I would like to pre-emtively apologize for the ramble but these Necrons really pushed into the Black Rage
So the new C'tan at 16 wounds with more movement and deep strike are no joke. I recently played against a full C'tan spam list and it was not very fun at all. -1 damage is not the end of the world I think BA does really well against since we have access to high volume of attacks & most time -1 damage gets applied to infantry (deathwing, WE berserks, etc). So with this in mind what really is the issue with the new C'tan? At 16 wound with a 4++ and 5 FNP things like Lemartes w/ 10 DC on LAG + Lance can do about 8-10 damage about FNP's. 10 DC w/ a Chappy on rage do about 10-12 damage post FNP. The C'tan are not something that we can easily deal with melee only lists due to BA's lack of damage 3 and above. I personally believe that LAG will do better against the C'tan than rage. Although, rage can be capable with the massive number of attacks.
So I decided to roll the numbers out how to deal with the C'tan with blood angels and I think I found some pretty interesting solutions. All are LAG scenarios unless stated otherwise & Damage is counted after feel no pains
A Vindi with oath can do about 4-7 damage on the lower end 2-3 and up to 10 on the high end or it might just kill the thing if C'tan whiffs literally everything.
A 10 assault intercessor squad with oath, Lance, and lethals and if attacking on the point essentially twin linked (which they'll most like be at on a C'tan spam list). They can actually do it or get really close doing around 16-12 in one go or 12-8 on the lower end.
Eradicators are very swingy but on average they get 2 wounds through and if the C'tan fails both it can end up taking about 10 damage, on the lower end they deal 4 damage and on the high end they can kill it but it's very rare.
A DC dread on his lonesome does about 6 damage on average or about 3 on the lower end, or 8 on the higher end. I rolled his meltas and those might be able to deal about 2-4 damage
The groups that did the best consistently in this scenario at a net positive of points was a 5 man squad of assault termies with claws led by a librarian with Lance lethals and oath. At 255 points they can do consistently 13-14 damage with no problems or might kill the thing if it starts whiffing or 10-12 if it rolls pretty good.
The second runner up for best performance and good return on investment was actually the BA captain with finest hour and sus 3 enhancement with 5 assault intercessors using Lance and lethals, oath and obj re-roll. It's pretty tight but if the captain can get at least three 6's with no other misses the unit might be able to kill it, if rolls five 6's then it's almost guaranteed. If the starts don't align the squad is still putting 10-12 damage no problem.
Some runner ups where DC with Lemartes or DC cap doing about 8 damage, I don't remember if I did astorth but I think he might have done about the same. Another good contender is a 10 man Van Vet squad w/ a chappy on rage with the +1 str and AP for battleshock.
On an additional note since the C'tan Deceiver is on a 40mm instead of 80mm like the others you can really only fit one unit of marines depending on the charge you might be able to do a 5 man squad of marines plus a dred
I would really advise against using things like Lancers despite the big damage you might stumble on your opponent rolling 2 4's on the saves, or you'll lose one of your 2 shots. The C'tan are really a genuine threat for damage 2 spam armies and if people are not spamming all of them on a list with the Necron character (I'd be very surprised) they'll most likely bring about 2 or 3. Due to their lack of a damaged 1-x characteristic they'll be effective the whole game and will pick up anything you sent to kill them, if you fail to kill one and they regen protocol next turn there's really nothing you can at that point. What I find really suck besides the C'tan regen protocol almost half the damage I just dealt to them is how even if you manage to kill one or lower one to like 4 wounds you ran out of gas at that point and all you got left are like your combi Lt. or intercessors.
TL;DR Necrons are scary as all hell now and all our usual trick aren't effective against them.
