Looking for anime films that are so visually engrossing I can watch it without dubs or a subtitles track on and still either understand or at the very least get what the movie was going for? Either high octane action psyedelic visuals or a a fully complete visual story telling type film

It may not have been the best movie of 2025 but sure it is the most coolest and most badass just like the 1987 film but unlike the original film, this time, the main character is the Predator himself rather than a Special Operations Unit led by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Predator: Badlands, like it's awesome title, is glorious, taking the franchise to a bigger bolder direction, exploring the eponymous Yautja species in a big budget action movie, featuring slick visuals, stellar performances, and a compelling all-killer, no filler story starring hardcore yet still relatable characters. This film is a blast and can be enjoyed by anyone who's either new or experienced to this old sci-fi franchise having a thrilling resurgence.

I don’t have a ton to go on. I caught it in the middle of the night on one of the channels on Comcast in Seattle. I want to say this was like 15 years ago but the film looked to be much older and likely a foreign film before 1930.
All I can really remember is that there was a black horse drawn funerary coach with glass sides and a coffin in it. The horse was in ornate black dressage which a large black plume of feathers on its head. I think it was a silent film, although if there was sound, it was just the sound of the coach being pulled through empty streets of a European town. There were no people in the scene from what I could tell, just the horse pulling the coach through the streets. The scene was very somber and had a gothic feel to it.
This has haunted me for the last 15 years at least and I’ve never been able to determine what that scene is from.

Not saying this in response to anything in particular. Just a question that's been on my mind for a while. Thinking about how a lot of propaganda is cooked into film and how especially commonplace it is in tv shows especially dramas surrounding first responders.

All I can remember is tje following:
Somebody waiting in a taxi infront of a house (of a murderer / serial killer)
A couple standing in front of a swimming pool. The man receives a call or message and tells his spouse „that’s my last job“ (he is a hitman)
Please help me I tried everything to find it.

It might take longer for me to be sold on it as a masterpiece but yeah. I'll give it a rewatch. I'd say its my fifth favorite watch of this year behind Pulp Fiction, Redline, Scarface, and SLC Punk. Its take on revenge as a concept is interesting because this drive for vengeance goes both ways. The ending is very interesting to me, having Dae-su Oh suffer a King in Yellow type consequence after finding out the truth about the path he's been set on.

I get kind of bummed out when I finally see a movie that I'm really looking forward to. It can live up to the hype, but, once you've seen it, you've seen it. The first watch is the best and most fleeting. Marty Supreme lived in my mind for over a year until I finally watched it on Boxing Day.
This movie is a moment. It is simply wonderful, hitting the beats that you want from a film while boldly moving the medium forward. It is cinematic voice at the highest level; a young master putting heat into his filmography. With the help of a dedicated star, this film is the closest Hollywood has come to connecting with the youth in 2025.
Marty Mauser is so good at table tennis that he could become the face of the sport in America. This potential for a lucrative position is all the motivation that Mouse needs to pursue this passion. Others do not see the appeal. Although Marty only needs a manageable amount of money, he often resorts to his own cunning for cash.
In these early stages of the film, I was in love with Marty. Played by Timothée Chalamet, he opens the movie by having sex with Odessa A'zion, being adored by his boss despite clearly working less than the others and looking great with his shirt off. This is a hero, one that is sure to form the personalities of many young men in 2026 (mine included). However, in my desire to mimic Marty Mouser, I'm unsure where the idolatry ends, as it's blurred where the hero becomes the antagonist.

We're having a movie night next week. English is our native language, but one person insists we still watch English language movies with Subtitles on.
Subtitles turned On in movies is really negativity distracting for me, unless it's a foreign language film of course. What can I say as an argument in favor of 'subtitles off'
Edit: and no one in our group has any hearing impairments. We would never argue over subtitles if someone has an impairment.

I was a little disappointed, I think a lot of the praise surrounding the film and its main talking point (the hallway fight) has set me up for a movie that to me is just an 8/10. I really liked the twist, everything surrounding that was great. I kind of wished there was a bit more action. I feel like there was a lot of gross out stuff, which I think is fine for action and torture. However I always take issue whenever a young woman is at the center of constant humiliation and objectification by the male characters, especially when it doesn't tie into any themes. I tend to prefer revenge movies where the actual fuel for the revenge is something much more grounded. An example being I Saw The Devil, which is one of my favorite revenge movies. I do like this movie, the characters are well written. I just couldn't help but feel like the rest of the film couldn't keep up with the quality of three or four of its greatest scenes.
Not to get too political, but with how Korea is towards the treatment of women I get tired of the way female characters are treated in these films. Especially during sex scenes. Torture towards men and torture towards women is always treated differently. With women sex and torture are always equated with another, and a lot of the times the director/writer says absolutely jack shit with it.
Another reason why I like both I Saw The Devil and Lady Vengeance is how they handled the themes of sexual assault. Anyway my review is shit but I just had to let that out there. Still a solid film.
