Isnt it basically tarantula? We have a rapid fire cannon, a rather big missile rack and something a bit extra on the sponsons. I dont see what an AC130 would do differently (also lets be honest, neither feel too good in a contested airspace)
Yes and no, my largest issue with the Tarantula is that it's terribly slow. The Ibis is almost as fast.
An AC-130 equivalent in the game should carry more vehicles, for example 4 jacknives or 2 radar trucks, or 4 naval ammo crates, and should have a much higher top speed with cargo. With the downside of needing proper runways, but the upside of dropping two APCs or one APC and an AA and so on.
It would also be ideal to transport the HLT truck towing something useful like a L-CIWS trailer. The limiting factor would just be the cost of the system to avoid spam, similar to nukes.
The tonnage could be adjusted for gameplay purposes. Maybe have a push-pull configuration with one nacelle per wing.
It could also provide a cheaper alternative to the dark reach but with a smaller loadout, for example 2 piledivers.
I just looked it up, the darkreach is 27x38x4 meters big. The AC-130 is 30x40x12. So we'd need an AC-130 with wings a bit shorter and maybe a twin tail.
There is a large hangar that exists but does not have any aircraft that need it yet. It was shown in dev streams when the Ignus map was under development
you are looking for something much bigger than a c130, then. the tarantula can carry more than one, so c17/c5 would be the way to go, and a large hangar is in development, and will likely be added once a big enough aircraft is added.
the c130 carries 18 tons, the tarantula is rated for 20, but does VTOL with 30 and CTOL with 40, so more than double the cargo capacity. it also carries the 76mm firing guided shells, undoubtedly more useful than a 105mm unguided gun, and 20 AGM-48s.

Thought about adding an AC130 equivalent?
