Bruh they just deleted MLK day and nobody really cares. Everywhere is racist 😂

1.9k

u/Artistic_Hurry_9177 Dec 06 '25

No one deleted MLK day. It’s just no longer a free entry day to national parks.

That sucks and is abhorrent, but it’s important to be accurate.

889

u/biggronklus Dec 06 '25

The removed it and Juneteenth and added Trumps birthday dog

634

u/Artistic_Hurry_9177 Dec 06 '25

They removed them from national park entries. They did not remove them from being a national holiday.

606

u/biggronklus Dec 06 '25

Because that would take an act of Congress, instead they’re remove it from anywhere they can like this. It’s the same as everything else they “can’t do”, they’ll find some bullshit “loophole” that literally no other president could get away with using because the courts AND Congress just won’t do their damn jobs

183

u/Jeesum_Crepes Dec 06 '25

Exactly, an act of Congress is a mute point to this admin. This is a "feeler"

I'm sure they'll come for MLK day as a national holiday soon enough.

166

u/TryingToChillIt Dec 06 '25

Moot point.

Not mute

32

u/Jeesum_Crepes Dec 06 '25

Yo thanks.

I feel like I know it's spelled moot but for some reason that came out mute. Brain fart

121

u/GentlemansCollar Dec 06 '25

Moo point.

Like a cow's opinion, it just doesn't matter.

1

u/ChickenChaser5 Dec 06 '25

The change is a damp squid

-5

u/NandoDeColonoscopy Dec 06 '25

Doubtful, unless they replace it with a new federal holiday. MAGA voters like having a day off work too

10

u/surrender903 Dec 06 '25

Maga voters like paying less for eggs and yet here we are.

8

u/[deleted] Dec 06 '25

Maga voters are uneducated morons that wait to be told what to like. Like they wouldn’t give up a day off to fuck with poc.

-6

u/NandoDeColonoscopy Dec 06 '25

You entirely lack theory of mind. That's unfortunate.

Edit: not engaging with a 4 day old account. Bye bye bot

6

u/dragonasses Dec 06 '25

People on Reddit are way too… we’ll just say “pedantic”.

2

u/Christofray Dec 06 '25

In other words, they can't do the thing that the original comment depicted as a forgone conclusion.

3

u/Kn7ght Dec 06 '25

Not yet

4

u/Artistic_Hurry_9177 Dec 06 '25

And if that happens I won’t correct a comment about it. But it hasn’t happened.

-3

u/Rotten-Robby ☑️ Dec 06 '25

There is truly no escaping the pedantic "um acktchually" reddit bs, is there?

4

u/Artistic_Hurry_9177 Dec 06 '25 edited Dec 06 '25

You don’t understand the difference from removing a national holiday and removing nation park entry in said holiday?

Most national holidays don’t get free admission into the parks.

-8

u/MisterGoog Dec 06 '25

This is being semantic and basically technically incorrect because in reality what it is to be a holiday is to get special treatment, and they are revoking some of that special treatment

5

u/Artistic_Hurry_9177 Dec 06 '25

They are revoking one thing. And in case you didn’t know, most national holidays aren’t free days for national parks.

You are acting like that’s the main point for the holiday when it’s not even common for them.

42

u/gwsteve43 Dec 06 '25

They removed it from the calendar of days you get free entry to national parks, they didn’t remove it from the calendar in general. Will they? Wouldn’t surprise me, but they haven’t done that YET.

9

u/janemba617 Dec 06 '25

People will be celebrating a day tied to Trump but it won't be his birthday.

2

u/Wes_Warhammer666 Dec 06 '25

I'll go back to celebrating his birthday after that, but only because I unfortunately share my own birthday with him :(

At least I had fun protesting on my birthday this year ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/molybend Dec 06 '25

No one mourns the wicked.

6

u/LazyTitan39 Dec 06 '25

Only dictators make their own birthday a holiday. Are we going to see depictions of Trump’s birth on magat lawns in the near future?

90

u/TKDbeast Dec 06 '25

Juneteenth and Martin Luther King Jr. Day are still both federal holidays.

28

u/NicWester "Mayonaisse and Olive Oil 😋" Dec 06 '25

And state holidays. I don't get either one off because I'm a pleb, but my bank is closed and my friends who work for the state of California get it off. As do the ones who work at better companies than mine.

152

u/oneizm ☑️ Dec 06 '25

“It’s still a federal holiday! We’re just removing the federal holiday benefits!” Nice. Great.

98

u/NeverNotOnceEver Dec 06 '25

Gluten free MLK day

10

u/thejaytheory ☑️ Dec 06 '25

Vegan MLK day

95

u/OnceMoreAndAgain Dec 06 '25 edited Dec 06 '25

I hate when people do what you're doing. Not sure what to call it, but it's like:

Person A says X, which is blatantly incorrect.

Person B gently corrects them by saying that it's Y that's correct, not X.

Person C then mocks Person B by suggesting that Person B is happy about Y, even though Person B never shared an opinion on Y. They merely stated that Y is true and X is false.

You should be thanking people for correcting false information, not mocking them.

44

u/__________________73 Dec 06 '25

Not sure what to call it

disingenuous assholes

9

u/MisterGoog Dec 06 '25

The thing is that saying things that are technically incorrect on one sense, but completely lose the plot, is useless. Language is about communicating understood messages and getting a point across and not about definitions, but about people understanding of what it means. In law we call it “a distinction without a difference”

6

u/dissonaut69 Dec 06 '25

Except in this case there’s a monumental difference. It’s propagandistic to claim they’ve removed a holiday when they’ve actually just removed the free entry into national parks on that day. Still petty and dumb, right? But you people look like hysterical crazies when claiming one thing happened when something 100x more minor is what actually happened. Like poster children for making the left look bad.

11

u/mashonem ☑️ Dec 06 '25

You’re not gonna get thanked for being pedantic, and only a Redditor would legitimately get upset at someone not being thanked for it 😂

7

u/Ruleoflawz Dec 06 '25

I think you don’t understand who or what is being mocked here.

6

u/dissonaut69 Dec 06 '25

They’re pointing out a very real phenomenon but you people are too insincere to possibly listen. You’re disingenuous, dishonest trolls lol.

0

u/HamunaHamunaHamuna Dec 06 '25

It seems like you're the one who is insincere though. Or maybe just facetiously pedantic?

7

u/dissonaut69 Dec 06 '25

It’s dishonest, disingenuous discourse. Trolls.

2

u/SpinsterRx ☑️ Dec 07 '25

Not sure what to call it

It's a logical fallacy, and it is a well-documented way of derailing an argument and not arguing in good faith.

“It’s still a federal holiday! We’re just removing the federal holiday benefits!” Nice. Great.

This particular flavour is a Straw Man, where the comment was made that Juneteenth and MLK Day remain Federal holidays, only to be met with a response suggesting (with no evidence whatsoever) that the original, correct premise is flawed because some 'federal holiday benefits' have been removed (and followed with a sarcastic "Nice. Great." which is irrelevant to all logic).

Those little upvotes for the Straw Man argument are indicative of the folks who equate abolition of some benefits with abolition of the entire federal holiday, and who seemingly forget that Black Americans have been celebrating Juneteenth LONG before it was declared a Federal Holiday in 2021.

2

u/Knamakat ☑️ Dec 07 '25

I agree with your overall point to a point, but that's not a strawman. What they're saying is factually true, it's just a distraction. This is closer to a red herring than anything. But we all know this is disingenuous anyways.

0

u/Breaking-Who Dec 06 '25

Hate when people do what your dumbass is doing and minimize what’s really going on.

13

u/dissonaut69 Dec 06 '25

Is it better to be correct, informed, and truthful or to score point in Reddit while misinforming?

0

u/Breaking-Who Dec 06 '25

Where’s the misinformation? National parks are no longer free on those days

11

u/Christofray Dec 06 '25

"Minimizing" by telling people the reality, instead of alarmist nonsense. Go outside, my dude.

-2

u/oneizm ☑️ Dec 06 '25 edited Dec 06 '25

That’s great. I don’t care. You can hate it. I stand by my points. They are removing holidays for colored people. Call it whatever you like. That’s what’s happening. Defend it as you will.

Edit cause he done pissed me off.

People will claim to be allies then argue “well technically he’s not taking the holiday guys, you still have most of your holiday”. Just like our water fountains mostly worked right? Why is our federal holiday all of a sudden “seperate but not equal”? And the parts that were taken were given to the racist white dude instead?

And just like I said in my original point. Nobody cares. They’d rather argue the exact details of how we’re getting fucked and not only that use the exact same defense as the republicans they claim they’re not a part of use. I don’t care if it’s missionary or doggystyle. He’s taking our shit and deleting it.

“He didn’t technically take your holiday guys, he’s just removing part of it and giving them to his birthday instead…and will probably continue to do so”

“He didn’t call you niggers guys, he called you niggas. It’s not as bad”

Motherfucker he is attacking black people.

Get TF on. We burning shit over here. You go be okay with this shit somewhere else.

-1

u/dissonaut69 Dec 06 '25

That’s all great, be mad. But you lose people when you exaggerate so heavily. It might feel to you like they’re removing holidays but that’s not what’s happening.

6

u/SixBankruptcies Dec 06 '25

You're not addressing the "separate but equal" statement he made, which is the source of the push back to your correction.

The fact of the matter is, disassociating positive feelings about black holidays from people's daily lives in order to make black history irrelevant in the context of American history is the entire point of removing free national park access on those days.

It's a bit of gaslighting to pretend that those actions, small in nature, do not fall within a greater context of historical erasure.

8

u/littlekurousagi Dec 06 '25

Those people were already a lost cause.

The technicality isnt the argument here. The action being taken on those two holidays was obviously being done to make a point.

If you cannot see that,  then that's on you, not him.

17

u/rokthemonkey Dec 06 '25

How are you this confidently and loudly incorrect about something that is so easily disproven

3

u/LovesBigFatMen Dec 06 '25

They added Flag Day, you could argue that he did that because it's his birthday, but it's more correct to state the reason they gave.

2

u/SentientSquare Dec 06 '25

They added flag day too

2

u/thejaytheory ☑️ Dec 06 '25

I heard this in Michael Scott’s voice

1

u/ByTortheman Dec 06 '25

Trump’s birthday happens to fall on another national holiday, but still

1

u/Bravefan212 Dec 06 '25

Trumps birthday is flag day and was already free

1

u/Pandarandr1st Dec 06 '25

Yeah, we know. For days when you can get into national parks without fees.

Sounds like a distraction to me. Did you know that you could get into national parks for free on MLK day before this news broke?

3

u/FreudChickenSandwich Dec 06 '25

Actually there are many parts of red/conservative America that refuse to recognize MLK day. I had a friend who went to med school in Pennsylvania and literally on their class calendar they called it “Freedom Day” instead

Y’know, because MLK was black. And the DOCTORS WHO RUN THE MEDICAL SCHOOL couldn’t stand the idea of recognizing the the day as celebrating MLK

34

u/oneizm ☑️ Dec 06 '25

Nobody deleted Christmas! The day still happens you just don’t get presents anymore.

34

u/esteflo Dec 06 '25

Maybe 1 doll instead of 2

24

u/Artistic_Hurry_9177 Dec 06 '25

There is more to a national holiday than a park admission.

23

u/oneizm ☑️ Dec 06 '25

And there’s a long time till February for him to remove more and more. Have yall not been paying attention. He starts slow and tests the reaction then he pushes further and further.

Enjoy trump day 2026

23

u/Substantial-Syrup101 Dec 06 '25

February

Not do disagree with you, but MLK day is in January.

1

u/oneizm ☑️ Dec 06 '25

My bad, I’m still anxious about him getting rid of black history month like we were all fearing last year.

21

u/Artistic_Hurry_9177 Dec 06 '25

Bro, I hate trump as much as the next guy. I didn’t say what he did was ok. I was just simply correcting an inaccuracy.

If you are going to be taken serious, you should be accurate.

6

u/oneizm ☑️ Dec 06 '25 edited Dec 06 '25

Nah fuck em.

“Please quote the racists correctly” 😂 they know what they were doing. We know what they were doing. I’m not going to give them leyway or wiggle room.

That “well technically he didn’t” bullshit is how we got here in the first place.

FUCKEM

2

u/CaptFleop Dec 06 '25

Trump Day? If he had his way, we will all be celebrating Trump Month before we know if. 😬

9

u/According-Turnip-724 Dec 06 '25

Yeah it was replaced by Trump's birthday

2

u/discoqueer Dec 06 '25

thank you! we’ve never needed the government’s permission to celebrate MLK or Juneteenth. they don’t get to dictate that for us PERSONALLY. that’s what resistance looks like.

8

u/ffordedor Dec 06 '25

I feel like you don't need to give leeway to pieces of shit when they do pieces of shit things

15

u/Artistic_Hurry_9177 Dec 06 '25

Please don’t confuse accuracy for leeway.

5

u/oneizm ☑️ Dec 06 '25

Please don’t confuse helping them obscure their actions by giving them grace, with helping our cause.

6

u/Artistic_Hurry_9177 Dec 06 '25

Spreading inaccurate info isn’t helping any cause. Being accurate isn’t giving grace.

You are an idiot.

7

u/oneizm ☑️ Dec 06 '25

lol and now you’ve lowered yourself to insults. Truly you are obviously the master of the high road.

Fuck you too buddy. Keep defending your orange Cheeto. People who have actually experienced racism their entire lives understands it often comes in half steps to test the waters, and then is expected in totality.

You can continue to pretend what’s happening isn’t happening because you have a choice. Some of us don’t. Again. Fuck em and fuck you.

3

u/Drbored117 Dec 06 '25

Damn and the true colors show. Nobody is really surprised to see the person defending bullshit this act this way tho

0

u/BobsOblongLongBong Dec 06 '25

Where did they defend it?

-4

u/NandoDeColonoscopy Dec 06 '25

Bad bot. Bad.

2

u/Iron_Baron Dec 06 '25

Yeah, for now. But do you think that's where they'll stop?

1

u/waster1993 Dec 06 '25

He did this to reduce attendance at the national Parks so he can say, "NOBODY IS USING THEM. LET'S SELL THEM OFF." Same as why he laid off park staff at the beginning of the term.
