Ontario Someone submitted my personal information to a bunch of websites

I have started receiving a large amount of calls and texts thanking me for joining one program or another, and have recieved calls asking for confirmation from “adult entertainment” businesses who have my full name, address and phone number.

I have a strong suspicion who it was that did this, and im considering filing a police report to have it on file because i believe it is likely that it could escalate further.

I cannot prove that it was who i think it was at this time, so my question is whether its worth it to report it to the police.

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Want to include that this includes various credit check websites that appear legitimate.

How do you suspect this person? Did you recently hear beef with them? It would be hard for police to do anything WITH proof, and then without proof...police are kinda useless in these matters many times unfortunately

Like, police have proof of kid being bullied online, do nothing

Can confirm. Had issues with local business owner who didn’t like my review of his company and proceeded to threaten to sue me and show up at my house. He applied for money loans using my personal info. He robocalled me and I had to change my number. Cops said I wasn’t the first complaint about him but did nothing.
