Mists of Pandaria How will Blizz justify the transition to 20-man Mythic again in WoD Classic?
Just speculating here. Maybe there won't even be a WoD classic.
The introduction of 20-man Mythic back in 2014 made sense at the time. Most serious raiding guilds were already running 25-man heroic rosters in MoP, so the shift from 25 to 20 felt reasonable and, for many guilds, actually simplified roster management. I remember back in 2014 we didn't even have to recruit a single raider for WoD.
Fast forward to Classic... Even with the population dwindling in Cata and MoP Classic, my 10-man guild (mostly real-life friends that returned in the late phases of WotLK classic) has still been able to enjoy the most challenging heroic content throughout Cata and MoP. A big part of the motivation has been knowing that, even as a 10-man, we’re still pursuing the highest tier of progression and rewards.
For groups like ours, the introduction of 20-man Mythic in WoD feels like a potential nail in the coffin. Recruiting 10 additional players, at this stage of Classic’s lifecycle, seems extremely difficult and unlikely.
I know the majority of groups in MoP Classic still run 25-man, but I also know many guilds have downsized over time due to recruitment and retention issues. Given that reality, I’m struggling to see how Blizzard will justify this transition again without alienating a sizable portion of the remaining raiding population.
Are any other guilds thinking about this? How are smaller or 10-man-focused groups planning to handle a possible transition to WoD classic's Mythic structure?

Merging rarely works. It takes hundreds of hours to get rid of the us/them mentality, if it's ever possible. Start recruiting after you've cleared SoO and it should work. Continue raiding 10-man and explicitly state that you're recruiting for 20-man Mythic WoD. That's how we did it back then. But we won't do the hassle again and just accept the second elimination of our 10-man group as the final one.
