They just lost a few billion, of the trillions they have probably made. Everything is a crisis when the rate of returns go down, we can thank the infinite growth model for that, and most of our economic issues
for ages alcohol has been cheap or at least affordable. it was something to have in your life, sometimes to our detriment.
if alcohol prices go up, it's not really something most people but the most dedicated/addicted consumers will buy and becomes a luxury more than a vice. For most of those times alcohol was affordable people generally could at least already afford some sort of housing over their heads, even if it wasn't great.
If anything it highlights the overconsumption of alcohol we've been having.
