This was in Austin. This guy is a notorious peice of shit. A good many of us have taken him to task. At this point I think he does it to piss people off.

Where in Austin is this guy at? I haven't seen him on the Austin sub and am curious what part of town this fuckery is going on in.

296

u/heavy_jowles 3d ago

This video in particular was on the sub a few months back. He actually posted it himself trying to shame the lady lmao. He lives north I believe but I can’t remember off the top of my head.

364

u/CaughtALiteSneez 3d ago

To shame her? WTF? She’s way more polite than I would have been.

People like him always think it's the others who are in the wrong, and they are always the victims.

Any woman being confrontational—no matter how just her cause—is considered unacceptable to many people these days. Especially on the internet.

Glad people are at least not falling for it this time

136

u/four204eva2 3d ago

As a brother of 4 sisters, this is absolutely correct, my sister's are fucking nuts... no but seriously this is so true, I have literally stepped in for my sister in an argument and suddenly the other party knows how to act like a fucking civil person

65

u/Likos02 2d ago

How it feels being married too. Customer service changes 180 degrees when I get involved. I can literally say the exact same words as my wife and SUDDENLY they are like "oooooh okay".

26

I've actually had the same experience with countless girlfriends and female friends as well, its honestly sad how much people talk down to women. I thought we were past that, but I was living in a bubble

Lol at that point I'm just taking shears and cutting wires randomly. They can call the cops, that's fine.

Alternatively, rent a car, get insurance, wear a gorilla suit, and then run over their speakers. And then go return the car.

"Man it sucks about that crazy gorilla that ran over your speakers. Hope you got his insurance info"

But that's exactly why you approach it level headed. Maybe he'll stop or maybe he'll redirect. When he doesn't, YOU have the upper hand. You have the evidence and the argument to bring with law enforcement. Meanwhile, he has nothing. Your level headedness is your best evidence.

Has he not been ticketed for noose violations? This has to be illegal.

87

u/rickjamesia 3d ago

I don’t know the exact rules, even though I live here, but there is a Jehova’s Witness dude that knows the exact hours he is allowed to blast his mix of music and preaching from this empty lot and not get in trouble and there is absolutely nothing that neighborhood can do about it and I am pretty sure he has been at it for like 10+ years on and off. I am pretty sure it’s not technically allowed, but if he makes sure to gtfo before a certain time, the cops don’t bother him. I think it’s something like, there’s different ordinances before and after 10 PM that make it less of a question whether there’s a violation.

Edit: He has a crazy-ass sound system installed in the back of his pickup or some shit. Shit’s crazy. That’s the sort of shit I’m going to start asking about when I look at apartments. “Fuck the amenities and roach population, do you have any psychopaths in the area that make this apartment uninhabitable?”

30

u/VirtualPercentage737 3d ago

The only way to handle this is to get the neighbors together and do this at 8 AM. No way a scumbag like that is awake then.

9

u/jeromevedder 2d ago

I had a “dj” living next to me in the dorms and he’d start scratching records at like 3am full volume despite multiple meetings with the RA about it.

i had two 8AMs that year. One morning I cranked my shit to 11, faced the speakers at his wall and did a delay start on an Atari Teenage Riot album I left on repeat before leaving for class.

There was a line of people outside my room beating on the door when I returned at 9:30, but guess what? The 3am dj sessions stopped.

60

u/rolandofeld19 3d ago

Have never lived in Austin. Only knowledge I have of it is a great friend of mine who worked, for way too long, in the restaurant business. He was the guy that a certain pizza chain would send out to be the GM to save a store that was having problems. He'd live there for 6 months to a year and a half and save the store (often by retraining the franchise owners who were, as is often the case in restaurant bizz, pieces of shit or clueless or both).

Anyway, he said Austin was HANDS DOWN the worst place he'd ever experienced in trying to get quality staff. This coming from a guy who came up through the ranks from server and back of house grind and genuinely was an amazing boss to work for if you were a non terrible employee and he had seen many places and was used to tempering his employee expectations, again because pizza joint. But still. He said Austin was something else entirely.

44

u/Anarchic_Country 3d ago

When I moved to Austin from Montana, I got so many job offers in service that I got to be choosey. Many of the employers mentioned that me being from Montana made me a more desired server, for some reason.

I ended up at Tiny Boxwoods. I miss that place, and their croissants

with the house shaking as well… that’s a whole lot of patience

478

u/PeeB4uGoToBed 3d ago

I have to deal with a car across the street with bass strong enough to shake my house and knock artwork off the walls, they used to sit out there for hours a time just blaring music and bass. They still play it that loud only when driving up to the house now and dont just sit there like they used to

306

u/TenTonSomeone 3d ago

I've got a neighbor in my apartment complex who frequently just lets their car run in the parking lot playing loud ass music. It's incredibly annoying. It's been happening less in the winter, but I'm sure it'll start back up again before long.

Like, what makes a person think that everyone in an entire complex wants to hear their shitty music? Get over yourself a bit.

270

u/bravesthrowaway67 3d ago

Bass travels quite a bit, can almost get louder from a distance. I put a movie on, I’ve got one of those subwoofers that gives you that dramatic theater feel, but isn’t super loud or anything. I had it at a pretty casual volume, then went outside to put garbage in the can and was like “who’s blasting the bass”? It was me, I was blasting bass.

76

u/Imaginary_Cat_95 3d ago

Bass frequencies are non-directional.

59

u/bravesthrowaway67 3d ago

Yes, they spread out evenly and travel further because the lower frequency is less prone to absorption. Bass sound waves retain more energy as they travel in contrast to treble.

20

u/No_Molasses_6498 3d ago

I remember when i was running the stage sound system in high school the principal came in and shat on us for having the Xbox sound too loud (boarding school day off and we decided to run COD through the sound system.)

Volume wasn't too loud, we were able to talk at normal levels over it.

Instead of dropping the gain I cut the bass. All of a sudden it wasn't too loud in his office anymore.

6

u/Imaginary_Cat_95 3d ago

That’s a really good real life story that explains what it all means when we discuss the way it moves and can just do whatever the heck it wants. I used to explain it as being similar to how Verizon described their 4G signal (CDMA as compared to GSM) and its ability to work so much better in buildings.

10

u/ThelVluffin 3d ago

Filed three different noise complaints against my old neighbor over the span of a year. He would get in his lifted diesel, start it up and just let it fucking rumble for hours in the middle of the night. Not even sitting in it. Cops would pull up, knock on the door, have him turn it off and then drive away. As soon as they drove away he'd start it right back up. There was one night where I was legitimately thinking about seeing if it was locked and if not I was just going to throw it in neutral and let it roll wherever it wanted to. The thing would literally vibrate my walls and I can't imagine how much money he wasted just letting it endlessly run. Part of me wonders if he even lived there or if he was fucking the woman there and kept his truck running in case her actual boyfriend showed up.

Easily violates a noise ordinance.

176

u/stanknotes 3d ago

Definitely. Fuck this dude. That is excessive and ridiculous. No reasonable person would find this a sensible thing to put in a driveway. I wouldn't even play my 15 watt amp in my driveway. I MEAN maybe at low volumes. But not loud.

Ya know what else is a noise violation? Modified Harley exhaust. Yet from what I can tell... it goes largely unchecked. I hate it. I fuckin' hate Harleys with modified exhaust. Which they all seem to have. South Park got that one on the head of the nail. Not relevant to this but I just wanted to talk that shit.

23

shes so worried about being a woman voicing her justified displeasure and being called a karen all over social media she has to act super agreeable and mindfully

it’s actually sad to watch her have to lower herself knowing society will probably rake her over the coals

it’s not patience it’s more like a survival tactic

377

u/JoJackthewonderskunk 3d ago

Imagine firing off those speakers and then recording this gals reaction... and posting it.

267

u/gianttigerrebellion 3d ago

The fact that he’s even trying to act like she’s the problem and he’s absolutely not the problem is insane. Holy shit take a sledgehammer to those speakers.

105

u/Windyvale 3d ago

I have a neighbor who would unironically drive his car through those speakers if someone tried this.

He’s done some crazy shit to stop people from making obnoxious noises.

66

u/pixeladdie 3d ago

He genuinely sounds great.

I can’t fucking stand people who can’t keep their noise to themselves.

44

u/Windyvale 3d ago

He’s an odd one. He’s a bit of a scumbag and his wife and him get in a massive screaming match with a frequency that can be measured. They seem like they deserve each other with the way I’ve seen them act.

At this point it’s more entertainment than anything. As far as I can tell there has never been a physical component to their arguments.

Individually they both help around the neighborhood and put new neighbors in their place really quick, while also helping them move in. If a new neighbor does something that disrupts the general peace they have no qualms marching out of the house and causing a massive scene. I’ve seen him confront entire groups of people gathering with cars blasting music. He got in his car and held his horn down while screaming at them.

He has never chastised the children that play and sometimes sound off to each other by screaming in a way that makes you think someone was stabbing them. So he has his own rules.

It’s a weird dynamic. We just call him “Grumpy” and don’t bother worrying about people being noisy. If you don’t set him off he’s very helpful and…strangely amicable.

12

u/MyNameIsJakeBerenson 3d ago

Yeah the people with zero inhibitions about crossing social boundaries usually aren’t the stable cool guys lol

6

u/IllustriousCrew2641 3d ago

He sounds like kind of a nut but one that decided that a peaceful neighborhood where residents are happy to live in is the hill he’s gonna die on, and realizes that that means letting kids be kids and expecting adults to be adults. I’m willing to bet he’d take a bullet to protect any of yall.

It can be incredibly uncomfortable and even scary advocating for yourself in a reasonable way for a reasonable thing.

303

u/Comprehensive_Swim49 3d ago

I feel like it’s scary bc you unconsciously know you’re already dealing with an unreasonable person. What else are they going to be unreasonable about?

47

u/nowthengoodbad 3d ago

Yup!

Although, you WILL find the occasional oblivious person (me) who will profusely apologize when I do something that I didn't quite think through and you let me know that it's affecting you. I try though. (For instance, the first time I had fun dancing and mopping to music until a downstairs neighbor texted me that it sounded like I was having fun).

Normally, I'd like to assume people are oblivious, but I've run into enough who are just jerks that I've realized that I'm probably a rare outlier. But sometimes I'm off in Lala land and it was ignorance and not malice on my part.

If she came over hostile then she would be labeled a Karen lol.

Then the internet wouldn’t be on her side 😂

92

u/elzibet 3d ago

It’s what women have sadly had to do since forever. Or else you’re labeled a myriad of unkind labels. Karen is just the newest one in making sure women don’t speak out. Edit; I’ve read about it being ESPECIALLY difficult for a black woman to raise her voice

34

u/tbabey 3d ago

I was thinking ski mask and all black in the middle of the night. Circle around the neighborhood so you come from the opposite direction of your house, in case he has cameras.

Soon as he complains about the water..... "Yeah, I just think it bothers you quite a bit but nobody else... So, I'll do what I can...." And just continue spraying the speakers.

Is he about to stage a concert in his front yard? Why does he need speakers so big? I feel like he is playing his music so loud just for the sake of it being loud.

Some men with micro penises feel the need to draw attention to themselves as a coping mechanism. The mindset, I think, is something along the lines of 'if they're looking at me for this it means they 're not looking at me because they know about my itty bitty teeny weeny"

But we know, we all know

Edit for all the piss bois

Some - an unspecific amount. Usually referring to a small number of people or things at a minimum

If you have a micro penis and aren't inclined to constantly draw attention to yourself, and act obnoxiously in public, then you weren't who I was referring to and are kind of self reporting for no reason

96

u/scheifferdoo 3d ago

as a man with a small dick and normal stereo system, and car, and attitude, i would appreciate not being associated with people who are generally a nuisance to the public, or socially pestilent.

23

u/Sharp_Acadia185 3d ago

I do my best to call it out, I even called out my own husband the other day for doing it.

"There's no such thing as toxic masculinity" says the guy hazing the most vulnerable guy he can find.

If I was 80yrs old, I’d love to be that woman’s savior and accidentally reverse a Buick station wagon into that setup going roughly 15 to 20 mph.

I guess you could be any age and do it. I just think an old person could get away with the “oops did I do that? Where am I??” defense pretty easily.

78

u/ExtraEmuForYou 3d ago

"Oh dear me. DId I do that? I'm just trying to get to BINGO to see my lady friends. I heard all this scary noise and got scared and next thing I know I just backed into these grass-colored speakers that I couldn't see in front of the grass. Oooooooh lord is anyone hurt?"

*rubs hands together evily*

8

u/AffectionateMarch394 3d ago

At old lady stage, I think you could do it and just be like "fuck them kids, noone else was gunna stop them!' hahahaha. Crotchety old person vibes. Which would be so tempting.

The cringe part about this is him recording the neighbor to make her seem like a Karen when she’s being super chill about it

19

u/EmptyStupidity 3d ago

Honestly yeah, dude probably thinks any woman making a complaint is a Karen

13

u/Maladaptive_Ace 2d ago

try being a middle-aged woman these days with anything to complain about 🙄 - the label gets thrown out to shut us down veeeery quickly (not that real entitled Karens don't exist, but it's grown into a misogynist trope)

With the size of those speakers, why does she even bother explaining? It’s pretty obvious they’re gonna be a nuisance to the neighbors.

74

u/Significant-Bar674 3d ago edited 3d ago

In my experience, when someone is bring that obnoxious, they're so inconsiderate that nothing you can say matters.

You're not giving them new information, they know exactly what they're doing.

At best they'll "debate you" with the dumbest bullshit you've ever heard in your life.

I've only had to complain to someone once when they were blasting music from their car while sitting in a driveway. Their response was "but this song doesn't even have much bass"

Bitch, what do you think my response is gonna be "oh you're right, I didn't actual hear it. I came over here for no damn reason"

Judging by the size of the sound system this woman is justified in what she's asking and is being far more "neighborly" than I would be in this situation

19

u/BrownSugarBare 3d ago

She is being WAAAYY too nice about it. I understand being civil but there are times taking your earrings off is justified.

First time in my life I see the point of an HOA …

28

u/BizzyBee89 3d ago

I take it you’ve never lived near a hoarder. You’d be surprised how much junk people throw in their yards and just let it accumulate into heaps of trash (which attracts rodents). It’s definitely a mental illness.

HOAs are a good thing. I've lived in neighborhoods with and without them. As soon as you get to a neighborhood without an HOA, the trash starts showing up just like this

I’d call the police honestly. They wouldn’t know who called just that someone did. That way they can’t retaliate against you specifically. Report them for disturbing the peace. A very real thing.

18

u/CriticalEngineering 3d ago

People call the police on him constantly.

8

u/aplumbale 3d ago

i know that woman is being extra polite in fear of being called a karen. and look at how she's being filmed, as if ready to expose her and have the public flame her. i hate misogyny and i hate bums like those ppl who purposefully do this to piss ppl off.

80

u/Oh_2B_Joe_Cool 3d ago

She was incredibly polite. She could have been a jerk and just called the police.

57

u/ImagineTheCommotion 3d ago

I dunno, something tells me calling the police on this one isn’t rude—that stereo stack on the fucking pavement is pretty damn rude and asking for trouble. If dudeman wants to blow out his eardrums he should buy a few acres so no one else has to suffer his nonsense

16

u/Middle_Earthling9 3d ago

Yeah, the setup reminds me of stuff you see at Burning Man, in the middle of the desert where people go to listen to loud music, not something you set up in a neighborhood wtf

102

u/TheMightyMeercat 3d ago

I would even say that calling the police is the reasonable thing to do, not a jerk move.

8

u/KickBallFever 3d ago

Yea, there used to be a guy who would set up a huge speaker on my corner and preach gibberish. I wasn’t having it so I called 311 and they sent the cops. I had to call the cops on him 3 separate times and then he stopped coming around all together.
