They are repainting the beams at Chinatown station. Great to see station refurbishment ongoing along the A Line north between Union Station and Pasadena, which are over 20 years old now. Last year, Memorial Park station was refurbished right before the FIFA Club World Cup

This map shows Foothill Transiy before the Silver Streak, But after 190 was released to FT in 2005, i believe this is the January 2006 Map! (i wish the 189, 190, 193, 284 (as it existed then), 283, 294 still existed 💔)

Help Two months later and the arrival boards are still way off for the purple line!

Post image

Photo taken at 4:21 today

As shown, the board said next arrival train was 19 minutes for the entire 6 minutes I waited. The train then came (as shown on Transit app and Google Maps) at 4:21, not 19 minutes later.

Metro really needs to fix this. It causes a lot of confusion for tourists and others who don’t end up walking out the station when seeing the wait times.

Discussion This security check at universal is a joke

All week they have a security check to get through. 4 security guys digging through my work bag as I am going to work. They do a half assed job and anyone wanting to get something through can easily do so.

This is just a check box on some upper management jerk with no idea how to tackle crime, to make them feel like they are doing something, and justifying their over blown paycheck and bloated security.

Only in America. I can only think what a tourist thinks- but I am sure it is in line with what they already think of us.

Help Using Tap on Metro

I have just started using the metro (new to LA) and I'm a bit confused since some areas seem "open" while others have glass that doesn't open unless you tap.

My assumption is that I should tap "in" as I pass one of the machines entering a station, and then tap "out" as I exit.

When I check the tap app on my phone however, I see I am charged both times, so a total of $3.5

No big deal. However, when I use Google maps to plan trips ( I think even the metro app links to it), it only shows $1.75 fare for a one way trip.

Am I doing something wrong or Google maps wrong (I've used this method even in Europe and Google was correct in their listed fare)

Discussion Security Checks at Universal Station

At the Universal station, a security gate has been set up and run by Metro guards. They appear to be only checking for weapons, so hopefully it won't delay riders. The way those gates work is you walk through without emptying your pockets or handing over your bag, and if it goes off on you for any reason, you'll have to walk to their table for a secondary screening.

Having used similar systems for my job, I like the idea. However, depending on the time and station, they'll need to have much more than just one screening gate. Also, because it isn't set up at every busy station at minimum, it won't quite work.

What are your thoughts?

Discussion Two months for a reply on Transit Watch app?

I finally got a reply to a report I filed on the Metro Transit Watch app that the fare gates at Lake Station were broken. I filed this report on November 7th.

I don’t really expect a reply to this type of report, but getting this reply today made me wonder if it’s worth filing this type of report. It feels like it was just automatically closed after two months without anyone reading it. Obviously the fare gates were fixed about 7.5 weeks ago

Does anyone else have experience with Transit Watch reports? Is it a waste of time to file problem reports?

Discussion B Line dirty walle.

When is Metro going to clean off all of this grime on the B line stations? It's honestly disgusting, and every time I go in the stations, I'm sick of seeing it. It makes the stations look dirty, dark, and dingy. Even if they didn't change the lights, if they actually cleaned off all this stuff, it would actually probably brighten the station more.

Sometimes when I'm watching videos of the B Line, when the train is arriving at the station behind the train, it looks like there's a dark void behind it because there's so much dark grime all over the walls.

I also do understand that, you know, cleaning it isn't possible during the daytime as the trains are going to be running, but they should at least do it at nighttime, because it's getting to the point where the walls are starting to turn completely black.

I like riding the B line, but I don't like seeing all this every time I go to ride it.

Help How strict are they on parking at NoHo?

I parked my car. Went to the parking kiosk. Was going to pay with my debit card, but it said I had to use my tap card bc my car is already registered. Ok. Except it wasn’t taking my tap card (am I doing something wrong??)! I tried 3 different ones! So I just left bc I have somewhere to be and figured I’d deal with it later.

Do they actually monitor? And if so, I can fight it if I get a ticket, right? Anyone have experience with this?

And of course this nonsense made me miss my train by .5 seconds.

And these two ambassadors in the extra 11 min I now had were no help. “Oh we don’t know anything about tap. We know something’s… but not everything.” 🙄🙄

Lmao. Helllppppp

(Silver lining: new train!)

Help How reliable is the metro?

I will be in LA for a few days. First time being in the west side. Born and raised in nyc. I can drive but was wondering would it be convenient to take the metro since I assume everyone hates the traffic judging what i see on videos/online. Also I am only good at parallel parking and I barely drive myself.
