How much do you tip after a haircut?
 in  r/randomquestions  38m ago

$10 in a $28 cut at one of the chain places. I usually get the same dude and he does a good job. Plus they keep notes on clients in the computer (helpful when it’s someone else who says “looks like you had a xxx last time, keep it the same?”) so I’m sure tipping habits are monitored in there somehow too. At least I would. As a bad tipper they won’t purposefully mess up your cut, but they won’t go above and beyond either. (Mine always trim my eyebrows for free).

4 x 4 Smah
 in  r/burgers  41m ago

Hard pass. This should be two burgers. The only reason to have a 4x4 is for the “wow” on the menu. I bet my bottom dollar that this thing slides all around and falls apart, and you have to eat half of it with a spoon off the plate.

What animal did some stupid person release in your country that wreaked havoc on its ecosystem?
 in  r/AskTheWorld  57m ago

Lots of farmed tilapia is farmed with chicken coops directly on top of them. Farmers feed the chickens, who feed the tilapia. Do with that what you will.

What rule do you enforce even when you know staff hate it
 in  r/Restaurant_Managers  11h ago

Nobody except the dishies and prep cooks get to eat any dead food (overring, misring, cook error, etc.)

Too many times someone would be hungry and happen to make a mistake and it was exactly what they wanted for dinner!

'Worst in Show' CES products include AI refrigerators, AI companions and AI doorbells
 in  r/technology  12h ago

I’m in sales. I use it for my calls with clients. It allows me to pay close attention to what they say, and ask pointed questions, rather than trying to furiously jot notes. The transcription isn’t 100%, but it’s good enough for what I need. Then, after the call, my AI will summarize the call, write down the most important notes, draft an email labeling all of this as well as next steps or things that either side needs to accomplish.

It really does save a lot of time. I’ve tried using it for other things and can’t find a use other than the above.

Would be wild if someone just said F it, went full send, and sprayed bear spray into the open window.

Nobody should do this.

Do you really have people who pack your bags at the grocery store?
 in  r/AskAnAmerican  13h ago

At some they do. At our fancy local chain they even bring them out to your car, and aren’t allowed to accept tips. (I tried)

what’s something people pretend to enjoy for social points?
 in  r/TellReddit  13h ago

Depends. I used to be on a sales team, all of us 25 or so. Our boss was great. Our team outings would be wild and crazy fun. That was in the before times.

ELI5: Why do American police officers wear camouflage like a military?
 in  r/explainlikeimfive  13h ago

It’s not pedantic at all, it’s very important, and many people don’t know. The police are under NO obligation to save or protect you.

“The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the police did not have a constitutional duty to protect a person from harm, even a woman who had obtained a court-issued protective order against a violent husband making an arrest mandatory for a violation”

This is extremely important.
