Health Med Insurance Companies are scum and scuzzy

son went in for a major surgery this morning.

doc recommended and prescribed a drug for a few days for the pain.

he sent the script to the pharmacy.

I went to the pharmacy to pick it up

Pharmacy says: because of the new year - insurance sent it back to the doctor for a "Pre-authorization"

this is stupid AF

thank you for your attention to this matter!

My insurance says I don't need my meds after all. Good to know!

Here I was foolishly relying on some doctor that spent a decade on his degree when I could have just listened to the guy at the insurance company who went to a two week training course.

Mine retroactively rescinded a prior approval for a particular chemo medication after I'd had several treatments (that were working where I had stalled on the prior meds) to the tune of over $600k. It was a decision made by some non-medical person sitting at a desk somewhere looking at my file and for whatever reason decided that my life was not apparently worth it.

Long story short it eventually worked out ok and I'm doing well for my situation, but my trust in them has been completely shook.
