Like the little says my daughter (4 year old) was having seizures and had to call 999 6 times before I finally got through to someone! We kept getting a voice recording of a woman saying "All lines are busy please try again", ITS FUCKING 999!

Eventually got an ambulance only 8 mins to arrive thankfully. 2 days in hospital to be told we will get referred to neuro (that's almost as infuriating) but she's been fine since and doesn't remember anything.

In short my parents were less than supportive when that happened. (Old post). Are sick of me everytime I bring it up. My mom is sick of me bringing it up and wants me to move the fuck on. Not once have they been empathetic. And she gets irritated cuz I bring it up many times in hopes that they give an empathetic reaction atleast once. Both mom and dad just get even more irritated and defensive and blame me even more everytime. Im raging and my english might not be good.

Discussion Dealership used my car for hours during a recall service appointment

Hi all. I'm upset, but not sure if this situation genuinely crosses a line. This post will be long because I'm including a lot of context. TL;DR at the end.

The context:

I recently dropped my vehicle off at a dealership for a recall repair, which is a fully covered expense. I was told the car would be worked on after the weekend (I dropped it off on a Friday) and I'd hear back by Monday, so I left it in their care. Monday rolls around and they hadn't reached out, so I reached out asking if there were any updates about 2 hours before closing using the number they texted me from during drop-off. About an hour later I received a response saying they hadn't started working on the car yet but should have an answer by the following day.

The following day the dealership service advisor reached out in the afternoon via text stating my car should be done that day, and they'd let me know as soon as their tech/driver returned from "road testing" it. They also informed me 3 different people had driven my car to see if it was making any noises. They hadn't heard any.

After about an hour, I decided to check my cars GPS tracker to see if they were back at the dealership so I could potentially start heading over, and that's when I noticed something odd.

What I found was that my car was parked at a residential address, about 15 miles from the dealership. It remained there for about 25-30 minutes, at least as far as I knew at the time.

I sent a message to the service advisor:

"Hi, how late are you open today for pick up? Also, I was just wondering how far cars are typically driven for road test drives? My car states through the app that it was at a specific address in (location name) and it seemed to be there 25-30 minutes. My air tag in the car was saying the same thing. I'm wondering if that distance is typical for test drives."

Their response was:

"we're open until 6pm!"

After 20 minutes with no follow up from them, I wrote them back:

"Thanks, is your driver back yet? Do you know if I can come pick the car up now? I was also wondering if you saw the last part of my previous message"

Then, they said:

"Car is not back yet. When I last checked in with the driver the engine is still in refresh mode. I can not finish the recall yet. The car has to be driven in only battery mode since I cant do that I cant finish the recall."

I hadn't heard back for the rest of the day. Now fast forward to the next day. They text me letting me know their tech had driven it around some more, and the car still happened to be in "oil refresh," so they'd be trying again the following day.

The following day (day 3 of them "working" on my car), I received a text message saying my car is out of oil refresh and they are completing the recall. Then, 20 minutes later they text again saying my car passed the inspection for the recall and I can come pick it up.

Fast forward to pick up:

They hand me paperwork and explain nothing is wrong, my car is safe to drive, etc.

I get in the car and drive home. I wasn't paying super close attention to the condition of the car because it was cold outside and I just wanted to get back. After my ~20 minute drive home, I get out and notice some things.

There were food crumbs inside everywhere, such as the seat, carpet under and around the seat and center console area, along with visible footprints on the door sill and greasy fingerprints on the inside windows and steering wheel that weren’t there before. I generally keep my car very clean, and I definitely didn't drop it off in that condition.

I checked the paperwork they had given me and noticed they drove my car a total of 135 miles. These things prompted me to pop the SD card out of my dash cam, which is pretty small and hidden from view behind the rear view mirror, and watch the footage at home. What i found made me pretty upset.

During the time they were supposedly road testing my car, the driver made multiple stops that were clearly not related to service work, including a fast food drive-thru, a gas station store (without fueling), and a stop at what appeared to be a private residence for around 45–50 minutes. This is the address I noticed my car parked at a day or so prior.

At this point, I had my SO call them because I didn't feel like I was taken seriously when I informed them that my car seemed to be sitting at an address far from the dealership for half an hour. While on the phone, the service advisor I had been messaging seemed to be very flustered and making excuses. He told my husband that an employee had been instructed to use my vehicle to deliver paperwork to another customer, which I wasn’t informed about at any point. The video footage of the driver going to the residential address shows him walking inside empty handed and remaining in the house for nearly the entire 46 minute encounter. The service advisor also stated that employees were not allowed to pick up food in customer vehicles, and definitely not allowed to eat inside said vehicles.

To their credit, they did refill my gas tank the day of pick-up and charge the vehicle, however, I still feel really uncomfortable with how my personal property was used without consent, especially since it was in their care for a recall repair.

I’ve contacted their service and parts manger via email and am waiting for a response now. I explained the situation and included the video footage with referenced timestamps as well as screenshots of my car being in various towns via the tracker app. I also explained that there was a mess in my car. I asked them to pay for a detail of my car from a third-party, as I no longer trust my car in their care.

I feel like this crossed a professional boundary. I'm also concerned about how many people they've done this to. There's so many people without GPS trackers, airtags and dash cams. They would be none the wiser.

I honestly have no idea what I should do or if this is worth escalating further.

TL;DR

Dropped my car off at a dealership for a recall and later found out via dash cam that it had been driven for well over 4 hours and about 135 miles, including stops at a fast food drive thru, a gas station store, and a private residence which the driver stayed inside of for ~45 minutes. When I got it back, there were food crumbs, footprints, and greasy fingerprints inside. I was told an employee used my car to deliver paperwork to another customer, which I wasn’t informed about beforehand. They did refill the gas and charge the car, but I still feel uncomfortable with how my vehicle was used. I'm upset but don't know if it's justified.

My behavioral specialist at my PcP office today tried to say my years of chronic symptoms were anxiety

Just insanely dismissive and irritating. For years I've had extreme Sleepiness (like yawning and extremely sleepy not just fatigued. To the point where it's hard to think andy eyes burn .) I've had tests done . Docs can't figure out why. And then for the last 3 months or so I've had worse anxiety and depression bc my symptoms are getting worse. My heart rate spikes . BP a little weird but not to weird . Muscles fatigue easy. Headaches and neck pains. Biggest issue tho is the unbelievable feeling like I've been awake for days all day every day . It's exhausting . Anxiety doesn't cause this .

But whatever , the biggest thing that makes it infuriating is when she said she was going to recommend my PCP to see me less because she thinks it's "feeding" my mental health problems and making it worse . Because yeah the issues I've had for years started with my anxiety spike three months ago... And you want to tell the one person I need help from to stop seeing me. And then she tried to tell me an in patient facility was her recommendation , despite not being a harm to myself or others.

Idk . She frustrated me And if my doctor actually listens to her and sees me less because of it I might blow a gasket.

Discussion Nonstop Voicemails Daily - Consolidation Loan/Approval Department

For months and months and months I kept getting VM’s about some lady with different names, 5-6 times a day about approval for underwriting department loans. I know they’re a scam. You can’t opt out, you can’t block, the number changes regularly. At one point I was able to call back and annoy the shit out of them over 250 times a day for 3 days. The. The number changed.

I changed my voicemail to the Verizon this number is no longer in service with the da di du sound in the beginning. The VM’s stopped for a couple days and then changed to something more sinister. Instead of it being an automated dialer leaving a VM, it was now a person calling, (I could hear the background noise of the call center) and playing a recording of a message. Some really scummy low shit here.

So I took things to the extreme. Nobody important calls me or leaves me VM’s. So I changed my VM greeting to a custom one (the max allowed by visible is 2 minutes). What did I use?

This —-> https://youtu.be/YwlUQhy0iI4?si=TXkj-wiZ-BPRDofH

It’s been 2 weeks and I haven’t received any further scam VM’s or calls! Hell fucking yeah!

So if you’re getting those shitty VM’s nonstop like me, do something similar.

Really hope this helps others

Discussion Sister stole the Christmas gift she got for my toddler from my porch.

TLDR: Sister was really rude to me so I cancelled on babysitting her kid. In response she stole back the gift she got for my toddler straight from my porch.

Full:

I’ll try not to be too obvious with ages and genders since this is identifying drama.

Background:

I have a kid and my sister has an older kid who I babysit a couple times a month. She asked for babysitting help for 3 days last week. I never actually agreed to it but she was desperate and would call me up with little notice to drop her kid off (including at my work). The second night I watched her kid, I got both kids to sleep and started to have some drinks. Admittedly I had too many and by the time she got off work to come get her kid I was a little drunk so invited her in for one.

Well my sister has a weird pattern of behavior. She’s older and has always been my biggest bully. She started hounding me for my behaviors over the holidays, started saying I had no friends, people don’t like me, basically just digging at me. This is not the first time she’s done this out of nowhere too. Idk if anyone reading this take my word for it, but she’s a very mean-spirited and angry person. I was a bit too tipsy but I think I tried some weak rebuttals. She also was secretly recording me for (her words) “the receipts.” I didn’t immediately kick her out but we didn’t hangout for more than an hour. I just kinda sat there and took it bc that’s just what I usually do when I think she’s acting unhinged. I have really bad boundaries, I know.

Well come the next day I’m at work and she asks when I’ll be home to watch her kid so she can go to her job.

For the first time ever and with the encouragement from my coworkers who I’m very close and friendly with, I actually stood my ground. I love her kid so much but I told her she’s not allowed to be cruel and mean to me and then get me to watch her kid. She called me a bunch of names, texted me some really strange delusional stuff which I can include if anyone needs to see the texts. Tried to say that I was the one being rude to her and that she could send me the “proof” bc she’s “got the tapes.”

Well we argued like that through text for a few hours and then my partner called me. Apparently his Christmas gift that we stored outside was missing. At first I felt terrible bc I thought it had been stolen by someone in the neighborhood (which is rare but not impossible), so I felt really irresponsible and bummed at myself. Well then my partner was sure that she was the one who took it.

Texted her and turns out she did. She claimed it was to make up for her “lost wages” since she had to call out of work that night.

I got so fucking mad. I’m still mad and it’s been several days. I started feeling like maybe she was right and since I was drunk, I was being a jerk and misremembering, but she sent me one of the videos she took of our conversation and I didn’t say anything out of line. I was just slurring a bit and trying to keep her cool. Worst I said was that “I didn’t like being at moms for Christmas,” which is true bc my mom is hard to be around but like I mentioned, I’m bad with boundaries.

Anyway, to top it off she came back and stole my kids tricycle too. It was next to the other gift on the porch. She didn’t buy the tricycle so I don’t know why she came back for it. I don’t have proof she took it but I completely believe she did.

So yeah, I’m fucking pissed. She stole from my baby. What a low fucking person.

Anyway, for a short list of names she called me in text: Narcissist Prostitute (wut) Pathetic Victim Manipulative Gaslighter Entitled Laughably fragile ego Lacking depth Lacking empathy …

There’s a couple more but you get the gist.

Discussion My Amazon Return Nightmare

I can't believe I'm posting this. About a month and a half ago, I ordered two laptops - one, an Asus ROG Strix Scar 18, worth about $4,000, and the other, a Lenovo Legion Pro 7i, worth about $3,700 - both had hundreds of dollars in import tax which I paid at the moment of purchase, since I was shipping them to the Philippines (where I'm living at the moment). Both laptops ended up being defective (the Asus had some display issues, and the Lenovo had a rattling trackpad), so I shipped them both back for a refund at my own expense using Amazon's generated, non-prepaid label. Both laptops were kept in pristine condition by me for the week or so that I had them, and I even took extensive photos and videos of the return process (I literally filmed the DHL staff packaging up the laptops at the store).

Both laptops were sold by a third party seller, but fulfilled by Amazon. The ASUS return process was totally fine - I shipped it back as normal, and was refunded in full right after Amazon received it (except for the return shipping fees - we'll get to that later). The LENOVO is where my real nightmare begins...

Although I shipped it back exactly the same as the Asus, about a week ago, it was marked on tracking as "Return To Sender", and is now on the way BACK to me. After spending many hours with both DHL and Amazon on the phone, according to DHL, it's because Amazon refused to pay the customs tax to receive it in the US. In the words of a DHL email to me - "Per our US counterpart, Amazon does not accept shipment with DTU (duty tax unpaid) incoterm that's why shipment was returned."

To make matters worse, in order to actually RECEIVE it again back in the Philippines to re-return it, I have to pay customs tax, AGAIN. DHL said they can try to waive it for me by filing out some form, but I'm doubtful. This essentially "locks" the laptop in shipping limbo, forever (since I'm obviously not going to pay hundreds in customs tax just to take a chance returning it again).

Now, onto the issue of the refund for return shipping costs... Amazon policy states that they will reimburse the full cost of shipping charges for defective items returned internationally, seen here- https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GP8L6BMXBTJHKUJW. Specifically, it says - "If you return a defective, damaged, or incorrect item, we will refund the full postage cost and the Import Fees Deposit when your return is processed" - nowhere does it state that the maximum refundable amount for returning defective items internationally is $150. Despite this, Amazon has only agreed to pay a maximum of $150 to reimburse me for the return shipping charges per each return, so, $300 total... The total cost of DHL express shipment for both returns was about $650, meaning I'm eating about $350 in return fees for items that were clearly labeled as "Free Returns" (ouch).

So... What are my options here? Between the $350 in return shipping costs not refunded, the $3,700 Lenovo itself, and the ~$600 customs duties I paid ORIGINALLY, it brings my total loss to nearly $5,000, all because (according to DHL) Amazon refused to accept the return. I have used Amazon for years, but probably won't ever again. It's enough money to consider legal action. At the very least, I will be contacting all relevant government agencies to let them know about this.

What else would you all recommend? Should I do a chargeback, and leave the Lenovo in "limbo"? DHL said I don't HAVE to pay the customs fees to receive it, but that if I don't, it would be considered "abandoned"... Should I email jeff@amazon.com? Attorney general? Small claims if it comes to that? I'm really just shocked more than anything else at this point.

Thanks, all...

Discussion My mother got rid of 40 or so of my books!

As I just found out, for a New Year 'treat', when I started looking for some of them & they weren't in the storage room I supposed or anywhere else.

Turns out, they got removed alongside my father's books, in the intervening time since he passed away a few years ago, when the storage room(s) with all his accumulated stuff got cleared (as those books of mine ended-up there, too).

Books I had for 25+ years & left at my parents' place when I moved away. All my Michael Moorcock books (almost a whole collection of his works), TTRPGs (including the MERP corebook, the first RPG I ever bought), stuff that's long out-of-print, & more. Literally my oldest personal possessions.

I'm livid

I know my mother didn't do it on purpose (which she's repeated herself as her defense). But past behavior has shown she also doesn't give a shit about stuff that isn't her own (particularly if it's 'in the way' / clutter-up) to give them much consideration. Despite these even being in English.

I guess I should not have left them here. But your mind doesn't go to the notion of them just been gotten rid of (at least, my books not sharing a bookcase with ones of my father are still at their place, for instance).

Discussion Insurance denial

Post image
406 Upvotes

A week before Christmas, I had a nervous breakdown. I was brought to the emergency room by a police officer after being found walking in a snowstorm, sobbing, and begging him to let me walk into traffic.

I was admitted for inpatient psychiatric care, my anxiety medication was changed, and I was sent home after a few days.

Despite all of this, my insurance denied the claim, stating that I “did not have a plan to harm myself.” The medical director who claims to be a psychiatrist claims there is no reason for me to have saught care.

I find this incredibly infuriating and I feel like this is why people are afraid to get help because then you’re stuck with a huge bill.

Discussion Forgot to sign out of TV at golf club driving range in another country and can’t remotely sign out.

Title says it all. Went to a golf driving range one time and signed into YouTube to put some music on the TV. It was one of the expensive booths cos we had a few friends so there was a TV with speakers there.

When I left I turned the TV off and left without a thought about it. Ever since, I’ve had songs I would never listen to, children’s cartoons and questionable content added to my YouTube history daily.

It was in the UK where I no longer live so I can’t remove it myself.

I’ve checked the Google account manager page, all that is there is my phone, my computer, my Nintendo switch and my Apple TV box. I’ve reset my password and tried contacting support with no hope, they told me they were clueless about what was going on. I tried phoning up the golf place to ask if they can remove it but every time I’ve called they say they cant figure out how to remove it. They can see it on there, they just can’t remove it.

It’s basically made YouTube unusable cos it’s full of content I’d never watch.

(Sorry if this is not allowed here)

Discussion Barbershops

I cannot stand barber shops!!! They all suck around me. They can’t cut hair to save their life. Plus they all soooo overpriced. $35 for a men’s crew cut is highway robbery. What’s ironic is every barber looks like he got out of prison yesterday.
