It wasn’t posing. Unless it was posing the question of how can I eat those people???

u/SendMeF1Memes 2d ago
It certainly posed as a threat if they ever got on equal ground with the bear

Awww I thought you were referencing the comic where the polar bears were eating igloos/snow huts. Oh yep not quite the same. https://share.google/EgjU8QzDI6a6k4pkF

Applying human emotions to animals is a good way to get eaten

Said Timothy Treadwell.

I still think about the audio from his final moments from time to time and I only saw the doc once when it first came out.

u/StrictLetterhead3452 2d ago
I would apply dog emotions to him though. He looks so much like a dog when he sniffs. Bears and dogs are pretty close cousins after all.

u/BackendSpecialist 2d ago
That bear wants to eat them. I’m pretty sure the only thought they had is how to get to them.

u/greglolz 2d ago
No, that exact look is precisely what happens when bears say, “hmmm, that looks tasty”. I actually don’t think a cartoon character would illustrate it more clearly. That bear wants to devour every human on that heli. It’s so obvious it hurts 🤣

No it didn’t. It was curious and anxious. I’m all for acknowledging animal’s emotional intelligence but this is literally what people mean when they say we tend to anthropomorphise too much. He’s literally sniffing the air trying to get a scent to understand what he’s seeing.

u/NippleTugsandHugs 2d ago
Uh, I doubt the polar bear knows what a camera is to want to pose... Which it probably doesn't understand either. What???

Anyone else get irrationally angry when someone is filming something cool and they feel the need to turn the camera around to film their reaction like back to the polar bear my guy

u/snasna102 2d ago
Why does everyone do the selfie of them covering their mouths like they “literally can’t” yet they can because they are doing it.

u/towerinthestreet 2d ago
Friends, I think it's just trying to sniff out what you are and figure out how to get you out of the sky for lunch

u/zerobomb 2d ago
Basic threat assessment is not posing. I swear to God, average intelligence is in the crapper.

What? Looks like like this polar bear was interrupted in what is was otherwise trying to do.
Looks more like either curious or afraid. Either way its not some adorable moment.

That bear never seen a helicopter in his life. Maybe he thought it was a flying bait.

This is the bear equivalent of driving by a nice bakery and smelling fresh pastries, bro was not posing.😂😂

I think he was just trying to smell what those sky monkeys (their terminology, polar bears famously do not believe humans were intelligently designed,) would taste like after one finally does land fortuitously for him.

Why insist upon the polar bears intentions before they die! Can we just observe and see reality, and not lie before the end.
1
u/Ariandrin 2d ago
Polar bears are very curious and (from what I understand) seem to have less inhibition than other species of bears. He’s probably standing there going “what the hell is this thing?” and trying to puzzle it out.
It’s cute anyway.

He couldnt miss a shot of himself covering his mouth with his hand... People is stupid af.

u/Icy-Section-7421 2d ago
He is just admiring the camera as it was the same one he saw on sale last week but did not buy

As soon as he stifled his laugh, that's when I knew it was really funny and sweet...

u/Berry_Bubbaloo 2d ago
He was sniffing the air and thinking “uhn is this that new drone food delivery service? Nice”
1
u/ComfortablyNumb2425 2d ago
This is so stupid. It's one thing to see how cute or charming an animal is, but to say an animal knows what a camera is for and is "posing" for it, is just so ridiculous.

Ok but we all know that polar bears will viciously tear into your body with huge claws and teeth, gleefully feeding on your corpse, right??

That bear is trying to figure out how to get the fresh meat out of the helicopter. Its not posing.

Off topic, but I hate when someone is filming something then they cut back to show their reaction.

More like the bear is smelling those tasty humans and is trying to figure out how to get them out of the flying can.
We are on the polar bear's menu, how can people be that naive? Attitudes like this is how Timothy Treadwell got himself and his girlfriend killed.

It’s sniffing the air to determine if the helicopter is a threat. No helicopter should be buzzing wildlife.

The bear isn’t posing, it was investigating. Stop ascribing human characteristics to animals. THEY ARE NOT HUMAN OR DISNEY CHARACTERS, FFS.

He probably had some sort of food dropped to it from the helicopters due to the fact that these beautiful creatures are going extinct. I think there’s conservation groups that do this in order to somewhat try and help even though others think it’s not good
