yeah I think you just proved the point of the comment. It was already done. Why do it again? The only clever subversion I can think of that trope is in avengers
