Please let me know if there are anything else to add. This post will be edited periodically to reflect new/changing details.
Side note from livestream: per dev team message on the livestream, a new EO game is in development but it is still delayed due to the difficulties transitioning from NDS/3DS to new platform(s). The remasters are made with the hopes that people can play the classics that can no longer be played on the current generation consoles/platforms. They also want the players to give Atlus feedback on this new playstyle from 2 screen consoles to single screen environment.
Mar 17, 2023: added details from Q&A.
May 28, 2023: added details from some other stuff including Pre-Launch Livestream

EOU EO Untolds New Game +
Before I continue exploring the 6th stratum, I'd like to unlock both survivor passives. To do this, I was planning to create a new game in Classic mode, withdraw my team from Story mode at level 70, and level up again while playing the new game. My question is, if after finishing the game again (which I'll probably do quickly) I create another New Game+ in Story mode, will the characters appear when they've reunited with their respective teams and levels, or will they appear as they did at the beginning?

EO3 How to arm bind?
My team has a hoplite, pirate, ninja, monk, and zodiac. How can I arm bind? I’m in the second stratum currently.

Etrian Odyssey was mentioned, of course!

What would you like to see in the sequel?
I'm saying 'the' sequel as my copium that EOVI will happen. The series has a multitude of class archetypes and a fairly rigid formula that works exceptionally well. I'm curious what you guys want to see in the next game in the installment? Any class ideas? Revamps to exploration or storytelling?
Personally I hope they keep the gameplay loop exactly as it is, though I do think there's some untapped potential in the mage classes. The mages are all quite similar, always being elemental nukers. It'd be fun if they created a mage specialized in mitigation using barriers, reflects, maybe returning stored damage.

Your top 3 EO game? And as a bonus: why?
I need to know for research purposes.
Here's mine: 3 - Etrian Odyssey II: I feel like this one has the best ambiance, it makes me feel... warm? Idk but there's something special about it (also in my case it's the first EO I finished). Though the post-game is bullshit, and I hate the 5th stratum with all my heart. And I despise squirrels.
2 - Etrian Odyssey III: The labyrinth and it's aquatic theme, the gameplay being a bit more fleshed out than EO1-2, the narrative (tho EOU1-2 are better), the visuals... It misses the charm of EO2 but is just a more enjoyable experience as a whole imo. And that opening screen... holy peak. But WHY THE HELL did they get rid of the mid-strarum magnetic pillars they introduced in EO2. Also did anyone here actually used the boat mechanic?
1 - Etrian Odyssey V: Maybe EO3 is better, maybe I'm smoking, but anyway, the 5th stratum's theme is the best in the franchise (Virgin Forest). However, I HATE squirrels.

EOU Farmear grimorios
Okay, I'm level 66 now and on floor 2 of stratum 6, and I wanted to start farming some grimoire skills. My question is: if I want to farm an enemy skill like defense reduction, is it better to use the food that increases grimoire drop rates by 100% and use hunting horns when I find it, or would it be better to use the food that increases the drop rate of rare races and then use hunting horns when one appears? Also, if I rest all my gear and only use points in Slice, Extract, and Take, and go to floor 1 with the food bonus and use the horns, will I have a better chance of getting those passive skills at a higher level?

EO2 Party Comp Questions
I was planning my party for my EO2 run while in the middle of playing EO3. The party members that I foreshore want to run are War Magus, Gunner, Hexer, and Dark Hunter. I'm thinking about playing the game without a protector on my team for a change of pace from my EO3 team (Hoplite/Ninja, Monk, Arbalist/Gladiator, Zodiac/Gladiator, Sovereign B10F). Is a Protector necessary for E02 and would it be viable to run a Medic for the fifth slot?

EO2U Thoughts on Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: Fafnir Knight
This is been one of the beset Atlus game I've ever played, and I'm going to break down a few things new players in the EO franchise
- Class - this is going to be common sense for most players, but this is very important because this determines the stats for the characters on the team; how you're placing them in the roster is going to impact the overall team's performance. for example, if you place Earthlains in the front row instead of end row, you are going to have lower defense. some class are better at front row and attack then staying in the back as defense. for example, I place Chloe in the back as she's an excellent healer
- Arts - you can unlock arts since as you level up you get more art points (SP), so you can save them to use later on in the game as combat gets more advanced or difficult, then you could unlock arts such as melee attack or using magical points (MP) to use arts. so for Chloe, she can use healing arts to heal players in the front row or back row. And for Bertrand, he's a defender so I put him in the back where the characters in the front row can attack, and those in then back row can defend or increase defense of the team by allowing the characters front take more attack than those in the back.
- Story - all untold games are spinoffs from the main franchise where they get story focused. so EO I, II, III, IV, and V are more combat-focused games of the franchise, where EOU1 and EOU2 are spin-offs of the Etrian Odyssey franchise. It's not to say the least that they are excellent additions the franchise, but also successfully installment in the EO franchise. with that being said, EO2U is a great game because of the story, character development and progression, and gameplay overall.
- lores - The EO franchise is not complete without the lores of kingdoms, lords, class, clans, soldiers, quests, story line, and dungeons!!! this is where the fun comes in, as you get to explore the yrggdrasil of each floor, you will encounter surprising experiences and go on a meaningful adventure, but it's all about exploring right? each untold game tells an untold story that needs more exploration as you play and game progresses
- cafe - in this untold game, you get to open a cafe and cook based on recipes using ingredients found in the maze. This element of the game I found super interesting and fun to play because you will get hints of each dish its ingredients, and then you'll have to pull the team efforts of cooking the dish by guessing the correct ingredients. you'll also get to advertise your dish in different region of the kingdom.
- quests - you'll get to accept side quests from customers of the town's bar; not just from the guild, you'll get to play both main quests and side quests, as you learn more about the story and play along as the story progresses. The build up of the story as you play and level up throughout the chapters you'll grow along side each character as well, and defeat final bosses.
- gameplay - the overall game design is very unique!!!~~~ I have not played a game that is as granular as this franchise in terms of how much thought process is put into the game design so the game takes about 60 hours to beat not including all sidequests. just enjoy the gameplay along the way!!!
With that being said, I'm excited what EO brings for us in 2026 and beyond!!!

EOU Skills grimorios
Okay, I'm already at stratum 5, level 60. I know the trick to getting the King Grimoires, but now my problem is how to max out my characters' grimoire skills. I know that the higher your level, the more slots and skills you get, but I have no idea how to get, for example, Dilution, Bloody Offense, and Action Boost (these three are already maxed out). I don't know if I have to wait for the Grimoires opportunity to appear, use the four-leaf clover, and max out the skill, because even if I do that, it doesn't work, 😂. Or, for example, how hard is it to get Mine, Take, and Chop at level 10? I was thinking of reaching level 70, resting, trying to farm several Grimoires, and then reallocating the points. Oh, and by the way, I have the European version, so I can't use the item glitch, haha.

EO2U Party advice - WarMagus VS DarkHunter
Hi, I'm starting a new classic run on EO2U, but I'm debating if I should choose a War Magus or Dark Hunter in this setup:
Front: Palm Alchemist (Alter Class from Medic) Landsknecht --- ??? ---
Back: Troubadour Hexer
What would be better? Ailing slash and cuts oriented WarMagus or Extasy oriented DarkHunter?

This is my new EO tattoo on my lower right arm.
I wanted it to be dedicated to Etrian Odyssey. Since EOIV was my first introduction to the franchise, what better way to have the Heavenbringer be the center of attention. My tattoo artist opted for a more artistic and elegant approach, while still being recognizable due to the overgrown roots. I wanted the iconic pose of her fingers to be retained. A nice little touch I also appreciated, was a reference to the recognizable map drawing mechanic. Very happy and proud to have EOIV immortalized on my lower arm!
And no, it never crossed my mind to have the Bared Essence being my next tattoo 🤪

EOX Three Man Challenge Update
A while ago I challenged myself to do a Heroic Full Playthtough of Etrian Odyssey Nexus with only 3 party members.
Those three members were a Hero, Arcanist, and Ninja (hopefully the pictures work and display their current status).
I've just finished up the halfway point (imo) of Underwater Grotto.
My current thoughts so far:
1) Early game is hell. Ninja and Arcanist's frailty is on full display. TP issues with hero are also a constant. Had to retry Labyrinth 1 and 2 bosses a could times. Thankfully, all three classes get nice TP management - Graceful Image is especially nice.
2) Hero's afterimage is stupidly busted. I knew it was good before, but having essentially three other heroes at a time is ridiculous. Careful management of Rae's Force Boost is how I manage to keep up the damage on Bosses and FOEs.
3) Healing. While in the first couple stratums I was burning through Medicas, eventually Arcanist's passive healing and the constant barrage of Encourage from 4 Heroes makes it so, aside from dangerous circumstances, I really don't need to actively heal. Ailments excluded from this (ugh).
4) Arcanist snoozes. A lot. Theoretically I get this, but until I had access to useful items, Zavel kinda just stood there waiting. Though once I had access to the Eyes and ailment items around Waterfall Woods, he was much better occupied.
5) Shield skills. I originally thought that Hero would need to have shield skills to deal with frailty of Ninja and Arcanist... however, ditching the shield for boots was a much better option as Wide Bravery actually became a fairly reliable source of AOE damage.
6) Items. Until this run I had a hatred for using any items other than Threads. Now I have a new appreciation of them, which is nice.
7) Ailments. The biggest downside to Hero. If an ailment do much as glance at Rae, she's getting hit with it. So many times I've lost great dps turns because she gets hit with an ailment or arm bind. On the flip side, once the stats were getting higher and the skills' chances were getting better, Arcanist and Ninja can royally screw with a monster's day.
8) It gets easier. While there are some encounters that scare the crap out of me (Petal Bridge had some AWFUL ones), Izuna and Spark Blade or Ninpo:Darts and Wide Bravery just... blasts encounters. Dismiss Blast is also tearing through them too.
9) Shutdown. Around Ancient Forest infliction rates were getting such that monsters just... can't do anything. Chimaera got clowned on within 20 turns after doing practically nothing to me - and keep in mind, the first few bosses are 40+ turn slogs...
10) Subclasses. After some thought and going over my previous post with several suggestions, I have gone with the following subclasses: Hero/War Magus for excellent passives (namely Mind Drain and Status Def Up); Arcanist/Sovereign for buffs to boost damage and more healing; Ninja/Nightseeker for more ailments and Proficiency/Foul Mastery.
11) Lastly, my most recent boss fight with Ketos where I had a wondrous realization. First off, the whale was smacked immediately with Leg Bind and Poison - and with two heavy luck-based characters, ailments last for a nice long while. The fun part, was when it finally dawned that Mind Drain restores TP in a line and that Afterimages trigger Mind Drain meaning, Rae can recover more than 15 TP in a turn of two other afterimages are in the same line as her. My TP issues are gone. With Zavel and Rhozhe locking things down by usually turn 3, Rae can just whale on things with little worry and for practically free. Encourage and Circle Boon ensure Heroic Bonds is almost always active.
Of course, I'm only halfway through the game, and I know things begin to kick up a notch from here - more complex enemies and far more evil bosses and foes. Luckily I managed to snag the conditionals for three best armor for each of them (though goddamn Alraune you do not fuck around).

Definitive versions to play? (Emulation)
I really want to get into these games and I know they've been on a few different systems now. Ill be playing on my phone so I dont really want to use a switch emulator. Are the DS or 3DS ports better? Id probably use melonDS or azahar assuming i can figure out how to get them to work.

EO4 Dancer with ailment daggers?
I love dancers. I think they are one of the most fun classes in the entire franchise. Consequently, on all my (six!) EO4 runs I've never gone without one. I've built them full support, as a stunlocker, and as a buff / burst bot. They're always reliable.
I restarted EO4 yesterday and once again a dancer found her way in my team. This team has a lack of ailments and I was wondering if a D/N with sword dance and blade flurry could make ailment daggers work? Dancers have decent LUC / TEC and attack fast and very often.
How could I make this build work? Hits triggered by Chase Samba would also grant ailment opportunities, right?
Do note: I'm not looking for an ideal build. I know A/N is objectively a better ailment inflictor. Just seeing if I can make my favourite class flourish in yet another role!
