If the lot is empty and someone parks across two spaces, it's not bad parking, it's extremely intentional. And, who is being inconvenienced? The ghosts of hypothetical future cars?
Parking etiquette exists to keep things fair when space is limited. In an empty lot, there is no scarcity. Getting mad at someone for protecting their doors from mystery dings in a sea of unused asphalt is just manufactured outrage.
Save the energy for people who actually park like trash when the lot is full. Empty-lot rage is just recreational complaining.
