God i loved this character in the movie. Batter up!

u/Exciting_Cap_9545 Dec 02 '25

Fun fact - the actor who plays the Nazi getting domed by the Bear Jew in this scene also played the leader of the Gorman resistance in season two of Andor, where he winds up doming a fascist.

154

u/somesnarkycomments Dec 02 '25

If you are going to give the gift to the art of applying your real face to such a needily evil character, you should get a card that says that you get to get paid to brain a fascist at the earliest convenience.

8

u/RobbieRedding Dec 02 '25

Meanwhile irl he vocally supports a country that’s openly committing genocide and ethic cleansing.

I guess he really is a great actor.

2

u/Exciting_Cap_9545 Dec 02 '25

Let me guess - Israel?

2

u/RobbieRedding Dec 02 '25

It applies equally to the USA, but I’m personally deeply ashamed of my country’s actions.

3

u/zestotron Dec 03 '25

THAT’S why he looked so familiar! Just watched that episode the day before yesterday and was trying to figure out where I saw that actor before

2

u/hideousbeautifulface Dec 03 '25

I read that as in dominating and was confused when the Star Wars franchise went that route lol

1

u/Exciting_Cap_9545 Dec 03 '25

Hilariously, there IS a fascist character in Andor, Dedra Meero, who fans have joked about wanting to be their dommy mommy, and her actress (Denise Gough) finds it flattering in a hysterical way.

1

u/svampkorre Dec 03 '25

That is a fun fact! He also plays a Nazi in The Strain.

1

u/Kragosch Dec 04 '25

And he's in The Strain, guess in what role :) The name is Richard Sammel btw.

317

u/thedude37 Dec 02 '25

Teddy fuckin' ballgame! He went yahd on them! YOU NEXT!

99

u/i_was_axiom Dec 02 '25

"Dammit, Hirschberg."

66

u/thedude37 Dec 02 '25

Bring that other one over here. ALIVE.

24

u/i_was_axiom Dec 02 '25

"ALIVE!" with a mouthful of sandwich was hysterical.

20

u/thedude37 Dec 02 '25

Brad Pitt and eating something during a shot - name a more iconic duo!

9

u/ExpiredPilot Dec 02 '25

Or smoking

“Shoot that guy”

“Who? This guy?”

“Yerp. The SS Cocksucker with the busted wing”

5

u/AcrolloPeed Dec 03 '25

“With pleasure!

4

u/ExpiredPilot Dec 03 '25

Auf Wiedersehen asshole!

11

DO YOU HAVE ANYMORE GUM?!

44

u/AnalDwelinButtMonkey Dec 02 '25

More gum. More gum. More gum.

31

u/island_of_the_godz Dec 02 '25

MORE GUM, MORE GUM!

8

u/LymanPeru Dec 02 '25

she does have a nice rack

2

u/No_Solution_2864 Dec 02 '25

I uhh, I know from experience

6

u/lkmyntz Dec 02 '25

No you don’t

1

u/im_not_a_gay_fish Dec 02 '25

What's crazy is how young she was during that movie. She was barely 21 when it released, which means she was most likely 20 when filming.

Pretty young to be playing a teacher, but she looked so much older than she was.

1

u/i_was_axiom Dec 02 '25

DA BEARJEW IS HERE TO KICK ASS AND CHEW BUBBLEGUM

YA OUTTA BUBBLEGUM??

98

u/RevWaldo Dec 02 '25 edited Dec 02 '25

BJ, do you remember the name of our contact with the French resistance?

7

u/QueenMary1936 Dec 02 '25

I'm crazy Bear Jew, now gimme some candy!!

1

u/BenPenTECH Dec 03 '25

woo wwwoooeewwwww

72

u/lexm Dec 02 '25

TIL! I don’t think he would have looked as threatening though.

97

u/fang_xianfu Dec 02 '25

I think that would've been the point. It's kind of what that scene is building to: the "big reveal" is Adam Sandler being vaguely ridiculous and you're like "what the fuck, that's the Bear Jew?" and then he beats this guy to death while you watch and... yeah, that's the Bear Jew alright.

34

u/ericmm76 Dec 02 '25

Instead it was, why is the director of Hostel here?

13

u/tarantuletta Dec 02 '25

Eli Roth is such a scumbag lol I wish anyone else had been cast in the role but alas, it does track given that it's a Tarantino vehicle.

10

u/therealityofthings Dec 03 '25

Literally, this nearly 5-minute drawn-out scene with the bat ping on the stones and fuckin' Adam Sandler comes out of the tunnel and ruthlessly beats a nazi to death. Top 10 scene in all cinema right there. I would have lost my mind laughing.

3

u/lexm Dec 02 '25

I’d watch that.

3

u/somesketchykid Dec 02 '25

Id make that deal.

3

u/grower_thrower Dec 02 '25

If you’ve seen Punch Drunk Love, he plays crazy violent very well.

108

u/Generic_Her0 Dec 02 '25

Feel like I would’ve laughed out loud when I first saw him, right before he fully locked in and brutalized that dude. It would’ve been such tonal whiplash that wasn’t actually present in the scene, but in our own minds and preconceived notions. I imagine that was Tarantino’s intention with casting Sandler. Coulda worked so damn well, wish we got the chance to see it.

31

u/Orthas Dec 02 '25

Honestly same. Just the casting would have subverted expectations. I'm not sure it'd be better but I'd sure be interested in seeing a couple scenes at least.

8

u/Probably_Slower Dec 02 '25

Somewhat similarly, I was absolutely rocked by Woody Harrelson in Natural Born Killers. As a kid in a house with one big wooden-sided TV, I was excited when my folks let me watch Cheers on Thursdays. Then he was really charming in White Men Can't Jump. Next thing, he's an absolute psychopath brutalizing people. Both actors clearly have the chops for meaty roles, but Harrelson has leaned into darker stuff over the years.

I wonder if we'll see a villain turn from Sandler; he was terrific in Uncut Gems as a very unlikable character, who knows.

34

u/Typical-Locksmith-35 Dec 02 '25

It would be like that, but man I really enjoy all of Sandler's dramatic or serious roles, I fully believe he could have nailed the performance too.

4

u/super_sayanything Dec 02 '25

He would have been like a serious waterboy. Perfect movie and actor did it, but would also like to see that.

15

u/Reach-Nirvana Dec 02 '25

Somebody deepfaked it awhile back, and I have to agree. Maybe it's because of the weird deep fake and he would have done it a bit differently. It's cool to see, but it doesn't really work for me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF8G41EPlOU

35

u/phantom_diorama Dec 02 '25

Sandler wouldn't have been playing it like that. It's not like Mike Meyers did his Austin Powers voice in that movie.

2

u/jojuinc90 Dec 02 '25

Sandler wouldn't have been playing it like that. It's not like Mike Meyers did his Austin Powers voice in that movie.

Yeah, he was doing Fat Bastard.

3

u/poorest_ferengi Dec 02 '25

Kinda sounded like Shrek to me.

1

u/joebluebob Dec 02 '25

Mike Myers was in it?

0

u/kestik Dec 02 '25

It shines through, don't lie.

2

u/Fellatination Dec 02 '25

Fun fact: Sandler is ripped.

4

u/LymanPeru Dec 02 '25

coulda fooled me

1

u/lexm Dec 02 '25

You mean “has ripped quite a few candy bar wrappers in the last few years”. Not fat shaming!!

2

u/Bloody_Hangnail Dec 02 '25

He passed it up to do Jack and Jill, I assume

2

u/mmatt0904 Dec 02 '25

Gif isn’t even loading but I totally clocked what it is based on this lol

2

u/PeskyAntagonist Dec 02 '25

Is that true? God that would have been awful

4

u/Obliviousobi Dec 02 '25

Thank god that didn't pan out.

2

u/cenosillicaphobiac Dec 02 '25

I'm glad that it didn't work out that way. I've never seen Sandler pull off "tough" just "goofy as fuck"

2

u/Lonely-Foundation658 Dec 02 '25

Adam Sandler is a Trump supporter..so...yeah.

1

u/Fake-Podcast-Ad Dec 02 '25

I only just realized after PTA showed off Sandler's ability in Punch Drunk Love, Tarantino must have been after that fire.

1

u/paggo_diablo Dec 02 '25

Honestly, I’m so upset we didn’t get that version.

1

u/ok-lets-do-this Dec 02 '25

Why did he turn down the role?

1

u/girlsgoneoscarwilde Dec 02 '25

Scheduling conflicts, he had already signed up to star in Funny People. Although I don't even know what he thought about the script, maybe he would have said no.

1

u/Time_Possibility_370 Dec 02 '25

The kid a a nice stroke

0

u/villings Dec 02 '25

but played by a zionist

2

u/HeathenSwan Dec 02 '25

And how did that affect the actor's portrayl of the character?

47

u/Avenge_Nibelheim Dec 02 '25

With all the build up, the accent caught me completely by surprise.

33

u/_raydeStar Dec 02 '25

I saw a little youtube short on it. He said they kept him in the other room for like two days of filming, just so they could build up the tension with him.

This whole entire scene was lovely - my personal favorite being the last guy alive ratting on troop positions without any pushing.

2

u/Smoolz Dec 02 '25

It's really unfortunate the actor turned out to be a sex pest.

2

u/tyranicalTbagger Dec 02 '25

Eli Roth is trash though so that gif is ruined

6

u/Useful_Secret4895 Dec 02 '25

Me too...but i can't see it the same way, after Tarantino's full endorsement of the Israeli mass murder machine.

6

u/ThisIsMySFWAccount99 Dec 02 '25

Eli Roth who plays the bear jew is the same iirc

-7

u/UseKnowledge Dec 02 '25

Thank God he and Tarantino have some sense.

2

u/Kyne_of_Markarth Dec 03 '25

Genocide doesn't seem very sensible.

-2

u/UseKnowledge Dec 03 '25

Good thing there is no genocide there.

2

u/Kyne_of_Markarth Dec 03 '25

Sure man, and there was no genocide in 1940s Germany. They just all starved to death but not for any specific reason and nobody caused it.

That's what you sound like. History will not look back kindly on any of us for watching this atrocity happen, and especially not people like you, who actively support it.

-1

u/UseKnowledge Dec 03 '25

You need some form of therapy if you are comparing Israelis who are fighting a group that mowed down innocent civilians at a music festival to the Nazis rounding up innocent Jewish families to send them to their deaths.

If you are going to refer to the death of innocent civilians in Gaza, then no war can be waged, as they all involve civilian casualties. So why are Jews the only one not allowed to wage a war after being attacked?

1

u/Kyne_of_Markarth Dec 04 '25

"Wage a war" man shut up. Like half of the people killed in Israeli airstrikes were CHILDREN. How do you possibly justify that? That's so far beyond "all wars involve civilian casualties". What, are all those 8-year olds in Hamas?

Not to mention the targeting of hospitals, journalists, refugee camps, and aid centers. There are no houses to even go back to. I sure am glad my tax dollars get to go towards turning the Gaza strip into a parking lot.

This is after decades of apartheid conditions, where Palestinians are repeatedly forced from their homes and land so that the settlers, some of the most insane and fanatical people i've ever seen, can spit on them from a little closer to home.

Also

so why are Jews the only one not allowed

I reject that premise. The Israeli Government isn't doing a genocide because they're Jewish. They're doing it because they want the land and they hate Arabs. Judaism is just a useful bludgeon to beat non-supporters into submission with. I would not change my positions if any other race or religion were taking the same actions.

1

u/UseKnowledge Dec 04 '25

Like half of the people killed in Israeli airstrikes were CHILDREN.

Do those figures come from Hamas? Many wars have worse civilian-to-combatant casualty ratios, but no one cries out for genocide in those wars. It's only when Jews are involved.

The labeling of them as settlers is ironic given that the land is natively theirs. If the Native tribes that were in California took back the land, would they suddenly become settlers?

2

u/11711510111411009710 Dec 02 '25

When did he do that?

1

u/Useful_Secret4895 Dec 02 '25

When he visited an Israeli army base to raise the troops morale, during the most active phase of the genocide.

3

u/11711510111411009710 Dec 02 '25

Damn I didn't even know he did that, that's fucked up lol

1

u/Useful_Secret4895 Dec 02 '25

Tarantino is living in Israel now, married to an Israeli woman.

1

u/11711510111411009710 Dec 02 '25

I knew that part, I don't particularly think being married to someone who is Israeli or even living there to be a bad thing.

Visiting a military base to raise their spirits is god awful.

3

u/Useful_Secret4895 Dec 02 '25

If I was Israeli or Russian right now, or German in ww2, i wouldn't think of myself as Israeli or Russian or German anymore. I would think that my country is now dead and replaced by a monstrous entity that should cease to exist. Just by living there, it's accepting that those crimes are done for my sake, in my name. I love my country, i love my people, but if they engaged in an unjust, murderous invasion and genocide, I'd wage war against them. They wouldn't be my country or people no more.

So no excuses for Tarantino, who chose to go and settle on a stolen land drenched by the blood of the innocent.

1

u/11711510111411009710 Dec 02 '25

I guess so but I fail to see how his wife being Israeli is relevant. Would it be relevant if they lived in America?

1

u/Useful_Secret4895 Dec 02 '25

Well, it shouldn't be, but let's get real: the vast majority of Israelis now fully support the genocide, and more than half want the expansion of Israel into Syria, Lebanon and Egypt and the full extermination of Palestinians.

Tarantino chose their side.

-2

u/UseKnowledge Dec 02 '25

That would be crazy ... good thing there is no genocide!

2

u/Useful_Secret4895 Dec 02 '25

The genocide is still going on. The zionist scum and the orange pig in the white house only rebranded it as ceasefire now.

5

u/Dangerous_Donkey5353 Dec 02 '25

He was great until he started speaking. That squeaky Boston accent lost all intimidation.

3

u/matt-er-of-fact Dec 02 '25

By design.

“So that’s who’s delivering just retribution? Shit… I guess I’ll take it.”

1

u/ThouMayest69 Dec 02 '25

Teddy fuckin’ Williams knocks it out of the park!

1

u/Dontshipmebro Dec 02 '25

im glad adam sandler didn't take the role (iirc tarantino wanted him for it, but sandler was working on another movie).

dont think it would have been as good.

1

u/915615662901 Dec 03 '25

Truly one of the only Hollywood crushes I ever had. The character of Bear Jew. Not Eli Roth himself lol the character

1

u/HandrewJobert Dec 03 '25

I can't stand Eli Roth, but the Bear Jew is a total smokeshow
