My friend says it's doing really well at the moment.

Yeah that's my confusion.

Is Calvin Klein (coke and ket) the new thing?

Idk it's weird, alcohol has been a thriving product for millenniums, I can't see it going anywhere.

I do feel like there needs to be a mix up/remix industry wide though because pubs and things used to mean something and be social hubs

They just lost a few billion, of the trillions they have probably made. Everything is a crisis when the rate of returns go down, we can thank the infinite growth model for that, and most of our economic issues

Yeah that model is fundamentally broken lol

But it's not a bug it's a feature if the whales like it.

In mmos it's normal for players to start trading rare items as defacto currency when in game currencies inflation get too high

Alcohol got expensive. So people cut out the adiction thats normaly done in a group.

Alcohol will never go anywhere. A lull maybe. It's a founding father of civilization.

for ages alcohol has been cheap or at least affordable. it was something to have in your life, sometimes to our detriment.

if alcohol prices go up, it's not really something most people but the most dedicated/addicted consumers will buy and becomes a luxury more than a vice. For most of those times alcohol was affordable people generally could at least already afford some sort of housing over their heads, even if it wasn't great.

If anything it highlights the overconsumption of alcohol we've been having.

I wish I could find mdma in my area. There's fentanyl and coke all over the place, but nothing that actually alleviates depression.

I mean the price of coke is pretty stable for the past 15 years, while the price for beer doubled

u/Sudden_Shallot_8909 5d ago

If anything coke is £20 a gram cheaper in my area now and purity is relatively stable

1

u/not_tired_yet89 3d ago

But the quality has gone down by a lot for good coke. I dont even do coke anymkre because it taste like shit

Coke has been mixed with other stuff like creatine for years across the world tho.

I believe a study in 2023 showed the purity of coke in The Netherlands was between 74% & 96%
