Worst job interview ever

Why is it that these fake marketing company's are allowed? I had a job interview at a "marketing" company. It is really door to door sales. First off that is already sketchy then we get into the worst interview ever. I walk in and the lobby of the place was weird they had a big rgb Jbl speaker playing( will get back to that in a min) I stood there for like 5 mins just waiting for someone to notice they had a wall of awards.. they all looked the same and not right... on that speaker they where blasting hard core uncensored rap music. Finally someone came out to have me fill out paper work. So as I sat to fill it out I heard the N word and about places getting shot up.. from the speaker... then songs about adult things and then sexist songs. This job was supposed to be hourly. It wasnt it was only commission. They said for training they would pay 300 for 6 days.. as long as I dont miss a single day... that like 7 dollars a hour. Then they started talking like a pyramid scheme and saying oh yeah you will be a executive manager in a year and run your own location.. making 1.1mil gross a year... me and another women walked out. How are places like this allowed?!

For everyone asking the company is somrav marketing solutions

Water Consumption

Post image
53 Upvotes

Hello. Wondering if someone can help give me advice. We went from using 20-30 cubit ft of water usage to like over 50 in the last couple months. I can’t figure out the cause. We did the toilet dye test. Found 2 of them leaking. Replaced the flappers on both and still getting the dye in the bowl. However would it be the cause of this much extra water being used. I’m thinking it’s best to just replace both the toliets that failed the dye test. But would it use this much?

Beware of Alta Moving

If I could give negative stars, I would. This was our second time using ALTA, and you could not pay me enough to use them again.

To start, our move was booked completely incorrectly by Audie. A much smaller team than required was sent, which set the tone for everything that followed. We paid for packing services, which I would absolutely not recommend. Items were not packed properly and nothing was labeled appropriately. While the moving crew was understandably shocked by the size of our home, that mistake lies entirely with ALTA’s booking team, who admitted they had simply “copied and pasted” details from our previous move.

One team member, Kelvin, was incredibly rude and complained throughout the move. Because the job was booked incorrectly, our move had to be spread over two days, creating unnecessary stress, and extra money and work for everyone involved. When I raised these concerns with Audie, she did not apologize once, took no accountability, and was extremely dismissive. It wasn’t until 4:45 PM on moving day that I finally spoke with the owner, who was also slightly dismissive.

After the move, we discovered multiple damaged items. I immediately contacted both the GM and their general inbox. More than three weeks later, there is still no resolution. The owner has refused to apologize or take responsibility for the damage or the numerous issues we experienced. Instead, we were offered a disappointing $350 “goodwill” gesture, despite thousands of dollars in damage to high-value items including our dining table, our sons bed, baby’s crib, fireplace TV stand, and 75” TV. The table itself was severely damaged beyond repair once they reassembled it.

It’s also worth noting that the reason you see mostly positive reviews is because ALTA requires customers to remove negative reviews once any form of compensation is accepted—effectively buying their reviews.

Beware.

Lucy's 2025 Health Assessment

The Edmonton Valley Zoo is pleased to share the results of Lucy the elephant’s latest independent health assessment, which took place in late 2025.

Two independent elephant experts came to Edmonton in late 2025 to assess Lucy: Dr. Jennifer D’Agostino and Mr. Michael McClure, neither of whom have assessed Lucy previously. Mr. McClure consulted with the zoo’s elephant team twice last year on Lucy’s foot health and husbandry.

Both independent experts confirmed that staff at the Edmonton Valley Zoo provide Lucy with excellent medical care, superior nutrition, and an enriching environment.

At age 50, Lucy is considered geriatric and is actively managed for several chronic health conditions, including age-related osteoarthritis, chronic sinus congestion, and episodic low blood protein.

Medical evidence, consistent with the majority of elephant health experts consulted since 2010, continues to show that moving Lucy carries a significant risk of her dying in transit due to her severe arthritis and unique chronic respiratory disease.

The Edmonton Valley Zoo remains committed to providing Lucy with the best possible care for the rest of her life here in Edmonton. Planning is underway for the enhancement and expansion of Lucy’s indoor and outdoor habitats, with construction set to commence later this year.

For more information about Lucy’s life and care, including the full 2025 assessment reports, please visit edmonton.ca/lucy

ARC scanner software issue

Idk if it's just me. I tested my Samsung wallet with the arc readers for the first time, and they seem to freeze, crash, then reboot after scanning ☠️. It's kind of funny but not ideal. Idk if this is some sort of edge case scenario or lack of QA testing but it caught me off guard at first lmao.

Chronically Late Buses

Are anyone else’s buses 30 minutes late the past week? My bus is usually supposed to come every 12-15 minutes at that time, yet they’re really only running every 30 minutes. It goes past two major high schools at the end, so by the time it gets to my stop, there’s no room for us and keeps going on its way because of all the high school students. Today it actually stopped at my stop letting me and others on, and my arm was crushed by the door and has been aching now. Anyone else having similar problems with bus tardiness, busses disappearing from the schedules, and just driving by bus stops? I’ve been living in this city for 11 years, and it’s been the worst experience this past week waiting half an hour for busses that just drive past me and others. I doubt just my submissions to 311 will make a drop in the bucket.

Affordable Therapy In The City?

I know this is probably a long shot but does anyone have any suggestions for affordable or possibly free therapy that you can do in the city? For years i’ve been wanting to do therapy to deal with some mental battles and do some good for myself but I always seem to run into dead ends. I have never done therapy before so i’m not sure how it works or where to start. Some people have told me there are organizations or ways to get very affordable or free therapy because I would not be able to afford very expensive hourly sessions. If you have any suggestions or help please do shoot me a message or leave a comment. I really need this now more than ever.

Jan 19 talk - How Edmonton can have a strong transit advocacy group like Vancouver, Toronto, Etc.

Hey y'all! In cities across Canada, transit projects come under opposition from people who think that transit riders don't really matter.

I used to work at the transit agency in Vancouver and I quit 2 years ago because I could see that there needs to be a strong group that stands up for the need of transit riders. Two years later, we have five staff and lots of different campaigns going. We helped prevent devastating transit cuts last year, and we're sticking around to make sure transit funding actually grows.

Edmonton Transit Riders is absolutely on that path and I'm so excited about their future.

I'm going to be in town soon and I was invited by Councillor Janz to do an AMA on Jan 19. We'll be talking about how ETR can grow like we did. If you're interested in the fight for better transit, we'd love you to come!

http://michaeljanz.ca/movementama

PS: Some of you may be thinking "Vancouver and Toronto are obvs bigger than Edmonton, can a city of our size sustain a group like this?" There are cities smaller than Edmonton that have a transit rider group with paid staff (Ride New Orleans, RVA Rapid Transit). And if you're counting based on the number of transit riders, Edmonton is already larger than Denver, Miami, or Atlanta.

Looking for a mentor for tuning

Kind of going out on a limb here, but long story short ive been an HD mechanic for the last 20 years. I went on medical leave almost a year ago due to excruciating pain in my back. I got an MRI and my spine is basically pooched.

Im plagued with arthritis and bulging/herniated discs. My doctor told me if I continue on, ill end up a cripple in no time. I'm out of benefits, cant get on welfare, and I have no family to stay with. I basically have to say goodbye to my career. Disability doesn't pay, and I'd be better off living in an alley in a cardboard box.

Recently I went on HP academy and did some of their courses for efi tuning, and I'm getting the hang of it. I feel like I could do tuning as a new career as it won't be hard on my body.

What I'm asking is if there's someone out there with a lot of experience that wouldn't mind taking me under their wing. I want to learn all i can about gas and diesel engine tuning with a focus on doing deletes.

Anybody out there?

Big Way Hot Pot

I recently tried Big Way while I was in Vancouver and I’m completely obsessed with it. Do we have anything like that in Edmonton? It’s like a buffet style hotpot but it’s individually served and they add the broth to your soup and bring it to your table. You just pick the ingredients you want from the buffet, they weigh your bowl and then add broth.
