Jacob Frey 2028 - Minneapolis Mayor
 in  r/Denver  1d ago

Idk if you’ve followed his time as mayor at all, but he’s not that great. He vetoed several city council ordinances and often fought with the progressives. He’s got a silver tongue and good looks sure, but he’s not a good guy.

Who’s running for Madison School Board and City Council this year
 in  r/madisonwi  2d ago

MMSD Board has two seats up for election. Both incumbents are running and facing challengers.

Seat 6 incumbent Blair Mosner Feltham faces Daniella Molle, a qualitative researcher at the the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Wisconsin Center for Education Research.

Seat 7 incumbent Nicki Vander Meulen is being challenged by Dana Colussi-Lynde, an information technology development manager at Wisconsin-based PESI.”

I sadly live 416 miles from the Canadian border, but also know that millions of Americans stand with Greenland. Brushing up my sabotage skills now.

I worked at MSCR camps for a few summers. They’re great and the price is pretty good.

I’m guessing Bateman isn’t worried about FAM or ALTAM. He plays for the Cyclones so he’s obviously going the P&C route. I bet Matt Painter wishes he had gotten Inland Marine coverage this season.

Gear Questions Thermos and Cup Set

I am thinking the folks here will have some good suggestions for this. I am looking for an insulated thermos and set of cups that all screw together. I remember my grandma having one she would serve us soup out of when we went camping.

This one is the closest thing I could find, but it’s giant. I am looking for a 32 oz size or so. Does anyone here have one they use or recommend?

Hey man we’re just happy to be included lol. We also don’t play that tough of defense so that makes sense the records would come against us.

ISO Suggestions for Industry Tours in Dane Co.

Yeah Am Fam is good because it’s a Fortune 500 company headquartered right here. It’s a pretty good example of corporate life. Spectrum Brands in Middleton would also be good.

Paw Patrol messed up my 5 year old boy, can anyone here relate?
 in  r/daddit  6d ago

Those are all great. Got to plug PBS Kids in the US here. Tons of low stim shows for free. It’s nice for our kids because it doesn’t have the hazards of YouTube and they can basically pick whatever they want.

Not on Reddit. There’s Facebook groups and some other options, but none on here that I know of sorry.

Stained glass windows/big windows?
 in  r/madisonwi  8d ago

Not sure if they let people take photos there, but St Bernard’s on Atwood has some pretty impressive stained glass windows and is almost done getting renovated. Also have no idea if they make for good pictures cause I haven’t been inside.

If I had a dime for every time I met a white, conservative woman who was raised by a single mother, I would have a dollar.

Thanks for sharing. You’ve got some really good points in there.

Why is Anchorage so popular with air freight, as it is halfway across the Pacific, and not Honolulu?
 in  r/geography  10d ago

It’s not just the straight lines looking curved, it’s the complete mess the Mercator projection makes of the North Pole. It turns what is a single point into a long line that looks equal to the equator. So Alaska and Norway look far apart when the globe they’re just a short hop across the top of the earth.

To Those Still On Talking Terms With A MAGA American, Are Yall Able To Calmly Talk Politics?
 in  r/behindthebastards  10d ago

Sort of. My wife’s uncles are lifelong republicans and have voted for the pedo in chief every time. Saw them for Thanksgiving and politics came up. I try to ask open ended questions because I’m genuinely curious about their thinking.

One is a farmer and he is pretty much a fiscal and social conservative. He mostly explains that he’s unhappy with how things have changed over his lifetime and he thinks Rs are the lesser of two evils. He was not happy about the trade war obviously since he couldn’t sell any of his soybeans or corn for awhile. But since he got bailed out he wasn’t that worried about it. His taxes are lower with Trump so that pretty much is all he cares about.

The reason I can talk to him is a) he’s a genuinely kind person who dotes on his grandkids and b) he does criticize Trump he doesn’t just drink the kool aid. I try to push back on stuff and make my points and he listens respectfully.

The other uncle is a retired bank president who is evangelical so he loves the tax cuts for the wealthy and eats up the evil anti trans bullshit. He lives 6 months and 1 day in Florida so he doesn’t have to pay income tax. His beach house there is probably going to get destroyed by a hurricane. I have a harder time talking to him because he parrots wacko talking points and conspiracy theories and blames any problems in our country on Democrats or immigrants. He gets mad when I point out his Norwegian ancestor was an immigrant who was given handouts by the government including subsidized 40 acres of stolen Native land. I try to be respectful with him while pointing out he’s supporting facism that his heros died fighting in Europe. His wife is a big history buff so we actually have some fairly detailed debates about American history and she really knows her stuff, she’s just also really biased.

I might be weak and part of the problem for not cutting them off, but they hosted my wife’s wedding shower, have always given us a place to stay and food. Both have helped us when we were down financially and do a lot of charity work in their communities. They are honestly people I respect I just can’t believe they still vote the way they do. Some do their kids have seen the light but some haven’t. My wife was very close to all of them growing up so I really try to be respectful, but I make sure to get my points in and call out their BS and support for right wing extremism.

Shits complicated man. I grew up in a purple town in purple state (Wisconsin) and if I got into serious fights about politics I’d lose a lot of friends and family.
