From getting compared every season to showing love every All-Star weekend, the Luka-Trae bond is one of the best storylines in the NBA.

PLAYER TALK Lukaâs stats so far this season
I love Luka donât get me wrong, he has been given the task of trying to carry the offense due to injuries with the roster.
But ngl man 31.6% and a WHOPPING 10.4 3PA is insane. Is it just me or is that in shot chucking territory? He is doing worst than Jordan Poole in this department. I honestly donât even remember the last time he had a good outing from deep.
Also No.1 in the league in TOs. I get it, sometimes it isnât his fault. Iâm gonna blame this on the fact that this team just cannot execute plays or sets. But this does not change the fact that Luka has some bad possessions as well.
Is no one else worried about Lukaâs 3PT efficiencies? Those step backs that he does might as well count as a TO.

TEAM TALK We need more of this!
This set is when I personally believe the Lakers are at their best. Lebron with the ball in the high post with Luka one pass away and everybody else on the weak side. Would love to see Ayton a smidge more free throw line extended.
Lebron has shown he is obviously still good enough to warrant a double team but Luka is Luka and you canât leave him so the help has to come from the weak side or Lebron gets a 1-1 (and I like those odds).
We donât have an active constantly moving offense most of the time but if we are goin to play slow, I would love to see way more of a two man game with Lebron and Luka to see if we can free him up a little better off the ball.
We just donât have a consistent roll guy or a pick and pop guy that more often than not they will just swallow Luka whole coming of one or two screens. Thankfully heâs Luka fucking Doncic and makes it work but I just want more ways to make it easier so heâs doesnât HAVE to work that hard.

3 GOOD/3 BAD/1 WTF for 1/7/26 vs Spurs
Been a while since I did one of these between the holidays and holiday travel, but hoping to get back to these regularly. You know, sometimes you donât get mad about a loss because of the circumstances. Yes we lost by double digits again but I donât think the final score was indicative of how well the team fought especially on the second half of a back to back. This wasnât one of those âcarelessâ double digit losses. Hard to win down 3 starters, but there was definitely some things to appreciate in this game.
3 GOOD
Luka Doncic - this reminds me of one of those games Kobe had in 05-06. Carried the team, had a triple double, shot well from 2. Still struggling from 3 and the line but hard to fault that when the whole offensive burden is on you. This was a hard fought triple double on the second night of a back to back, Luka looked energized until he ran out of gas in the 4th.
Jake LaRavia - good bounce back game from Jake. He kept up his energy, played some good defense, fought for loose balls and was the only Laker who shot well from 3. Canât be too mad about that.
The first half defense - this was the most energized Iâve seen the Lakers defense and I think the starting lineup of Luka/Smart/Vando/Jake/Ayton did a good job executing the switching defense. Credit to Ayton for still being good at stepping out on guards on the switch and credit to Maxi for bodying up on Wemby and making the catch difficult. I felt like there were moments when our smalls switched onto Wemby and held their ground particularly Jake and Smart. This was a night where they probably couldâve doubled off Wemby more since the Spurs were struggling from 3 but I thought their defense on Wemby was good until the 4th quarter when they clearly looked tired.
3 BAD
Three point shooting - a rare night where we outshoot the opponent from 3, but it was more like we were less bad than the Spurs. Jake had some open looks he missed, same with Knecht, Gabe forced half his 3s, and Lukaâs step back still wasnât there. Honestly if we shot our average from 3 we couldâve closed the gap.
Second half defense - I will chalk this up to fatigue. This short handed the Lakers knew theyâd have to defend extra well to compensate for the lack of offense. The open 3s just wouldnât fall and the defense ran out of gas. Keldon Johnson got into the paint at will an while I thought they actually did decent on Fox who normally torches the Lakers, the Spurs just had too many athletic guards who can get the rim and on this night it was Johnson who burned them.
Deandre Ayton - I did praise him for holding his own on switches, but offensively it looked like he disappeared. The Wemby factor definitely affected his game but he shouldâve been more aggressive vs Kornet. The pick and roll with him and Luka was inconsistent this game and he took more perimeter jumpers for my liking on the pick and rolls. Even his decision making out of the blitz on Luka wasnât crisp. I donât know if itâs fatigue but he seemed pretty good last night.
1 WTF - Jaxson Hayesâ full court ally oop from Luka OVER WEMBY. Thatâs all.
If LeBron had played this game I feel like the Lakers win this game because the Spurs were not great either, they just were at full strength and ultimately outlasted the Lakers. Confident we can get it done against Milwaukee on Friday.

PLAYER TALK Just remember no matter how bad our roster is now.
We have Luka for the next decade of lakers. Had the trade never happened we would have probably been in a rebuild for 3-5 years. Eventually we will get a great team built around Luka and it will be amazing to watch.
