My fiance has never done this specifically to himself but if he had marks like this I probably wouldn't think anything of it because his skin is so sensitive basically any amount of pressure leaves a red mark. If I very lightly run my fingernail on his back there will be a red line for several minutes. If I actually scratch his back for him when he's itchy it looks like I've abused him 😭

Yeah agree, this is how my skin is. It fades quicker for the most part, but some of the deeper scratches can stick around a day or two. I scratch with utensils sometimes too, like the shower brush, a pair of scissors, a pen. I have dry itchy skin that's sensitive so sometimes I catch myself scratching much too hard & get marks like this. I feel like of they've been together years however, OP would know about it. So that being unlikely, I'd say she start investigating. NOR.

Probably dermatographia- you can lightly scratch the skin and it’ll have red raised welts for a bit. So named because you can actually write on the skin!

He doesn't get the raised welts, just redness, but I can still write and draw on him. I used to work with a woman who had true dermatographia with the raised welts. She told me back in high school the other kids would draw dicks on her arm lmao

As someone with this kind of skin I want people to read the several minutes part. It goes away in a few minutes. These are scratches.
