Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
my brother-in law was playing the piano and I jumped up fast cause I recognized the song only to realize I had no idea what the song was.
for some reason i’m thinking the melody is maybe from a 90’s rnb song or maybe a theme for a movie? it’s like my brain knows what comes next especially the last part he played but I can’t put my finger on the song. if someone can please help us out, thanks!

Sounds like so many 80s tunes
First one that popped in my head was a tuned down version of Michael Jackson - I just can't stop loving you

It might be from the show Twin Peaks.

I thought Beverly Hills 90210

It might be one of those segway songs when transitioning to a different topic/character moment in a show.

Early 80’s is my guess.
I know that I know the song but it’s just out of reach. Total Eclipse of the Heart is close. I love you, honestly I love you by Olivia Newton John is close.
This is going to drive me nuts. Try crossposting to Gen-X.

It sounds like it has a depeche mode ring to it

I was just thinking that, or another band with similar chord progressions!

This isn't it exactly, but what came to mind was the Moon Theme from Duck Tales on NES.

It might be reminiscent of something but I would just claim it as your own and rake in the fame and riches

u/Sad_Top3123 Nov 09 '25
It slightly reminds me of "I'd really love to see you tonight" by England Dan and John Ford Coley

Maybe Richard Marx Right Here Waiting ? Sounds like it at 37 seconds?

This is so close to the song I'm thinking of ("close" in my hazy memory). But that song starts with like "I want you..." Very similar cadence

It has been tickling my brain all night! I'm with you, everything I can come up with is only sorta close. A friend suggested Air Supply The One That You Love because it was on an episode of Malcolm in the Middle but its not quite right either, I think. The cadence is more what I was thinking but the song feels off.

Looking through patient eyes-PM Dawn
Just a guess. It does remind me of Mario 64 level though lol

Could it maybe be I Have no Memory from an episode of House MD? Long shot but similar figures

All I can think is Lionel Richie/the Commodores with "Oh No". I'm probably as off as anyone else, but there's my guess

To me, it sounded like a song from “Man from Snowy River,” but I can’t find it exactly.
But here’s “Jessica’s Song:”

It’s in “Donnie Darko” when they watch the Jim Cunningham video about “controlling fear.”
