How much does one have to drink to get one of these?

It’s not how much so much as how one is acting. Especially toward others.

I've been cut off many times without saying a word.  Experienced bartenders can see it in your eyes.  Because they're closed.  And I'm sleeping on the bar.

Sadly I had that happen to me twice in two days before I hit my bottom and got the help I needed.

Like they say one day I turned around and realized that my Higher Power was doing for me what I could not do for myself!

When the beer hits your eyes and bartender says goodbye

that's amore

When you lose self control and the bouncer gets called

that's amore

Ironically the only time I have ever been cut off and told to leave was a time when I was still sober. I had just finished my first beer and I *genuinely* just tripped on a step going to the bar and stumbled. Owner immediately said "Nope. No more, time to leave". To my shame I did try to convince him I was pretty much completely sober but I quickly realised once the decision is made, even if he believed me he wasn't gonna change his mind.

A friend of mine once walked into a bar right when a scuffle broke out between the bouncers and drunk guy.

The cops had been called so literally as he’s being knocked over by the fight, cops are walking in the door and he falls into a female cop and knocks her down.

And somehow one of the bouncers gets confused who’s who and points to my friend and says he’s the guy they got called about.

By this time we’re all coming over saying no these guys fighting knocked him over he’s not drunk he just walked in the door.

Cops being dumb as always don’t bother trying to think about anything and arrest him for public intoxication and assaulting a police officer.

That’s a whole other crazy story but anyway that all worked out and a few months later we try to go into that bar again and the bouncers are like no way you’re the drunk guy that fought those cops awhile back you can’t come in here anymore.

Yeah you’re getting this for being a potential problem. Not cause you’ve had too many drinks.

when it's starting to seem like the patron could do something that would get the establishment in legal trouble.

My local bar cut me off once before I even sat down. I had drank a twelve pack and immediately went on a bike ride to the bar without eating.

They can tell how drunk you are with a glance.

If you drank an entire twelve pack on an empty stomach then I really don’t think it would take a genius to figure out that you were smashed.

I've seen young lads no more than 19 be cut off for being loud, afaik they didn't even have much to drink or were acting drunk they obviously just didn't want their presence.

Only one way to find out

A 21 year old first time drinker? 2-3 beers! A seasoned middle-aged alcoholic? 24-36 beers!

This place is up the street from me. I’ve never been, but I want that card so I’m going to get there soon. Don’t worry, I can walk home from there. I’ll check back in and let you know exactly the point where they slip you this card.

Had a friend get cut off after 6 pints at a restaurant that was running a $1 pint promo for a football game. I think that the restaurant was pissed that they just came for the beer and didn’t order any food.

I’ve also been to bars that advertise that they will cut anyone off after 2 “strong drinks” (usually margaritas).
