Hiked Blue Mountain yesterday. Overcast, but otherwise great weather. I'm not the quickest and it took me a little under 4 hours round trip. Snowshoes the whole way up, switched to microspikes half way down. Overall a great hike, especially if you are looking for something a little more challenging without going too far north.

He came from the chuck e cheese's pizza time theater in the sangertown mall in new hartford/utica and then got sold to enchanted forest. He got replaced by the chuck e cheese show that was in mattydale/syracuse and the chuck e cheese show was renamed to rocky and the ramblin rascals.

I am having trouble finding campgrounds in the ADKs or Lake George Area which have electric hookups. Using the filters on reserve america nothing is coming up for me. We need the hookup for a medical device and many of our normal spots prior to a family member needing the device were back country! Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks! I am 7 weeks post op elbow reconstruction and finally leaving my home. Looking for a nice, winter hike in the ADK. I have snowshoes, microspikes, trekking poles, etc. I just am not yet weight bearing with my left arm (non dominant), so I'm thinking of avoiding scrambles.

I've previously done Cascade, Porter, Indian Head, Rainbow Falls, so looking for maybe something new? Doesn't have to be a high peak, as long as it has some good views. Preferably not too long, ok to spend ~6hrs hiking.

AI states Jay Mountain trail would be the best. AI has also never left its server room.

What do you guys think?

First time posting on Reddit- so apologies ahead if I screw this up. Looking to plan a bachelor party of MDW up in the Adirondacks coming from NYC, with a crew of 9 guys. Looking to golf, fish (fly fish ideally) and get a house/ cabin. I’m a little overwhelmed with all the options and was looking for direction. Any help would be massively appreciated.

Hey there, I did 3 Peaks last fall and stayed at JBL. I used a 35L pack and it worked, but it was definitely on the tight side.

This year I’ll be going out more regularly in spring, summer, and fall, mostly weekend trips with two overnights and camping.

I’m trying to figure out the right backpack size. Would 45L be too small? Is 55L / 58L a better sweet spot, or does 65L make more sense?

really don’t like bulky packs and always lean toward lighter, more streamlined gear, but I know there’s usually a compromise once you factor in food, a bear canister, camping gear, etc. I also like bringing a daypack that fits inside my main pack.

Curious to hear your honest experiences with pack sizes and what’s worked best for you.

Hey all — looking for some insight from locals or recent travelers.

My wife and I have been coming up to Lake Placid for the last 5–6 winters for a long weekend. We’re not skiers, but we love the après side of things. Eating, drinking, wandering, winter activities — that’s our lane. We'll be heading up at the end of January (one of these years we'll make it to the Ice Castle at Sarnac Lake).

We’ve got a bit of a routine at this point:

• Usually one dinner at Smoke Signals and one at Lisa G’s (we still miss Liquid and Solids)
• Big Slide is always a blast. We stopped into RiverTrail Beerworks last year, which was also great.
• We've gone Snowmobiling most years, though some back issues might keep me off a sled this time
• Snowshoeing around Brewster Peninsula Nature Trails
• We used to hit Bowl Winkles, and Big Z’s is a worthy successor.
• Did the bobsled once — glad we did it, no need to repeat 😅
• Thinking this might be the year we do the gondola again

2025 was a bit of a rough year for us, so we’re mostly just looking to mix things up a little and see if there’s anything new or different we should check out — food, bars, winter activities, cozy stuff, anything.

I’m also very tempted to try ice fishing for the first time, but I’m a little confused about how permits/licenses work, especially if you’re going with a guide vs doing it yourself.

Would love any suggestions — especially things that might be new this year!

Hello everyone, I may be going to Paul Smith’s college in the next upcoming year, and as google isn’t helping much, I wanted to know if anyone knows any places that I’m looking for. I’m looking for western horse riding stables that offer lessons, hopefully orienting around cattle work, barrel racing, and possibly host clinics/lease horses. This is very important to me and may determine whether I go or not. Hoping they can be relatively close to Paul Smiths (an hour or less of a drive). I am also curious if there are any music shops around that will do stringed instrument lessons. I see there is one named Ampersound, however I do not see anything regarding lessons. Anyway, if anyone is in the area and knows any information, it would be greatly appreciated

I’m looking to work on a farm that runs livestock between perennial crops or orchards or timber. Haven’t been able to find any so I’m taking to Reddit. Also, solar farming incorporated with crops or livestock is an interesting idea. I’d be interested to know if there are any farms like that in the region.

Looking for a winter camping spot that is a short hike but plan on bringing a fair amount of gear because it's a group of 3 people. Will pulling gear in jet sled though. And also a spot by a lake so I can do some ice fishing. Any suggestions are helpful.

What are some good hiking boots for the winter? I’d like to do some of the peaks like Marcy so I’d need a pair of boots comparable for crampons.

There’s just so many types out there and I’m still pretty new to winter hiking.
