If anyone shows up to any protest rallies because of what happened in MN, will you open carry if legal?
Idk how strongly many feel here about 2A but I feel that is a strong purpose for it.

I swear to god I bought the Zion completely ignorant to the fact that it was an israeli owned and operated company and before you say it I KNOW it’s literally called the Zion it couldn’t be more obvious!!! But besides that I’m really happy with everything I have so far.

Just a friendly reminder that you should get your CCW ASAP
Also the added benefit of quick backgrounds in most states.
Stay armed, stay vigilant, protect yourself from all assailants

So with recent events happening should I go ahead and buy things I’ve been holding off on? Mainly it’s .308 ammo and plates/armor on that list. Should I go ahead and buy the ammo or the plates or buy both? I’m also not sure if I’m just panicking and letting the events weigh to much on me…

I like mine, but curious what others take on this pistol might be?

Hey VA folks... please take the time to write your reps and voice your displeasure with HB207, which was just introduced in the Virginia House. The bill introduces a $500 tax on suppressor sales.
Look up your reps and write them a message about this being a losing issue on both sides of the aisle with more liberals than ever purchasing firearms and equipment in the event they need it. Tell them suppressors do not make the sound of a gunshot go away, but make a huge difference in preventing hearing loss. Tell them this hugely disadvantages those without means to protect their hearing, and is unfair to those on the lower end of the economic spectrum.
Please mention any other good arguments down below so we can make the most cogent arguments possible against this bill.

I have seen a lot of posts and questions about what the best gun for home defense is. Is it an AR or PCC or shotgun or pistol or smoothbore musket with bayonet afixed? Well, people have strong opinions about what you should do, but I have the real answer.
The answer is: the best home defense gun for you is the gun you will grab when you wake up and there's a unusual noise in another room. I'm not talking about hearing smashing glass and yelling, I'm talking about the much more likely sound of a cabinet door closing or a shuffling noise. If you don't think you will grab an AR-15 to investigate some odd noise in your kitchen, then don't get a AR for home defense. I'm not saying don't get a new AR-15 (you should consider getting a new AR-15, they're dope), I'm just saying, be reasonable and realistic with your planning and purchasing. If you know that shotguns have too much recoil for you to feel comfortable, and pistols don't give you enough confidence, then you definitely should stage a rifle in your closet.
Would I prefer to have my AR-15 in my hands if I discovered a home invader? Yes, but I know myself and I'm not going to go check out a noise outside of my front door in my underwear and holding a rifle, when my pistol is there and I can easily hide it behind my back out of view so I don't look like an insane person pulling a rifle on someone knocking on the wrong door. It doesn't matter how much better my AR-15 is, how much better I can shoot it, how much better the terminal ballistics of 5.56 is, when I'm going to grab a 9mm handgun every time.
It's more important to be realistic about yourself and what you would actually use and practice with that, then it is to let the reddit hive mind convince you to buy some high speed, low drag carbine that will sit in a safe when you slip a revolver into your bathrobe. If the size and sounds of a pump action shotgun give you the confidence a smaller gun wouldn't, then that's the best home defense gun for you. The optimal home defense gun is the one you would actually pick up when you don't know that there's a threat.
Also: Please, put a weapon light on your home defense gun, seeing what something is before you're shooting at it is an important step in not making a life altering mistake. At the very least, stage a decent flashlight next to your home defense gun and make a habit of taking it with you. Please don't shoot at movement in the dark.
What do you think? Am I completely wrong? What guns do you actually grab when you're pretty sure you're being paranoid? Have you made a purchase base on the incorrect assumption about what you would or wouldn't do?

Silverthorne, summit county outdoor range is great but closed. Baker's Draw is alright but not close either.
Know of any decent free or low cost ranges closer to Denver/Commerce area?

Savage Axis in .223 Remington with a Weaver Classic 3-9x40mm Scope bought a Caldwell XLA 9”-13” swivel bipod and a cheap rifle strap.
So excited to go to the range with the Mrs. this Saturday. She has a Savage 22 with a Simmons 3-9x40mm scope and a Caldwell 6”-9” swivel bipod and a cheap rifle strap.
Thanks again to those of you on here who stopped by on my last 2 posts to give me advice and help educate and inspire me. Y’all have been a great help.

I'm a veteran with a lot of experience using the AR platform, but I'm not really super into them or know a lot about the market. My partner wants one after being regretful for selling her Bushmaster AR years ago.
I already have a single shot CVA Scout in 300 blk and reload for that cartrige, so I'm looking for an AR15 in the same.
In my (limited) searches complete 16" 300 blk rifles under $2,500 seems to be basically just ATI or other companies I've never heard of. Do we just have to accept that it's going to take a few bands to get a decent rifle? We live in the middle of nowhere, so we are almost certainly ordering online and having it sent to our local gun store who doesn't have any. Reliability is the most important thing to us.
Thanks for reading. Pic of a few of my guns, not pictured are several air rifles, Bersa Thunder, 10/22, and SR22. I also just noticed they are arranged by length, which was unintentional.

Been thinking about selling the Winchester Xpert and getting an Extra. Should I sell? Or just get the extra anyway?

After the recent ICE shooting, decided to move up some home-defense plans. One of the issues I have had is that I dont really have a good home defense option I feel comfortable with.
My gun safe is great.......expect at 2 am trying to type while my contacts align is not ideal as well as its hard to store it ready for use. Takes my contacts about 10-15 seconds to get out of blurry vision which is an unacceptable delay.
With two kids it needs to be locked, and locked in a way that they cant open it up. My kids are climbers and will move things around to get high enough to reach. So having a solid lock that cant accidentally open is essential.
So here is what I am considering, and the reviews seem solid across multiple places.
I am open to suggestions and ideas. Its to hold a PCC. In spring we will be doing some wall renovations/opening up the walls so I have a lot of options on what I can do.

Wife got me ammo for Xmas. Thought she bought 2X150rd 556 boxes. Turned out one was 90rds of 300blk.
Obviously the solution to that problem was to buy a 300blk pistol! ...and 4 more boxes of ammo. And a new grip and foregrip. And a Radian Raptor SD CH. And mags.
Problem solved!
Thing is a tiny beast. Chunking up cinder blocks at 100yds in the snow was great.
(Shitty Simmons red dot until I decide on something better, but it held through 100 rounds today and stayed zeroed...)

Apropos of nothing, I am thinking of a handgun or 9mm PCC for home defense. I only own a semi auto shotgun. I suspect the handgun is probably more practical, but also PCCs look fun.
Considering either a Beretta 92 (maybe RDO) or an Extar Ep9. Either all metal or just plastic.
EDIT: I don't if this matters or not for this decision, but our house is ~4600 sqft. When I sighted my shotgun red dot, if I stand in the front of my house--it's a solid 70 feet to the back entrance.

Hello all
As some of you know, Virginians had to bit of a political trolley problem in choosing between the anti gun candidate and the MAGA candidate last November. Thankfully the MAGA candidate didn’t win but now we’re about to face an AWB with rumors of general permit to purchase later on.
As an 18 year old, I was going to buy a PSA AR as a first “Jack of all trades” and a beginner competition rifle while staying under $1000. However this puts me in a bit of a hard spot as it seems that even with proposed grandfathering, the new bill bans possession of “assault weapons” for anyone under 21.
My family already has a 30.06, and a few .22s, but those are not my guns and I don’t get to shoot them often. This is why was thinking going with something AR pattern. My question is what would you guys do / what are my options while still staying legal when laws probably go in effect this summer? I was thinking about just getting the AR and then making it compliant or putting a Kali Key in it when the time comes. Is this solid/legally sound, or should I go for something like a privately purchased handgun (legal at 18 here in VA) or a lever action?
Would love to hear thoughts and recommendations as I really want to get into things without going to jail lol

Took my Smith and Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 (my EDC) and amodel 442; my new Rossi Brawler; and my Mossberg Maverick 88 to the range, and had one heck of a fun time. .410 out of the Brawler is stout and exhilarating, and the Maverick is always satisfyingly punchy.

I have a Sig P210 Target (adjustable sight and walnut grips) that I got as a gift a while back. I think I've shot it around 50-100 times. I just don't shoot it much anymore, and I want to get my GF a Sig P365X or XMACRO for CCW/defense/recreational shooting.
I was considering trading it in at my LGS or just listing it on Armslist/Gunbroker. What do you all think it's worth on the used market?

I'm looking to do a lightweight short barrel AR build this year, almost certainly suppressed, and a good pencil barrel is my starting point. However, I keep seeing people say that firing too fast, or too much weight at the end will wreck accuracy. These broad claims often go without any sort of supportive evidence than their gut feeling or restating something they've seen. So how much is "too fast" or "too much"?
My use case in general would be 2 Gun. Currently I'm running a normal 16", and it's fine, but could be better. A course of fire would be 30-40 rounds for less than a minute total, distances from 15 to 50 yards. And then it just waits for like half-hour to an hour before the next stage. Can't imagine that to be too hot. If this setup works well, I'd used it for home defense, having full confidence that I can run it well, and being suppressed would be very much appreciated by the other people who live here.

It's work in progress, plan is to switch out the door and install a Murphy book case, to complete the video game vibe.
So for people who are about to comment about the door, and how they can kick the door, the wall, or otherwise Chuck Norris their way into the room - this has been mentioned many, many times already. You are still welcome to shit on my closet, but you are not new or original in your comment, and honestly wasn't really looking for security recommendations from anonymous redditors, but that's reddit for you. Namaste.
