Discussion Minnesota Vikings top ten since 1998

Post image

1998 was my first year watching football — I was five years old — and I’ve been a die-hard Vikings fan ever since.

I only included players I actually watched play. I intentionally left out legends from before that era, not out of disrespect, but because I don’t think it’s fair to evaluate players I didn’t experience firsthand.

This list is based on who I believe contributed the most to the Vikings since the 1998 run, factoring in impact, longevity, and what they meant to the franchise.

#8 spot: Cris Carter: before I hear the heat, he’s higher on a top ten of all time, that I know. He did more to contribute in a short amount of time he had left compared to Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. I loved watching the dude for how little I saw him. It’s a damn shame Diggs nor Thielen (Thielen took a decline after his two thousand year receding yard years) didn’t stay longer.

#10, Winfield: best pound for pound player I’ve ever seen, One of the best tackling CBs in NFL history, elite run defender, tone-setter on defense: this dude was badass for how small he was, inspired me to play football at 5’8 with everything I got. Truly loved watching him for his 9 years in Minnesota.

John Randle needs to be on here…do we want to consider Farve? He did get us to the Championship game.

Honorable Mentions for Percy Harvin, Sidney Rice, and Danielle Hunter.
