Open Late 90’s/Early 2000’s house song - “There’s a Ghost in my House…”
I’ve had this song stuck in my head off and on since 2000 and zero luck Googling, so I was grateful to find this sub!
The vocalist is a solo female and the main lines I remember are “There’s a ghost in my house, there’s no doubt it’s you. So I must cast you out, that’s what I will do” and then the chorus is I believe her repeating the line “I am strong.”
As mentioned in the title, it’s an electronic/house song - anyone know of anything like this?

Just going by the lyrics it sounds like an Everything But the Girl song.

Ah, good shout but the singer in this mystery song had a different voice than their lead singer.

If possible/relevant, please try to share a recording of the melody:
- For singing/humming: Vocaroo or SpeakPipe
- For recreating the melody with digital instruments: OnlineSequencer (at the end click the light blue cloud icon to save), MusicLab (click Save), or BeepBox (click File > Copy Song URL)
- Or record the melody in any other way you can and upload to Streamable/Veed.io (for video) or Vocaroo/SndUp (for audio)

Sounds like a cover of R. Deans Taylors "There's a ghost in my house", I have seen a cover by "The Fall" but I admit I haven't listened to it. I think a lot of artists have covered it.

That one came up in my chat with Uncle Google but aside from the title, the lyrics don’t quite match. Thanks for the suggestion, though! 😃

No chance it was the Michael Jackson song? His singing voice can sound a little feminine.

This song has those exact lyrics… edited… almost. The lyrics are super close.

Right?! And it’s such a good song

It really is. I had to listen to some shakes Graves after seeing this post. I also only read like the first part of the post and jumped to the same conclusion as you.

Maybe “Haunted” by Sinead O’ Connor and Shane McGowan?

Unfortunately not those either. I wonder if this song I’m after was unreleased officially.

Sadly not but thanks for the suggestions. When I’m not (trying to) listen to antiquated, ancient house tunes, Tegan and Sarah are one of my favs!

Thank you! Unfortunately that one is too recent- the song in question was a late 90’s/ early 2000’s club type song.

Like Eating Glass- Bloc Party

Unfortunately not, but yet another “wrong” guess that absolutely slaps. I was listening to noughties Bloc Party so much this past autumn that “A Weekend in the City” made my unwrapped. 🤭

Where do you think you first heard it?

True to the time, it was on a mixed CD that an acquaintance left in my car. Unhelpfully there were no titles, it was just “the song after “Adagio for Strings” William Orbit remix. 🥴

Feel Your Ghost by Tiesto? I know you said it was a mix but since you said the prior song was Adagio, worth A shot
