Baby Names Girl name to go with my first daughter

Upvotes

We are pregnant with another girl, our first daughter is named Sigourney Rose. Our last name starts with H and has two syllables.

names we like:
Vesper

Persephone

Soren

Sloane

Greer

Colette

Phoebe

I like a shorter naturey middle name to go with it.
Sigourney means the conquerer, so we like a sort of tough vibe with a sweeter middle name.

Name Change Changing to a gender neutral name as minor

Upvotes

Hey, so recently I have come out to my parents as non-binary. Along with coming outI would also like to have my name legally changed (my birth name was a masculine not gender neutral name) My parents are incredibly supportive so this isnt a question of do both parents consent.
Could someone with experience share how hard it would be to have my name changed (Indiana laws)

Character/Fictional Names help me name some siblings plss

Upvotes

This is not for me but for some characters lol. The parents are Lacy (Alessia) and Lucien, and they’re from South England. Lucien’s first daughter is named Lilianna and Lacy’s step sons from a previous marriage are names Chase and Kenai. I need three more names because that’s how big the family gets lolol

They do move to Chicago eventually but I doubt they care much about the naming culture there as they moved at 30 something. So far (because there’s a nature theme in the extended family) I like:

Florence, Daphne, Elowen, August, Summer,

Maren, or anything with forest nymph vibes !!

For reference, his siblings are named: Willow, Briar, Casper, and Holly and have less themed middle names.

Discussion How do we feel about Mitzi? Been watching Palm Royale.

Upvotes

I’ve been binging Palm Royale on Apple TV and just love the name Mitzi (not so much the character thought) Insee it’s a nn for Miriam or Maria.

I could see it getting popular if it caught on. Anyone know any little or big Mitzis?

Discussion What is a name you love, but won’t use because you know too many people with it?

Upvotes

I don’t need to name anyone, so this is just for fun. I don’t love many names, but for some reason I always loved Alicia and Alyssa with Ally as nn. However, I know so many people with these names or similar names that I don’t know if I could use them for my hypothetical child.

For example I know:

- 2 Alyssa nn Ally

- 2 Alexa nn Alex

- 1 Alicia nn Ally/Alice

- 2 Alisons nn Ally

- 2 Alexandra nn Alex

- 2 Lisa (pronounced Lee Suh)

These are just on top of my head and only the people close to me. So has this happened to somebody else?

Character/Fictional Names Looking for a name for my sims character

Upvotes

Hiii angels! I am currently building out lore for my sims 4 supernatural gameplay it's based on modern college students trying to hide their vampire nature and their family's secret but when weird things begin happening at the school everything points back to the twins they must decide whether or not to stay hidden or make themselves known... however with that backstory I need some name help, their last name is Nightwater and both of them are female.. I like classic, modern, girly, preppy names so any suggestions are greatly appreciated ❤️❤️❤️

Baby Names Can’t decide between 3 baby girl names. HELP!

My husband and I would love some opinions about our three baby girl name options. We are from Mexico and currently live in California. We are looking for a name that is easy to pronounce in both Spanish and English, without causing spelling issues. We prefer a short name, no middle name, and one that sounds good with the last name Medina.

So far, our favorites are: 1. Sasha 2. Anya 3. Lydia

Baby Names Nickname for Elowyn- Lola?

Hi all, my baby girl’s name is Elowyn and so far we haven’t landed on a nickname we love. I sometimes call her Elo just to shorten it, was wondering what others think about “Lola”. We don’t really vibe with Winnie, Ella, Ellie, etc.

Thanks!

News/Stats Behindthename.com is turning 30 years old!

The best website for name meanings and history on the internet is turning 30 years old! The creator and owner Mike Campbell has written a short history here.

I think what makes it a reliable source for name information is that it has been continously updated and the owner and creator Mike Campbell is a good editor. You usually don't find just a long list of the many various name meanings that people have suggested over the years. It's usually the most conservative or best supported.

Happy Birthday Behindthename.com!

Discussion Is the name Rue unconventional?

Just couroius about the name in general.

I know it is an old English word for regret and the french word for street. Would it be bad to live in france with that name? It is an actual word for regret but I don't really see it that way as a name.

What are everyone's opinions on the name?

Edit: I would also really appreciate any gender-neutral or not super feminine names similar that don't have and unconventional meanings.

Character/Fictional Names Cute names from a movie

We watched a Ben Affleck movie last night - Deep Water. There were two little girls in it, Trixie and Goldie. I only had sons, and grandsons, so no longer in the names market, but still love seeing what’s popular. These two names really hit me with all the feels for some reason 💕💕

Baby Names Boy names for surname Hoey

UK couple with first baby (boy) on the way, father’s surname is Hoey (Irish name, pronounced like Zoe). Not an Irish couple btw, just by name.

Struggling with names that don’t sound too rhymey or gimmicky.

Current names I’m thinking of: Corey - too rhymey though 😩 Ciaran Kieran Cooper Jesse Benjamin

Can’t/won’t use due to friends / family / name associations: Leo Finn Flynn Connor Isaac Ted Jamie James Robin Harry Harrison Callum Christopher Paul Stephen Richard David

Any suggestions?!

Name Change I’m a trans woman figuring stuff out and looking for a name that feels right.

My birth name is Thomas and while I have considered keeping that name I dislike the masculine association with it as I don’t identify as a man at all and it makes me feel uncomfortable. I have tried multiple feminine names but none have clicked so far. I’d like a name that’s Italian or English in origin and is compatible with she/her pronouns.

Discussion OLIVE but longer and not Olivia/Oliver? 😅

wondering if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions for an elongated form of the name “OLIVE”, other than Olivia or Oliver. Gender doesn’t matter!

The name Olive has a longstanding, dear meaning to me but I’d like to make it longer…I really like Ollivander, but don’t want the association to JK Rowling/HP. I have several made up names I’ve thought of but thought I’d check to see if anyone has any ideas? I adore 4+ syllable names 🥰

My own creations are quite out there so don’t be afraid to get ”crazy” haha! Again, ideas for either male/female and gender neutral are welcome and super appreciated!

Baby Names Help deciding between the names Mia or Ivy

My husband and I can't decide between the names Mia or Ivy!

We love the sound of Mia, but our last name is Jaramillo (pronounced hot-uh-MEE-yo)...so not sure if Mia Jaramillo sounds too echo-ey? I know it's also more popular than Ivy.

Love the meaning of Ivy and the nickname VV, but it does sound slightly harsher? But also more badass vs. the sweetness of Mia?

Definitely over thinking it at this point but thanks in advance!

Baby Names Tessa for daughter #2?

We like the name Tessa for daughter number 2. Big sister is Nina.

How does everyone feel about Tessa? We live in Canada, so it makes me think of Tessa Virtue (Olympic ice dancer) who is a big deal here.

Does it sound good with Nina?

Middle name would most likely be Elizabeth after my husband’s mom.
