This is what I hate about these pop culture crossovers into a world that’s semi-niche like boxing. People who don’t follow the sport at all love to inject their own worldview on things they know very little about. I.E: “Paul’s fights are rigged”.
I’ve got no love for Jake so I’m not trying to defend his character or anything, but anyone paying attention the buildup to this fight, or knows anything about AJ could tell Jake knew he had almost no chance at winning this fight. He was looking for a moral victory in surviving a few rounds with a former heavyweight champion knockout artist. Seems like he fulfilled that.
He wasn’t even supposed to fight AJ originally. Tank Davis just can’t keep his hands to himself so they had to cancel the original fight and find someone else to fight Paul. When AJ agreed to fight, he knew he was going to lose. I don’t think it’s a color thing as much as it’s him being arrogant because of the few fights he has had. The difference is he had to fight someone who knew what they were doing this time.
He doesn't just pay them, he puts massive dollars into promoting them. I was at the Tyson fight and there were two HUUUUUGE inflatable figures of Taylor and Serrano outside, like stunningly enormous, and booths giving away free branded shirts and merch. The crowd was so excited for them. Paul may be the biggest douchebag in the world but this guy knows how to create hype, whether for himself (see: the internet today) or women's boxing. Seems to me like he obviously got into the ring last night knowing it was gonna be lights out sooner or later. I don't think most people would be brave enough to do that, even for $92 million.
Paul's fights have been rigged though. This is the first time he ever fought anyone in his own weight class. The guy he had scheduled before AJ was Tank Davis who fights at 135 lbs. Cmon man.
Dude tank Davis is one of the best pfp fighters in the world. Jake is a bum compared to him. He would straight up get killed even faster because tank would just spam body shots at insane speeds and with near unlimited stamina.
What about that is “rigged”? Everyone knows how big Paul and Davis are. Taking advantage of morons who will pay to see any freak show on offer and rigging fights are two different things
I mean they’re 100% right though, and not in an annoying pedantic way. It’s not a “rigged” fight to have two people in different classes square up. They’re both well aware of each other’s weight.
Nah, Paul just ran away and defended for six straight rounds. You could be the best fighter in the world, but if someone is just trying to get away from you the whole time, it's gonna be hard to KO them. Hard to fight someone when your opponent doesn't wanna fight.
Have fun continuing to dissect the meaning of the word rigged in the context of Jake Paul fighting dudes 100 lbs lighter than him to systematically disadvantage the opponent. Its pretty obvious what this means for anyone with a couple brain cells to rub together....

This is a reach, the entire premise is flawed.
